So not the same. Paula had amazing attention to detail and she made sure that excellent customer service prevailed. Now it is unfortunately just lacking in all areas

The House of Farnell has lost it's previous charm and ambiance , decor lacking , limited availability on menu and abrupt manner of waiting staff less than welcoming. Not what it used to be , unlikely to return.

Called in on way back from Montrose to Forfar. What a charmingly quirky place - very taken it the paper hot air balloons in green and white that dangle below the cafe roof and look like a sky-bound flotilla! Enjoyed a very tasty tuna panini, and a generously-proportioned fruit scone, as well as a silky-smooth coffee. Service was pleasant, and... More

What a fantastic place!!! Full of lots of interesting Easter gifts at very reasonable prices and the coffee shop is superb. The Rosetta sandwich's are superb and scones freshly baked. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

Really disappointed after our annual visit today ..... a sad shadow of what this establishment used to be like in years gone by. Attention to detail was sadly lacking - Christmas lights that were wrapped around the wreaths that decorated the shop were not on, tea lights not lit, really dreary Christmas decorations for sale ..... it left us all... I am originally from Dundee and at Christmas travel north and with my two best friends make a point of visiting here, although we know it as 'Paula's' This year we have been underwhelmed at the lack of attention and the general lack of Christmas feeling. It was all very half hearted and lacklustre! The lack of Christmas smells and... More

Really cosy wee place for a nice coffee and cake. Lovely atmosphere and great gift shop attached. Staff were helpful and friendly. Definitely a hidden gem! Worth going out of the way for.

I had been very excited to visit with my family and children, left feeling uneasy and underwhelmed. The gift shop is beautiful - very overpriced so didn't actually buy anything - great to look at. However felt like the member of staff was coming behind us fixing things we had touched, picked up etc. Not overly friendly. Lunch was not... More

This is a unique place not only for the Xmas decoration's, and alternative presents, the food is good wholesome and different. Rye bread with meatballs cranberry jelly and salad creamy coleslaw very nice, lentil soup was very good and the Danish doughnuts with jam and sugar was delicious lemon/vanilla flavour. 4 of us 3 drinks 2 courses each less than...
