Went for lunch recently for fiancee's birthday - the food and venue were both superb. From the very start being met in the lounge for drinks order through to the food itself, everything was excellent. A good range of menu options including the set menu of the day, a la carte and tasting menu. The service was also of a... More

We had Friday lunch at the Peat Inn with friends and all of us selected the set lunch menu. Great value, amazing quality and wonderful surroundings. The staff are a real strength of the Peat Inn. They are there to look after every visitor but you never feel overwhelmed by them. All the little extras you get with the set... More

I treated my girlfriend to an evening of fine dining and an overnight stay. The service and attentiveness of the staff is superb, the food was wonderful. This is one of them times when it all has to savoured as it is a real gastronomic experience. There is nothing that is too much trouble for the staff.

Excellent food, service, presentation and attention from the waiting staff was second to none. Chose the set menu of the day which was very good value for money. Enjoyed every mouthful 😄

We chose the tasting menu at The Peat Inn on a cold, snowy evening. A blazing open fire welcomed us on arrival. The chef/owner spent a few minutes with us to describe the tasting menu. Each course was beautifully presented and the flavours were perfectly balanced. The star of the show in my opinion was the venison which was cooked... More

What a fantastic meal, full of flavours and tastes and beautifully presented. We had the set menu which, at £22 is a bargain. The quality of the food was excellent and the service was attentive but not overly so. And the best bit was the froth with every course....beetroot with the amuse boucle was particularly delicate and flavoursome. This is... More

I have never experienced such amazing food and service! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, obviously know the menu and where the food comes from. Local produce cooked to perfection. A picture on a plate and a party in the mouth!! Worth every penny!!!

This was our second recent stay at the Peat Inn. There was not a single morsel of either of the tasting menus or the set dinner that was not exquisite. The flavours and textures are so carefully thought through - the whole dinner experience is a pleasure. It's also very refreshing to find, in addition to the excellent wine menu,... More

It has been a VERY long time since we were at the Peat Inn, and took a chance and phoned for a last minute lunch booking. Found a complete chance to the furnishings since out last visit ( about 20 years ago) and were impressed by the stylish lounge area, offered nice canapés with our drinks. My wife had the... More

Description
The Peat Inn is owned by award winning Chef and columnist Geoffrey Smeddle and his wife Katherine. With Geoffrey at the heart of the kitchen and Katherine's warmth and care filling the restaurant, they have been successful in building on the very fine reputation of one of Scotland's most cherished destinations.
The Inn has existed on this spot since the 1700s. Today, the Michelin starred restaurant with rooms continues to welcome guests who appreciate the special and very personal experience which is the hallmark of The Peat Inn.
Three small dining rooms make up the restaurant, providing an intimate setting for lunch or dinner. Each room is also available for private parties if required. The reception lounge with its deep sofas and open log fire, creates an atmosphere which is elegant and refined and made all the more enjoyable by the friendly and attentive service.
A few steps from the restaurant is The Residence where eight individually designed luxury suites offer the opportunity for a rather special night away, where the pleasures of the table spill over into a charming over-night setting.
From your aperitif upon arrival to coffee and a liqueur before you have to depart, we are sure you will enjoy every moment of the wonderful cuisine and hospitality at The Peat Inn.
