We booked online at really short notice (Half an hour before) Arrived and greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. Seated outside at our request and we had two lamb roasts and two kids meals both came out very quickly, all were very tasty and hot. The service was very quick and friendly. The menu was a reduced Sunday menu but very good nonetheless and the kids selections were perfect!
Lovely atmosphere in the place. Nice and relaxed outside with some chilled background music.
Overall great experience for our first time visiting but would definitely recommend and we will be back ourselves in the near future. Thank you for the lovely afternoon to all the team.

It's not the cheapest prices on the block, but you donget your value for money. Having have onion rings, fries, and garlic mushrooms and peas included in a steak meal is not common for under £24 .
Table booking online is easy, staff were friendly and approachable. Food and drinks came in a timely fashion. My steak was beautifully cooked and was delicious, as was all the sides. The rest of my friends were also very happy with their meals. Would happily return.

A first time visit, and we were impressed with the roast menu, and associated starters. the beef was well cooked, and it was unusual to find carved ham on the menu, which was a rare treat. Not sure about serving it with beef gravy, and perhaps asking if it was required would be a good idea. The vegetable serving were varied and sufficient for the table. An appropriate range of sauces were available and the cranberry nicely presented in an individual jar. The service could do with a little polishing, and I had to interrupt a staff 'gossip' in the kitchen in order to find someone to pay the bill!

I have been to this restaurant many times over the years, but I will not be returning.
We booked a table for 5pm, when we got there, in the restaurant side there were about 4 tables occupied.
Started of ok, or drinks order taken, food order taken, that was the good part, then it went down hill.
The fish and chips meal the fish was thin, and nearly all batter, the portion of chips was small, not as I have this meal there before. The burger meal, the buns were very hard, so they inedible
We were part way up the room, so there were no passing servers, they never came and asked if our meals were ok, they never came and asked if we wanted any more drinks. The did ask us if we wanted desserts but by this time we decided to leave, asked for the bill, when we got it we noticed that the optional service charge was already added on, we asked for it to be removed, and they did that, I feel if the service charge is optional it should not automatically be added on your bill.

Extremely disappointing visit and will not return.
2 of us were seated and told someone would be back to take drinks order. This took over 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, a much larger table was seated next to us and had their orders taken. Their drink order arrived before ours had been taken.
Ordered one beef roast and one lamb roast. Was average and certainly not worth the prices being charged. There are several better quality and better value roast lunches in the area. Ordered cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets as extra. Cauliflower cheese was full of stalks and certainly not worth the £4.95 being charged. Even if this came as part of the roast, it still wouldn't make the price of £19.50 for the dinner feel any better value. It was truly awful.
Pigs in blankets didn't arrive. My partner eventually caught the waitress' attention after around 10 minutes, she asked where they were....really wish she hadn't now! Waitress apologised, went straight to the kitchen and brought back a pot with 4 cold, dried up, burnt things in it. The sausage was completely dry and crumbly. Probably the worst pig in blanket I have ever tried to eat. We left these. Again, if they'd have been included in the price of the lunch, the prices being charged is still not justified.
No check on us during the meal or issues would have been highlighted.
Restaurant area was incredibly hot, lots of people fanning themselves with menus. By the time i'd finished lunch, I just wanted to leave.
Waitress came to clear the table, still didn't ask if everything was ok. Just asked if we'd like to see the dessert menu. I replied "no, we'll just pay the bill please". Waitress said ok and disappeared.
I'd already seen the dessert menu and wasn't going to pay £7.95 for any dessert after the quality of food I had already been presented with. Who can justify £7.95 for 3 scoops of ice cream anyway? I think that just proves how overpriced this place actually is!
Waitress didn't come back with the bill or card machine, neither did anyone else. We waited for 20 minutes and I decided to pay on the way out.
It was only after, I realised that a 10% service charge had also been added to the bill of this overpriced food. Had I realised, this would have been taken off as the service was really poor.

Sunday lunch menu online stated 'Our roasts come served with seasoned roast potatoes, parsnips, Yorkshire pudding, cheesy leek gratin and fresh market vegetables'
The actual menu and what you get is far less choice and more expensive.
There is no gratin, or choice of market veg. You get parsnips on your plate with the meat, yorkie and roast potatoes (I needed my steak knife to cut the skin). Then you get carrots and red cabbage on the table.
The only place I've ever had Sunday lunch and no green veg available!!
No worth the £18:95.

Thank you for your feedback. It would appear that between checking our menu online, booking and visiting us, our menu had changed, which is something we do every months and more frequently given the constant inflationary pressure we're all experiencing. When this happens, there may be a small lag between the menu changing in the restaurant and it updating on our website.
We appreciate your comment about having green vegetables available on a Sunday and will review this in our next management meeting.
We trust the vegetables you did have, the meat from our fantastic butcher, the gravy and service were all up to standard and do hope that you will return again the future.
Kind regards.

We visited for Sunday lunch for a special occasion as we were celebrating 2 big birthdays in our family.
After having very good meals here we decided to support a local business and not travel into central Bristol.
There were 7 of us who were given a very warm welcome and showed to our tables. No one explained that it was just the Sunday menu on offer and were given the menu that has other options in which a few of our party then had select other options. Why not hand out the Sunday menu only?
Our food was bought out very quickly, we were in the first serving of the day so thought the chef must be ready to go, great!
The meals came out on cold plates, the food and sharing dishes of vegetables were all cold. 5/7 of the sent the plates back.
We waited a small while and food was bought out which was much warmer, with steam coming off this time. My pork was missing the crackling, beef was very rare which some of our party didn't like and the roast potatoes weren't in any way crispy, really underdone and nothing like a roast potato should be.
Considering I cook a roast at home weekly I wanted the Sunday off and have something better than I could produce at home.
Value for money was poor compared to other resturants serving Sunday lunches in Bristol. Considering my lunch was £18 plus sides which were also underwhelming, the cauliflower cheese had a white sauce but no extra cheese on top! Basic stuff here.
Certainly won't be returning if standards don't improve!
No good will gesture of a drink at the bar considering we had to return food. Poor!

