Second visit to this restaurant. Lovely food with a nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive . The only downside is the price especially when you have the eat all you can Buffett . I felt it was a tad expensive for Chiangmai .

We were a group of eight, four from Thailand, three Cambodians, and a Kiwi. We wanted to enjoy our last night in Chiang Mai. The service was excellent, and the food was enjoyed by everyone. They made one small mistake, owned up to it, and...then the owner came out to apologize. For all of us, this was massive!!. We were all very impressed. Wonderful food, wonderful service.More

I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more. I’d never really eaten at a Korean restaurant but it was a delight. The owner/manager (apologies I’m not entirely sure) was just the nicest man. He explained everything on the menu and how it’s traditionally cooked and eaten. The...food was fantastic and really cheap for what you got.More

Amazing food and an amazing host! James was too kind and explained the menu to us. My boyfriend had the mackrel and i took the fire fried chicken Ramyeon. The spiciest dish, but they halved the sauce which made it a bit less spicy. Spiciest...and best noodles i have ever had! We also had some Korean Chicken! To end the meal we had the chocolate brownie with vanilla icecream. James made our evening amazing! Loved the vibes! Definitely recommend it!More

I love Korean food and I was so happy to find KOBQ in Chiang Mai. It’s the best Korean restaurant I’ve ever been to in Thailand. The place is spacious and modern, with a nice view of Nimman Road. The staff are very friendly and...helpful, and they explain everything clearly. The food is amazing, fresh and flavorful. I tried the barbecue buffet and it was worth every baht. They have a variety of meats and vegetables that you can grill on your own table, and they also provide sauces, side dishes, and rice. The meat was tender and juicy, and the vegetables were crisp and tasty. I especially liked the pork belly and the kimchi. They also have some fusion dishes like bulgogi tacos and bibimbap that look very tempting. I will definitely come back to try them next time. KOBQ is a must-try Korean restaurant in Chiang Mai. It has great food, service, and atmosphere.More

There’s a Thai phrase “khong gin len” that means “food to eat for fun” which pretty much sums up KOBQ in Chiang Mai. As novice English travellers to Thailand we were looking for a celebratory birthday meal that was sit down rather than street, has...variety and ideally some English speaking staff not that it would have mattered since the menu has good representative pictures with Thai and actual English. Although we love Thai cuisine we thought Korean might be educational and so it proved. Having eyeballed a few local diners selection we went mad and ordered the KOBQ Signature Buffet with the SOGOGI thick beef sirloin steak with a selection of dips, sauces and sides including Japanese rice (one between two or three is fine). In addition we had a particularly good DOENJANG JJIGGAE which is a traditional Korean soybean paste stew with mixed vegetables including mushrooms, onion, chilli, green beans and, I think, morning glory. Very tasty. The barbecue is clever and follows Szechuan and no doubt Korean tradition where you cook on a hotplate at the table which is great as you can pace yourself. We kicked off with the pork and griddled some garlic, mushrooms and chillies with a splash of seasoned sesame oil with soya sauce then experimented with some of the dozen dips one of which was a bit like Chinese gochujang that worked well. We loaded up lettuce leaves with meat, garlic, and Japanese spring onion which KOBQ brine and dried if I understood it correctly from James the owner. We then experimented with the dips like sweet chilli sauce (good with pork) and homemade kimchi and tim nam Thai seafood sauce which was excellent. Although everyone else was drinking local beer - all locals - we opted to drink a bottle of nice Australian Riesling which lasted two of us the meal taking in the palate cleansing broth that came with the buffet. At this point the heavens opened with a crack of thunder so we decided to try a bottle of Chardonnay and wait out the storm which had brought the terrace diners indoors. That meant we could see their choices. The KAELAN JJIM Korean steamed egg looked enticing as did the POTATO or SEAFOOD PAJEON which are billed as Korean pancakes but look like supercharged omelettes or Kati roll to us. Next time. Anyway, we had a great time and good food which is as much as you can ask for £95 gbp or about 3900 bhat which is a fraction of what you would pay in Lancashire let alone London. You could have a good meal for two for half the bhat. Excellent value. Not too high brow. Excellent food. Lots to choose from so it is what you make it. Attentive staff. Smart kitchen. Could be busy so book ahead. Recommended for foodies. And thank you James for the strawberry tequila shots!More

Nothing remarkable about this restaurant either for its food or its decor. The light is harsh and the premises are basic without charm, a little worn by time and the many customers. We ate there out of desperation given the late hour. The staff were...very friendly but we will not be returning.More
