We had walked a few miles from Golf del Sur along the walk way and decided to eat in Los Abrigos ,we read the reviews on Maria's , we were 10 minutes away so I phoned up, so pleased I did because we reserved the last table, this was at 6.30pm. The service was excellent by the waitresses and when I wanted to order my food Maria explained everything that was in the recipes as I don't like any alcohol in my food,Maria made great choices for us. While it was busy, nothing was too much for the staff and it still had a lovely relaxed feel to the place. Thank you Maria. From Paul and Michele 16.01.20

During our yearly vacation at this time of year we always make a point of coming here as the food is great, and the service is very friendly and attentive. Highlights are the paella and the Prawn Curry, the meatball starter is also great and can also be a main if you like it’s that good. I recommend this place for a visit you won’t be disappointed... promise

If you want a good fish restaurant in Los Abrigos at reasonable prices and a pleasant outlook then this is the place for you. Maria’s is on the front overlooking the pretty harbour of Los Abrigos. The welcome and care of Sarah and her staff was excellent throughout. As earlier reports have emphasised the quality of the fish dishes was superb and reasonable in price - the prawn curry drew special praise from a number of our party as did the sea breem. Portion sizes were excellent. The house white rioja was fine.

We were given a recommendation to try this restaurant by a hotel guest. It was a major disappointment. To start, the fruit flies were constantly in our wine glasses and a feral cat kept walking under our table and legs. For being a local ‘Canarian’ restaurant this was expensive and not good tasting. The starter of cheese and olives was most disappointing. It was as though they just opened a package from the grocery store. The chicken skewers were excellent. The risotto dish of prawns and spinach was extremely fishy tasting and did not seem fresh. Unfortunately, my spouse had some side effects later in the evening. From our view, it not worth the money or the time to visit.

It is no surprise to me that you have written here, we could tell from the moment you arrived that you were looking for something to dislike. First of all, we are not a Canarian restaurant and we do not advertise ourselves this way. Second, you were given many opportunities to advise us of your disappointment with the food yet chose not to do so. When I removed the plates from your starters they were empty and you advised me that everything had been ok. Then again you were asked during your risotto and the response was the same. I asked a third time when your spouse came to pay and she advised me that everything had been good. I'm not sure why you consumed everything and then informed me there were no problems if everything had been so bad? And in relation to the fishy tasting risotto. It was a prawn and spinach risotto... we use our own freshly made seafood stock in this to give the rice flavour... prawns and seafood come from the sea... I don't know how else to explain this phenomenon to you without being rude, but of course it tastes like this. We prepare the risotto to order, which is why it takes around 25 minutes, so it is always fresh. Our kitchen is also completely open so anyone can see that everything is prepared fresh here. We also served two more risottos at the same time as yours so the three plates were prepared together. These other two risottos went to the same table and we received these guests again two days later having had no issues with their previous visit. I do not dispute that your spouse suffered 'side effects' later in the evening but it would not have been from our freshly prepared risotto. When my waiter went to serve you your wine you informed him your glass had a smell. When he informed me I checked the glass and immediately approached your table to ascertain the nature of the smell, as I could not detect any odour. You did not seem to like that I was questioning you and very reluctently mumbled something about an egg smell. I rechecked the glass at this point and there was no smell at all, never mind one as distinctive as egg, but we quickly moved on from this. You then questioned if we had any gluten free bread available. I informed you that we did not, as stated in our menu. Our menu is quite clearly marked for all fourteen of the main allergy groups. I then asked if you were coeliac, as this can make a huge difference to the preparations required in the kitchen and also to the menu items which can be adapted to suit your needs. You again did not seem to like that I questioned this and mumbled that it was more of an intolerance. I could have informed you of the specific menu changes that can be made for less severe intolerances, but as I seemed to bother you on the above noted instances I decided to leave you to make your choices from the menu as it stood. You were free and within your rights to write the review you did, as I have been free to respond and expand on the details of your visit, as I have here. At this point there is nothing more either of us can say or do.

We eat here regularly and never disappointed. Fresh fish grilled, always fresh and moist. Today we shared the seafood and fresh fish platter. Delicious 😋 unlike the restaurants nearby who cover their platters with batter, this is all just seasoned and grilled ❤️

My partner and I have lived in Tenerife for a number of years and we both enjoy eating out and trying the local restaurants, and I am sorry that we did not discover Maria Restaurant before. We made a lunch reservation for Sunday 23rd, and were tempted to try a selection of the many tapas on offer. What an excellent idea, all the dishes were served piping hot, delicious and very generous portions and I do urge all lovers of good food to give this place a visit, we will return! In addition, the location is perfect, with great views of the harbour and out to sea, we were also impressed with the cleaning routine, every table and chair got a thorough wipe down after each guest had departed. I have read the negative comments on this site, and cannot believe that these comments were made about Marias, go try for yourself

We visited based on trip advisor reviews and we are so glad we did. It was by far the best meal we had on the island. We had the fish stew and a variety of tapas. The portions we very generous and price was very good for the amount and quality of food we received. If we hadn’t visited at the end of our holiday we would have gone back another evening to try more of the menu. Booking a table was hassle free and could be done on the website and you could reserve a table on the Terrace for a sea view whilst you eat. Will definitely return next time we are in Tenerife.