I visited the Squire with friends on Friday night. Although I have been here before, this is my first review. We had booked in advance and were shown to our table in the rear restaurant. The staff were friendly, helpful and were prompt with the drinks order and water for the table.
All our party had burgers for our main meal, as this is a speciality of the restaurant. I had a 'Plain Jane' cheeseburger and chips. The burger was very tasty although the beef patty was a little dry. I wonder whether the beef patties were cooked in advance or to order. This wasn't enough to put me off though, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The chips were also nicely seasoned, not greasy and crispy.
I did not order a dessert as we shared a birthday cake (bought by us but presented by staff), but I was tempted by more than one item on the menu.
I will be returning to the Squire to try out more items on their menu. The restaurant/pub is one of best in Chipping Sodbury and I always recommend it to visiting friends/family.

Another visit and another superb meal. Friendly service and fabulous food as always. Portions more than enough, especially the ribs!!! Worth mentioning that if you're planning on ordering one of the larger steaks you'll need to order 24 hours before as they only keep a limited supply. They do say this on the website though to be fair. Will be back again soon.....

Husband & I visited at lunchtime today. I ordered the battered fish with chips, peas & tartare sauce. This was labelled as suitable as a gluten-free option. Well what can I say, the fish came and I started my meal. The batter on the fish tasted of absolutely nothing, like eating cardboard. Just awful. Decided to speak to the waitress, who apologised. In a bid to try to enjoy the meal I then scooped out the fish from the batter. This was really easy as when the fish was rescued from inside, the batter resembled a plaster cast ideal for someone with a broken limb !! Waitress was shown this and proceeded to kitchen to speak to chef. Apparently the chef had said sorry !!! Waitress was not at all bothered that I was extremely unhappy with my meal, didnt give a fig about the situation tbh. I hope that this batter/plastercast is never served again, although from their lack of concern I’m sure it will be.

Dear janrogers63,
We were so sorry to read your review and apologise that you didn't enjoy your visit to us.
Our beer-battered fish and chips is one of the most popular items on the menu and so to offer a gluten-free version, we do an entirely different batter.
Instead of the usual batter, which is made using real ale from the bar, chilled soda water and flour, we make a tempura-style batter with corn flour, chilled soda water and a touch of cider. Naturally, this makes for a much lighter, 'plainer' batter, but still enables are customers to have a gluten free option.
We work hard to cater for our guests with allergies, but do accept that sometimes alternative options may compromise the flavours and textures of a dish. For example, gluten-free pastas and breads can lack the flavour and texture of gluten-containing products.
That said, I will discuss with the chef team if there is anything we can do to improve the product going forward and will also talk this through with the front of house team in our next meeting to discuss how your complaint could have been better handled.
I trust your husband enjoyed his meal and do hope to welcome you back to The Squire in the future.
Kind regards.

Becoming a regular on burger night Tuesdays! Last night was probably my favourite visit. The bacon double cheeseburger combination was fab. On par with the Christmas burger for sure! Fantastic service as usual and having heard the chef was quite new, burgers were cooked to absolute perfection. 5 Stars!

We had a fabulous family meal at the steakhouse. Food was amazing, we all had different meals and loved it all. Even our toddler devoured hers. Staff, brilliant as usual. Friendly, attentive, helped with organising balloons during the day and bringing out cake and candles for the birthday boy after the meal. Even gave us a goodie bag with ribs to take home (there were so many and we didn't want to waste anything). We had a really nice evening. Thanks guys 😊

Visited recently for a roast, my boyfriend had beef which was served pink and tender, I had the lamb which was quite tough. The roast potatoes were lukewarm and the veg wasn't great - one quarter of a parsnip, a carrot/root veg mash/puree which was lumpy with chunks of carrot, cheesy leeks which were OK and a bowl of unseasoned steamed cabbage.
Front of house were welcoming and our order taken quickly, although we did not receive a check back after the food had been delivered. The food wasn't wrong but for £16 for each meal we left feeling underwhelmed and it wasn't as good as I was expecting having been to one of the other pubs in the same group - The Bell at Old Sodbury and had a lovely meal, although it wasn't a roast.

Booked for our works Christmas dinner. The Turkey was tender and the roasted vegetables well cooked however the Brussel Sprouts were rock hard and inedible as was the pig in blanket. Undercooked bacon and sausage pink in the middle. The puddings were all disappointing except the Honey apple and whiskey crumble, though it was lacking any whiskey flavour. The white chocolate, berries and gin cheesecake was too sweet and too soft, the Christmas pudding was more like cake, the brandy sauce thin, tastless and overly sweet and the Vegan dark chocolate and orange mousse was a strange texture and too dry.

Had a nice meal here. Staff were friendly and helpful. Starters were good - chicken liver paté and chicken and bacon Caesar salad. We both had the confit lamb shoulder for our main course. Personally I would have liked to see more vegetables offered as sides other than a side salad. Seasonal greens with the lamb shoulder were a small portion of 3 tiny stems - the rest of the meal was really tasty just lacked enough veg. Would go back if in the area again.
