Our Taxi tour took us to this delightful fisherman's village and we watched as fresh Poncha were made, they tasted brilliant. A small bar with friendly welcoming staff.

We went here based on the reviews we had read and were disappointed. While the owner was friendly and welcoming the food sadly did not meet our expectations. At best I'd describe it as average and expensive for what it is however as with all reviews here everyone has different ideas and expectations.

We were on a half day trip which include this lovely little fishing village. We liked the look of this bar and so glad we tried the Poncha, so good, one of the best we tasted. We ended up having two each and any more we would have been speaking Portuguese! Very friendly staff and nice position to watch the... More

We called here on a quick visit to the town and as a result we returned again. The barman was amazing spending time taking us through the local drinks and letting us try different ones. Great service and complimentary snacks. If you want to experience local beverages and great hospitality this is the place to go.

Located in the center of the fishing village this bar offers a variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic options and evens provides a tasting of their version of a health food drink. Free WiFi was available. Great place to people watch and catch up on email while... More

Super little bar that has been good enough for Cristiano Ronaldo (twice) and many senior Portuguese / Madeiran Politicians - including the President - to use over the years! The 'owner' was full of knowledge on local wines and very generous with his snacks and freebies. It's a tiny venue with some tables outside but just a delight to sit... More

Decided to rest ourselves & what a great place to pick. Very friendly welcome & good service. The owner & the gentleman behind the bar not only made us fresh Poncha but explained the process & history of the drink also. We sat & watched the world pass by as we drunk our poncha & decided to stay for a... More

I had been stopping at Sete Mare for a drink but got fed up with the glum faces. I wouldn't say the Bar Filhos do Mar is a barrel of laughs but it serves a purpose and is clearly the place to be if you want Ponchas. Good cheap beer with nuts and a very attractive barmaid who may well... More
