We came today with very specific requirements. Excellent food and wine, some local history, a cool place to sit and easy access for an elderly relative. All requirements were met. The Apakia was the best we have had in 10 years in Crete. First time...More

We stopped for lunch on the way back from visiting Moni Arkadiou monastery. Lovely setting under lemon trees, with a really rustic feel. Family run, and they take real pride - justifiably - in their cooking from fresh. The lamb shank in lemon sauce is...More

Very special local food, slow cooking dishes, pleasant atmosphere. Starting dinner with a visit in the small museum, and then the music and dancers, all make up to a unique experience.

Very nice place - taverna, museum, food, staff! Everything in menu is home made: meat is outstanding, appetizers are delicious! Every thursday a concert of traditional Crete singing and dancing takes place in Poliou House - must see!

Lovely family owned taverna serving the best food we have had in Crete. Nice, welcoming service, beautiful foliage covered patio. Great wine (need to ask as they are not on the menu) too. Just a few kilometers off the coastal main road.

The food at this family-run gem is outstanding, as is the service. The prices are reasonable, and the food is made from scratch or purchased from local vendors. Easily the best feta cheese I have ever had. The other who cooks here is a whiz....More

Hi, Although we did attend one of the Greek nights we were only drinking on that occasion as we dropped in without a booking. For what it's worth, we ordered drinks - quite a lot of drinks - and we were not charged any... More
