We visited for a meal before

We visited for a meal before Christmas as part of a larger party. The staff were attentive and there was a friendly atmosphere. The food was excellent and the whole visit very enjoyable. Despite it being very busy, the food arrived at suitable intervals and we neither felt rushed or left waiting. I would certainly recommend!

Since La Sirena have reopened during the lockdown we have had two deliveries from them. On both occasions the food has arrived quickly, piping hot and has been delicious. Looking forward to being able to dine in again and see Bona and the team, but in the meantime this is the next best option!

Delicious birthday meal with great service

Such a treat! We ordered a full 3 course meal for seven and collected to eat in the garden at home. The staff were so helpful and the food absolutely delicious from garlic bread (pizza) to Gamberoni Vulcano starters to pizza, risotto and fresh fish mains. Accompanied by tasty veg and sumptuous sauces the only disappointment was that they had no tiramisu for dessert! Not cheap but a special occasion option for us. The order was ready within 30 mins on a Sunday afternoon.

Rude staff, no covid precautions.

Table booked and agreed to vacate within 2 hours, no problem. Arrived asked 2 sanatise and to wear our masks, no problem. No track and trace available. Not 1 other person entered that restaurant abiding by covid rules they just piled into the restaurant, it was raining, but they crowded all in the entrance and front of the restaurant. 3 different waiters asked if we wanted drinks, felt pestered rather than attended to. Waiter arrived to take food order standing over us with his mask under his chill, felt very uncomfortable and had to shuffle back on my chair, both starters were very bland and not up to usual standards, my main was ok but my husbands pasta had no sauce, desserts well presented. We asked for the bill, a very over priced bill £120, placed the money inside and were finishing off our drinks, then a female waitress grabbed the bill and rudely asked us to leave, we said we were just finishing our drinks and she argued back that there was people waiting for the table in a taxi outside, we explained that we agreed to leave by 8.30 and as she could see we still had drinks, she fetched her clipboard with intention of proofing we should have left, we had been there just over an hour and a quarter, 7.47, no apology, rude and unprofessional, will never return.

Disappointing lockdown take away

It was my mums birthday this weekend (first weekend of the second lockdown) and as we couldn't go out to eat as planned, we decided to treat her to a special takeaway at home. My sister had eaten at La Sirena before and had had a good experience but it was the rest of the families first time. We thought the menu was really varied and liked the sound of a lot of the dishes. The food was ready really quickly (it was a Sunday night and took only 25mins from the point of ordering to receiving it) which we thought was very impressive. The first thing we noticed when the food arrived was that my mums dish (Tagliatelle Al Salmone) was completely not what the menu stated. On the menu, it's described as having smoked salmon, garlic, onions, vodka, cream and tomato sauce but in reality, it was a fillet of steamed salmon, double cream, and spring onions. She said it tasted awful and was nowhere near what it was supposed to be. My dads pasta was also missing ingredients (chilli, rosemary, onions) but again, had spring onions in it. My mum is actually Italian and said she had never heard of an authentic Italian pasta dish using spring onion - what a random ingredient! The rest of the food was average, if a little bland. The worst part of our experience was the fact my dad was really ill that evening and the only food he'd had that day that may have caused it, were the prawns in his pasta. It's saddened me to write this review because I'm so keen to support the hospitality industry and especially local businesses to us in these testing times, but I'm so disappointed with our experience and probably won't be returning as a result. If the restaurant had been upfront and changed the menu and prices to reflect what ingredients they did/didn't have in stock or at least notified us in the changes when the order came through, it wouldn't have left such a bitter taste in our mouths. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that we didn't end up complaining on the night (we didn't want to ruin the birthday mood!), which we probably should have and maybe then they would have sent us a replacement meal or offered us some money back.

Disappointing!

My husband and I booked a meal last night,we have been going to this restaurant for years and never had cause for complaint. For our starter we both had prawn cocktail which was basically a pile of prawns, hardly any sauce,a bit if lettuce half a tomato and 2 quarters of buttered bread which had obviously been kept in the fridge for hours. My main pasta dish came with no sauce! The waiter asked if I wanted something else but at this point I declined. The restaurant was fully booked (government deal) so our starter arrived within 2 minutes of ordering and our main arrived 1 minute after finishing the starter,the whole thing was very rushed. The waiters appeared embarrassed and apologised (not their fault). I spoke to the manager who was very unapologetic and quite frankly confrontational, she told me to keep my voice down (which was not raised!). She said that basically I should be grateful as I didnt have to pay for my main course (the one that I didnt eat). So surprised as never had this before, as i said the waiters were lovely. Consequently after all these years i will not be going back.

