Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a lovely afternoon in the Horseshoe celebrating our friends Birthday. Everything was very relaxed and superbly organised. The fresh sandwiches and chips that were provided were excellent. Les, Kate and Karrie looked after us all brilliantly, nothing was too much trouble. We are...not regulars in the Horseshoe as we don’t live locally but whenever we do visit, the welcome is always warm and genuine. A well run pub with fantastic staff.More

Can’t thank Matt and the gang for arranging a super 70th birthday celebration for my husband. Very low key just as he wanted, we invited 25 friends into the marquee at the back of the pub, patio heaters at the ready, but not needed. Les,...Karrie and Kate worked so hard to supply everything that we had asked for and we were well supplied with fresh sandwiches, chips & drinks as ordered. There was no pressure on us to leave and we made the most of the afternoon sunshine. Thank you all.More

What a fantastic pub. I mean 5⭐️ all in one pub because it has it all. Bar meals, posh Hill Top restaurant (upstairs) entertainment, discos, tribute acts, garden with bar, sports TVs & even have a juke box.Family friendly & dogs welcome. We had a...lovely meal in the new Hill Top restaurant . The gluten free pasta was delicious. We can’t stay away, we have been back many of times. Had a great vegan breakfast. Staff are very friendly & welcoming. We will keep returning !! I’m looking forward to your Whitney Houston Tribute act & your all day summer party in August. It will be a blast.More

Well what can I say !! Where shall I start? We were shown to our table but it wasn't the one we had booked. There was a lot of fuss about moving us , even though we were the only ones there at that time....The music was like something in a funeral parlour. We did asked for it to be changed but was told they couldn't do that. (Why I don't know). We were there for Sunday lunch and as we often go to the pub thought we would give it a go. Big mistake. The glasses and cutlery were dirty. The meat was dried up on the top as if it had been warmed up in a microwave. The mash potatoes tasted like smash. Everything was tasteless and bland. The horseradish sauce was the best thing on the plate. Sorry but you need to go to the Royal Oak and try there Sunday lunch. You might pick up some tips. The young girl that served us was lovely so can't falt the service. I'm sorry but I don't think I will be recommending Sunday lunch there. Needs to improve a lot before we eat there again.More

Good food and excellent service in a relaxing and peaceful setting. The garlic mushrooms starter was superb. My pint of Butcombe Bitter was very good but I understood that they cannot usually provide cask conditioned beer in the restaurant as it has to come from...the pub underneath the restaurant. They were very kind in doing this for me on our visit as they were not too busy that evening. As the Horseshoe is one of the best real ale pubs in the area, this is a pity and hence my reason for not giving the visit 5 stars. Perhaps they would reconsider this policy in future but of course I thank them for serving me real ale on this occasion!More

Hi Chris, thank you for your kind words! I am so glad you enjoyed your experience here with us. The policy is simply in place due to logistics of moving trays of drinks from downstairs when the restaurant or pub is very busy. We also...More

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, lovely food. Would certainly recommend a visit. My elderly mother really enjoyed her birthday lunch and appreciated the friendly attention paid by all the staff especially Les who was extremely attentive to her requirements. She has requested a return visit soon.

Yet again we were made very welcome at The Horseshoe. Great selection of ales and ciders. A traditional pub with fantastic food. Well worth popping in if you are in the area. The new landlord was very attentive. Can't wait until my next visit.

Food and service great at lunchtime last Saturday. Very friendly ambiance and nothing too much trouble. Dog friendly too. Bigger than it looks when you first enter as meanders around different corridors to multiple spaces that you can hide away in if you so wish....One recommendation is to also offer food on Friday and Saturday evenings as no where seems to offer this in Chipping Sodbury, especially if you have a hound in tow.More

Just back from Festive Lunch - 4 couples- at The Horseshoe in Chipping Sodbury. I had roast beef which was probably the best roast beef I’ve ever had in a pub. My wife had the salmon which was also rated excellent. The Christmas pudding was...delicious. The portions were very generous. We were looked after by Les, Judy and Kary and we all thoroughly enjoyed a great afternoon.More

We visited today on an off the cuff visit to Chipping Sodbury and were so glad we did. A really friendly proper pub with a great range of drinks and they make their own gin! The food was great, proper decent home cooked food and...lots of it. I had the cottage pie and my other half had the Davesaka - he was so chuffed with it - he rarely clears a plate but he wolfed the lot. The owner and staff were so friendly and welcoming, we left saying what a delight it was to find a gem like this. We will absolutely try and get back again even though we live hours away!More
