Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We visited here for lunch and booked in advance on the recommendation of the owner. We enjoyed the crab sandwiches and felt that they were ok value at £8.25 with crisps and salad as the crab filling was good. I paid for these using my Amex card and benefitted from the shop small promotion. We decided to have some cake and drinks for pudding and my wife went to acquire these items. When it came to paying she was told in no uncertain terms that they didn’t accept Amex. This was clearly a lie and incorrect and I’m reporting the matter to Amex as the owners are being disingenuous. There are better options in Craster, but this was perfectly ok for a light lunch. Service was helpful apart from the abrupt woman who refused to take Amex. Wish they hadn’t lied about the Amex and denied my wife the shop small promotion, which I had received 20 minutes earlier!

After visiting Craster for a walk and in need of a coffee, we were pleasantly surprised to see this little coffee shop open for business. The owners were very friendly and welcoming which was really nice to see given we are not locals were worried the residents of Craster would rather people stay away. The coffee was delicious and later we popped in for a sarnie which was also tasty. They had a one way system in place which worked really well. We will definitely return to Shoreline Cafe when we are next in Craster and will recommend to friends and family :)

Just what we needed after walking from Dunstan Steads - a reviving brew and a bite to eat whilst enjoying the sunny weather in their outdoor seating area. Very impressed with the speed of service, the friendliness of the staff, and the food and drinks. Definitely recommended, and hope that they continue to do well over the summer.

Ordered the “fresh crab sandwich”, after half an hour (okay, they were busy) received two pieces of brown sliced bread out of a loaf from the supermarket with some kind of fishy paste inside, a handful of crisps and a bit of salad. If it was £3 or £4 it would be like ‘fair enough’ but they charged £8.25 for it. The staff were nice and friendly but the food was very expensive and very poor.

We’ve been going to Craster for years, all year round and often go to Shoreline Cafe to get a take out cake/bun to take back to our caravan. Today we called in to do the same only to be told we can’t sell you cakes to take out as we won’t have enough cakes to sell to customers inside as part of the Government eat in to help out scheme. Incredible - would rather burden the tax payer than allow the full price paying customer to make a purchase. Rather shortsighted don’t you think especially as the Government scheme is only for August and I am an all year round visitor to the area and they’ve now lost a customer.

What a super friendly, welcoming cafe. Lovely selection of food and drink. Although you can't book, unlike the Jolly Fisherman, where you couldn't get a table til silly o'clock, this was just as good, with just a small wait whilst they strictly adhered to the Covid rules in force on the day. Thoroughly enjoyed the delicious smoked fish Chowder, warming us through on a chilly day. Thanks.

What a fabulous find this cafe was today. Excellent customer service and they were extremely careful about all the Covid rules, but the quality of the food was outstanding! Such a delicious, wholesome, homemade lunch - such a treat to find somewhere with truly tasty, not mass produced food which is very reasonably priced. We would certainly recommend.

After a New Year's eve visit to Dunstanbrough castle we needed lunch. The only pub was full and Shoreline had a table. Half the team had chowder and the other half tomato and pepper soup. All excellent. Tea was good, hot and came with a pot of hot water to top up so it lasted. The stove and welcome was great. This is what cafes need to be like.

Excellent cafe right on the shoreline as the name suggests. Incredibly well organised in Covid for safety Very friendly and welcoming We return here regularly when in Northumberland Home made soups are gorgeous. Today I had tomato and basil and husband had the smoked seafood chowder. Both were delicious and good wholesome portions including granary loaf Good breakfasts and sandwiches and delightfully tempting cakes Spotlessly clean and dog friendly Highly recommend booking due to Covid

Popped in for lunch after a walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle. Due to Covid and the reduced amount of tables we were initially seated outside, but as soon as a table came free inside we were offered and took that. Both had the smoked haddock chowder, which was served with lovely fresh bread. Chowder was really tasty with big chunks of fish. We then had a pot of tea and butternut squash cake - also really tasty. Felt really safe and clean, and great staff too.

We went for brunch today and it was great. My husband had the kippers which looked and smelled great, and I had the pancakes which was a generous portion with plenty of maple syrup. Service with a smile too. Would definitely recommend it if you’re visiting Craster.

We were lucky to get their last available table for lunch. The service was excellent- a very welcoming host, tasty food and friendly waiting staff. They even accommodated an off-menu request of beans on toast for my picky son! Highly recommended.

One would expect that places such as this would welcome whatever custom they can get in these difficult times. On leaving Craster after a week's holiday, I wanted a takeaway bacon roll to eat on my journey. How convenient that the only café in Craster offers take away food... Well only of you do not want a bacon roll! However, I was advised somewhat curtly "We do not do hot take away food!". Guess what you lost my custom for anything at all!! If you can provided a bacon roll in the café, what's the difficulty putting that in the same container (a paper bag?) as used for a cold sandwich takeaway? Apparently you can afford to turn away business?

Massively overpriced, staff not very friendly as per other reviews and tap water charge!!! Greedy place as they are the only cafe in Craster so they can charge what they like for the tourists, can’t imagine they get many of the residents eating there. £3.50 for a scone and £2.20 for a bottle of Fanta. Also no wifi in a place that has no reception

This cafe has a small but satisfying menu. Fish chowder was very tasty and partners crab sandwich was generous. Nice ambience inside and outside. Location is not quite shoreline but you can just view the sea. Good service and the staff are well organised.
