We went for a family Sunday dinner when we couldn't get in our local and were more than pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, with good sized portions. The atmosphere was great, the landlord is quite a character, keeping us entertained with his jovial banter between himself and his son ( who had been roped into serving up). In very... More

We have made a number of visit to 'the Smiths'. It is in a super location just off the beaten track. The interior is much brighter and inviting than in the past. It is a pub with huge potential and I hope more people discover and use it. One way this could happen is to improve the food. We had... More

Friendly atmosphere and good service. My wife and I had black pudding stacks for starters. Three slices of black pudding layered with good bacon and smothered in a spicy peppercorn sauce. Made it a very enjoyable starter but big enough for a main course! I had steak and ale pie which was lovely tender meat in a rich and thick... More

We ate here recently for lunch, my wife and I. The pub was freezing, we sat with coats on and so did another family who were sitting near us. There was a fire which wasn't lit. The Carling lager was lovely, the meals burger and chicken burger- well, the chips were completely underdone, the bread was far too hard, the... More

Hidden away from everything but once you find it this pub is a little gem. Great atmosphere, superb selection of real ales. Very friendly locals who made us feel right at home. The "crack" made it a great night.

We have been for a meal 4 times over the last year. It is the closest pub to our house so really want it to be good. Please bare in mind the meals aren't cheap. 1st meal I had fish and chips, the batter was heavy and really greasy. My wife's had a curry which was ok but didn't think... More

Huge portions I had the lamb thickly cut plentiful and very tasty. Meat potatoes Yorkshire pudding roast potatoes and parsnips served on plate and an extra 5 veg choices served in a side dish. Food was excellent and very tasty staff were very polite friendly and professional. Overall a good value experience. I will return

Received a lovely welcome, very friendly & felt comfortable almost Immediately. Really nice place to go with your partner or a friend for a drink as there is a good selection & offer a range of real ales; the down side I'm afraid is the food - our starters tasted so strange & it was only vegetable soup! the main...
