We had dinner at The Coffee Shop once while staying in Castara. The food was lovely, we had some cocktails and the waiter was very friendly. Best of all was the steelband - the music made this evening really special.

Back in Castara after 2 years (due to covid), and still LOVE this place. The owner of the place-Cheno- and his family are all amazing and very friendly. When in Castara The Coffee Shop is the place to be, whether it be for breakfast, a...light sandwich for lunch or dinners, maybe even just a quick stop for ice cream n a beer on those hot steamy days. The atmosphere is so serene n tranquil, the food is amazing and very tasteful. The Saturday night steel drum night is a Definite must, the mood is entertaining with people up dancing and enjoying life, the 1 man band is entertaining. Thanks again Cheno for all the great meals. Until next time😎More
The breakfasts are really good, we had fresh orange juice, eggs and bacon when we could. This is also an excellent place for a nightcap, we stopped off often and met the locals and had a lovely time.
We enjoyed several breakfasts at the Coffee Shop during our fortnight in Castara. Always a treat with tasty food and friendly service by Cheno and his family. The Saturday BBQs were fun too - tasty and plentiful fish and chicken with an assortment of local...sides and fun entertainment by Ryan and his amazing steel drum tunes. The iced coffee is delicious - just a great place to chill out with a cocktail or beer anytime whilst in Castara. A must go-to place.More
We were recommended to try this place for breakfast by some guests at Castara Retreats. Food was okay, the iced coffee was very good, but every morning we went there, the owner apologised for running late. If “running late” happens every morning, maybe they should...start earlier or open later…. but it is Tobago… We did go to a BBQ evening and regrettably the BBQ food was inedible (salads and veg were fine). So, if it’s an iced you you’re after, I can wholeheartedly recommend it, anything more substantial, I’d try elsewhere…More
This is the hang out spot in Castara besides the beach. Nice patio, good iced coffees, relaxed vibe.
A regular stop for us in Castara! The first sight you see as you enter the village and Cheno and his family have always made us and every other visitor welcome. Saltfish with scrambled eggs and ‘coconut bake’ will set you up for the day!...I buy a local paper, drink a coffee and watch the village as it comes to life. A real must do !More
Loved Cheno's breakfast! We had eggs and bacon with lots of fresh fruit on the side, and the iced coffee was to die for. Definitely make a stop here for breakfast/lunch/dinner if you're passing through Castara. We'd love to come back.
I visited Cheno's Coffee Shop during the Quarantine period with my significant other and we read so many reviews about Cheno's that we had to visit. The reviews were all true. Amazing service and a breakfast that is filling. We even visited on a Sunday...when Cheno's were closed but Mr. Cheno ensured that we did not leave hungry. Such a hospitable man.More
Cheno’s Coffee Shop is the best location in Castara for breakfast as well as THE place to be on a Saturday night for the BBQ and steel drum night. Castara has an unofficially organised nightlife where there are events on at different nights at different...restaurants. Cheno’s Coffee Shop’s night is Saturday, and their event is a BBQ and steelpan drum show. Ensure you book ahead for Saturday, as it does get busy. Cheno and his brother serve up a great BBQ, and be prepared to drink some strong rum punch and maybe even dance to the steel pan music. Cheno may join you! We had two BBQ dinners and a lot of rum punch for TTD$420. The coffee shop is a must do for breakfast in Castara. I was told to go there for the coconut bake by a friend, and I’m glad I did. Not only is this the only place to get a proper espresso coffee in Castara, but it’s the perfect location to have breakfast after an early morning walk to the waterfall to look for birds. I can’t stress this enough – get the coconut bake! It’s amazing. And I would suggest the saltfish for a local flavour. There’s no reason why you can’t try it all on more than one occasion. We had two breakfasts and coffees for TTD$160. Cheno also arranges tours and airport drop-offs and pickups. Cheno’s brother is an avid birder, and is not only responsible for the endless birds visiting the café but also provides birding tours of the forest. Both brothers are friendly and welcoming, and always happy to chat. We used Cheno for our airport shuttle when leaving Tobago, and we had great chats the whole way. He’s very passionate about his community and has invested this passion into his business ventures.More