We have visited Maria's before and always have an excellent meal at this restaurant and this was no exception. We usually walk over from Golf del Sur for a late lunch and decided to have an evening meal. We arrived just after 6pm and the tables were already filling up or reserved. I'd suggest you book online as we saw a dozen people turned away in the time we were there. The service was good and all the waitresses friendly. The tapas was just the best, we ordered a mix of seven meat and fish dishes and a jug of white sangria between 3 of us. The quality and freshness of the food was superb for just €62. I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

Simply the best restaurant experience in our week. Dined there twice and brought friends with us who were bewitched by the diversity of the menu, the quality of the fayre, the perfect setting, the sublime customer service, the value for money and the ease of booking tables. If you are in Golf del Sur DO NOT miss out on this culinary delight. Cab to Los Abrigos only costs 5 Euros and you will not regret it. Thanks to Sara and her team. We will see you soon.

We had an absolutely delightful meal at Maria’s. The selection of bruschetta is out of this world!! Choosing a favorite would be a nightmare, but caramelized onion and goat cheese is mindblowing! Papas arrugadas, tuna teriyaki and breaded chicken breast, as well. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and attentive ladies, not just to us but to every single diner. One thing that made us rush happened when the staff turned off some lights indoors, and began moving food and drinks (around 9.30 pm). We thought they were closing, so we requested the bill quickly, without ordering more drinks and desserts as we had planned. Not the restaurant’s fault, but ours for rushing to conclusions. Ask the staff, don’t be like us! They are just amazing and we’ll be back as soon as possible!! 😍

We dined at Maria’s twice during our holiday and it made the coveted “last night of holiday meal” spot! Not only is the location stunning looking out over the Los Abrigos Marina where the locals come to jump in the sea and where crabs come to sunny themselves, this is where we came to find delicious food and drinks and succeeded! The food here is delicious, we ate across a spectrum of the menu, from the delicious local goat cheese, to the patatas Maria and Bravas, the fresh burro, sumptuous dorado, gorgeous mussels, prawns, desserts and so much more! The drinks were heavenly also, notably the cava sangria, mojitos and mai-tais. If you’re after a stunning meal, whether with kids or as a romantic night out, this is the place to come. It’s not overrun with tourists, it blends into the wonderfully Spanish scene. We will be returning to Tenerife, and this will definitely be the place we come on our first night, and maybe every night after that!

Luckily we seemed to get the last available table for a lazy Sunday afternoon meal. We chose five tapas but the waitress advised that the five we had chosen would be a lot of food so we cut out one and that turned out to be a very good decision. Portions were generous, without being ridiculous, and very tasty (particularly the spring rolls). Great situation sitting looking out on to the harbour and good attentive service. Probably number one in Los Abigos

WOW… This place is amazing. From the super friendly service to the outstanding food. We visited twice during our holiday. First time was for my partners birthday. We had the Chicken and Prawn paella which was absolutely outstanding, so fresh and flavoursome, the best paella we have ever had so we came back a second time. This time we had tapas, the portions are plentiful and the different choices are amazing. Would definitely recommend the Asian Prawns, the sauce was to die for (in fact we used it for dipping in) The service you get from the staff is fabulous. They cannot do enough for you. I would have no hesitation in recommending this super restaurant. I would suggest booking a table early though as this place gets really busy. Thanks to all at Maria for our beautiful meals. We will definitely be back :-)

We had seafood plate for 4 and everything was excellent and very flavorful. (At some places they just grill the seafood without adding any special seasoning except for salt, so this was not the case and we were very happy about the tasty sauces/juice the seafood was cooked in.) The dessert was wonderful as well, with nice presentation. The service was very nice and quick. Very pleasant evening, thank you!

One of the best restaurants we have been to on the island. Tapas starters great, recommend the goats cheese and caramelised bruchetta or any of the fish starters. Our 3 mains were beautifully served, lobster , prawn chilli garlic spaghetti and sea bas. Cocktails were lovely and would recomend the cava sangria. Best advice is to book so your not disappointed, just about all tables on our visit were reserved and a dozen or more groups were turned away while we were there.
