Having stayed at stayed at Castara Retreats for a week we dined at the Caribbean Kitchen several times mainly in the evening, both the bar and bar and restaurant decks are superb open plan areas high on the hillside with fantastic outlooks of the bay....The bar has a full range of beers, spirits, and wines to suit everyone’s taste, it also has a special cocktail board, everything we ate in the restaurant was superbly cooked and presented, always fresh seafood, and delightful twists on local cuisine are an added touch, just be aware some offerings maybe be spicy but are offered in varying heats, Schoolboy, Criminal and Gangster, just love it. All the staff are very efficient, friendly, and fun, the cost is relative but not prohibited, and you are guaranteed quality in an exceptional setting. Payment is accepted in TTD or USD, or by card.More

We ate here every night of our stay at Castara Retreats - was a little lazy of us but we had explored the village on our last stay and Caribbean Kitchen just does such good food. The menu is limited and doesn’t change much but...somehow that didn’t matter - the small daily changes to fish, side vegetables etc were enough. Delicious food, great service, good rum punch! Breakfast fantastic too. The staff are so very sweet. Recommend.More

We stayed at Castara Retreats for two weeks in January 2024. Three of us- me, my husband and my lovely Mum. We ate here a few times- would have done more but we were largely self catering. Food was delicious, the staff on service really...kind and friendly. Special regards to Julia and Jenny but everyone was so helpful and caring- especially towards Mum who was at 88 yrs still game but frail ❤️. We’ve booked to return next year. And we will be eating here again! That should say it all!More

We visited the restaurant many times during our stay at Castara retreats and loved it every time! The breakfasts were incredibly tasty with plenty of healthy and inventive dishes. We loved their use of local ingredients and their twist on traditional dishes. The home made...breads and smoothies were incredible and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. This combined with the most breathtaking view in such peaceful surroundings in the morning really made for the perfect start to each day. Dinners were equally special and we were very impressed by their clear sustainability ethos in using the same ingredients in such different ways, again creating inventive and tasty takes on traditional dishes. Yes, the portions are smaller than at other places in Castara but the quality is high and the views are really second to none. This is a spot for a special evening, but we appreciated not having to book in advance. Cocktails were also delicious and service always with a smile.More

We were excited to eat at your restaurant. Unfortunately it really didn’t come up to our expectations. Your sample menu on the web sounds very exciting, with a wide range of mouth watering dishes. A board was out in front of us with only five...dishes to offer for mains. One being a salad. We were looking forward to a Shrimp dish or something equally as tempting. My King fish was quite tough. My friends battered fish was soggy not crisp. Portions exceedingly small. With the disappointment of the main course over we were looking forward to an amazing desert. Nothing to offer but ice cream or a piece of cake. If it hadn’t been such an exhausting walk from the road we would have left after seeing what was on offer. After finishing our meal we attempted to walk down the slope to the road. You really do need to light that walk properly. It’s very dangerous. A very disappointing evening. Such a shame as it was a special occasion for my friend. I am a professional cooking and have had a cooking school in the UK and Italy so I understand what customers expect. IMore

The experience I had warranted 10 out of 10. Staff, food, service everything for me was great. I met and chatted regularly with everyone and saw how much they cared and wanted to improve the food they offered and served.. I think the changes to...the offering are going to be excellent and build on a good foundation. I met and chatted with Julia who is there working with the staff and in the 2 weeks I was there the positive development was visible. I watched them work in that kitchen trying new things and the atmosphere was fantastic. I tasted for them and it was all delicious. I ate mainly fish there which was always beautifully cooked. I loved the Choka and the Lamb Curry was genuinely the best I have ever eaten. I am so very glad there will be a more local theme to the menu because good food is all around you in Tobago. The cocktails were freshly made and very more..ish. Wine choice for me good. Caribbean Kitchen was always clean and beautifully presented. For me it was and will continue to be a great asset to Castara Retreats. Thank you to you all. You know who you are. I will see you next April. Lorna from Shropshire.More