Pizza!

Having just got back from a short break we decided to grab a quick pizza at La Sirena. As always we received the warmest of welcomes from Bona and her team and were lucky to get a table on a Friday evening having not made a reservation. The pizza's were as always absolutely delicious, nice thin crust and plenty of toppings. Really looking forward to eating here again in a couple of weeks time when we are here to celebrate someone's birthday! They had some great specials on so hoping that they might be available on our next visit!

Excellent first night back

We were a table of 6 on the first night back. We all had different starters and mains and forgot how amazing the food is here. Fillet steak to die for, literally melted in the mouth. Oh and the Oreo cheese cake was amazing too. Not only is the food excellent all the staff give excellent service too. We highly recommend this restaurant if you want great service and delicious food 10/10

Really disappointed - my Mum ordered the lobster & when it arrived she looked uneasy. It transpired that the lobster was off! Once she scraped off the sauce, the meat was actually green. Yuk - how could the chef serve this to a customer??

Authentic Italian food

Southend is now awash with some outstanding Italian restaurants, but I’m keen to remember those that originally put this town on the map! La Sirena, is run by Italians, cooked by Italians a d makes you feel like you’re eating in Italy. With simply outstanding service, that even accommodated my one-year-old child with pleasure, I’m thrilled to declare that the quality of this food and ambience makes it a very easy place to return. With a simple kids menu that is cooked with us much love as the adult food, our daughters devoured their foods. Us adults dined on some outstanding start is that where the specials for that day, including scallops with pork cracklings and and lamb chops. Both were delicious. However we have to showcase the main event! My friends pizza was cooked to perfection where the dough felt “doughy” but still thin enough to be flamboyant. However my veal milanaise was out of this world! Wonderful food and you’ll be pleased to know you can order this all as takeaway with the same quality!

Delicious takeaway

We have had two takeaways since they opened and both have been absolutely delicious. I pre-order in the day for pick up later that evening. It is always ready and service is friendly. We live in Southend, so it is a 15 minute drive, so they don't deliver that far, but it is worth the drive, as it is the best we have had and we have had three others that have not been so good, It is still hot once we get it home and it looks appetising and as fresh as if it was served in the restaurant. Very generous sized portions too. A nice touch is little pots of parmesan cheese with it too. Would definitely recommend and we will be returning.

Amazing lunch

This was our first visit to La Sirena and it was perfect. We had the three course lunch for £16.95 the choices are amazing three of us had the melon and one the whitebait the melon was really lovely as was the whitebait and there were at least three other choices. For mains three of us had the chicken Milanese with the spaghetti bologneise and I had the pomodore sauce and then one of my sister in laws had the salmon which came with a mushroom sauce broccoli carrots and slice sautéed potatoes, you can then have a dessert or coffee. I was the only one to have dessert which was chocolate profiteroles which were delicious. We were all really impressed with the ambience of the restaurant Armand who served us was polite and friendly and brought out a birthday cake on a decorated plate that my sister in laws had got for me - nothing was to much bother. The bill with three rose wines and a couple of tonics was £91 an exceptional price thank you.

Yum Yum All Round.!!

I took my friend and little girl for lunch there today and had a first class experience. From the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left the restaurant, service was impeccable and the food to a seriously high standard all home-made fresh and piping hot, also very reasonably priced, will definitely be going back there for sure. Sorry we didn’t have any cash for a tip so it’s double next time lol!! Yum Yum All Round.!!

This restaurant is a regular of mine and I love it. The food is reliably full of flavour and well presented on a table with clean white tablecloths. The staff are friendly and efficient. Value for money and seeming not as noisy as some restaurants. I would thoroughly recommended this restaurant. I will go back.. 😊

Awesome food, great service, lovely atmosphere and served by really nice people. Our starters were absolutely incredible and my shellfish stuffed a Ravioli was one of the nicest things I’ve ever eaten. I could eaten it until it was coming out of my ears. My friends Spicy Tomato Gamberino Prawns were also wonderful. My Fillet Steak Rossini was huge and cooked to perfection. I actually could eat all of it and had to take home a doggy bag as there was no way what I couldn’t eat was going in the bin. The sides were cooked beautifully and it was all served promptly by the lovely staff. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. I’ll certainly be returning sooner rather than later.
