Quiet but a lovely meal. Fish and chips and Pork in fig sauce. White Sangria lovely . Fab friendly waitress. Will come again.

After seeing good reviews we were expecting a nice evening, missing cutlery, missed drinks order and a dessert order that we waited 40 minutes to be told had not reached the kitchen. It was not busy so there was no excuse for this poor level...of service and to be told at the end that payment was cash only just rounded off the disappointing night. Go to the restaurant next door where there is live music, better food, better service and a card machine, we wish we had gone back there instead of trying somewhere different!More
Another friend of the Irish restaurant next covered with a Portuguese name. We are a traditional restaurant with a English pub name but 100% Portuguese
We went on a Monday evening. Excellent live background music. Food was very good as was the service. You can eat in or out. Seemed to be a very popular restaurant. The bill was very reasonable. Well worth a visit.
Have visited here several times over the years - and it was always lovely. Informal, low-key, but good food and good service. Don't know what's happened, but was so disappointing tonight. Couvert was good, but that was about it. Service was slow (despite the poor...waitress working her socks off), Sangria was tasteless, steak was tough, nothing looked or tasted particularly appetising. No desserts available at all. And no working card machine. Won't be going back.More
Food below average. House Vino over priced. We came here as it was local & it was raining. Sadly a huge disappointment. Jolly Sailor, it certainly is not. No atmosphere, & so quiet. We visited here in the past, unfortunately no longer the same. Should...have listened to reviews. We will not be back.More
The food was amazing and the service was great! Such polite workers. The singer in the garden was excellent and it was just a great experience!
I knew the place before and the service and food were excellent. Last night i had a very bad experience. 40 min waiting before ordering, no plates on the table, drinks were missing. Very unorganized and poorly efficiency unfortunately… they should improve otherwise clients will...not return.More
It was our second time there this visit and it was brilliant. Claudia (I hope I picked your name up correctly) is the best/nicest person you would want to meet in a restaurant. She was brilliant as was the food the 2 evenings we ate...there. The ladies from Buncrana helped with the entertainment on the Saturday eveningMore
... we had the tuna on stone and the steak on stone - delicious. Very good service from the friendly waiter.
Very good food we try the fried shrimps and shrimps cury. The host Luis is a very funny guy. Very good price / quality. Will repet next time.
I do not suggest going to this restaurant as the new owner is very mean to the employees, runs out of food & liqueur daily and doesn't have reliable credit card services. I went there 2 times just to make sure it wasn't just a...fluke but happened both visits. The previous owners provided great food, friendly service and wonderful atmosphere, but all that has been with the new owners.More
This has been my favourite restaurant in Cabanas for 10 years, and I even booked 3 weeks in advance for my birthday, which was this visit. But this time... wow awful. There were only 3 other tables taken in the restaurant but despite that we...were ignored for over half an hour. There were two people serving; one woman who treated everyone as an inconvenience, and was direct to the point of being rude - eg the next table "what vegetables do you have?" they asked; " I don't know, how am I supposed to know every vegetable???" she snapped - forgive me, don't you WORK HERE??. And a man wandering about aimlessly in a hoodie who was absolutely useless. A Portuguese couple who arrived 10mins after us were already served drinks and their order taken whilst we just sat there, being ignored. After 30mins we got up and left. The woman gave us the filthiest look imaginable as we left. But honestly this was appalling. I've loved this restaurant and spent hundreds of euros in here over many years, and we were treated like we were invisible. I'll never go back. I'm gutted. Nothing like the good old days of Edi and Lily.More
A small bistro setting. The food was delicious, there is a lot of choice. Prices are competitive, our waitress was great, fun passionate about her job. We will definitely be back.
Had steak, it was fine, but was obviously reheated/cooked from previous day. Still tased fine, but asked for medium well and was very well done. Ambience, drinks etc fine, just reheated steak.
Jolly Sailor changed ownership a few months ago. The food was always good so we were interested to see what it is like now. The menu has not changed much with a couple of good add ons. Very good quality and fair prices. The atmosphere...is good, particularly on rare Cabanas cold nights with an open fire.More
