I'd describe it as deluxe pub grub, but very very good pub grub. I'd recommend the combo starter to share!!! Was delicious selection. Great staff, very attentive...maybe sometimes too attentive, were asked ALOT of questions. Great pub vibe to the place, lovely views over the harbour and seafront!! However, id have prefered to of sat in the front part of... More

We have been coming to the anchor for the last five years. Amazing food, excellent service and lovely atmosphere. Ideal location and great for couples and families. The open fire in winter months is a big bonus

We visited for lunch and having read recent poor reviews, were pleased with the food and service. To start we had amazing haggis bon bons and then the Sunday roast, which was beautifully cooked lamb. The portions are huge so I couldn't finish mine and a couple near us also couldn't finish. This is a dog-lovers place so the decor... More

The staff were most friendly and helpful. My seafood salad was tinned tuna, cockles out of a jar, prawns etc.. not local produce considering on Colvend coast did expect to have fresh produce & support some of the great Artisan foods in the vicinity. Nearby Castle Douglas is the 'Food Town & Carsluith has such a selection of seafood. This... More

Visited recently. I am sorry to say there was nothing I could say that would be good about this place. Customer service is poor and food not an awful lot better. Lack of veggie choice and what there was ,was not good. I had lamb chops which i could not cut with a steak knife i left the majority. There... More

Stopped off here for a pint and a quick bite to eat. Ordered garlic mushrooms for starters and then a sharing combo which consisted of garlic bread, mozzarella dippers, onion rings, scampi & potato wedges. Garlic mushrooms were well presented but mushrooms were few and far between in a very runny citrusy sauce which didn't taste pleasant at all. The... More

Dreadful absolutely awful food on this day. Really could not of got this choice of venue for mothers day treat more wrong. My meal was a lamb roast...where do I start, tough fatty meat that could not be cut up with a normal knife, rock hard carrots, swede, broccoli and cauliflower. Roast potatoes the size of a 50 pence piece... More
