Location and contact

A pretty, thatched traditional pub and restaurant, the Punchbowl and Ladle has masses of character both inside and out. Parts of the building date back to the 15th century and during the 17th century it was a hostelry for travellers and mariners crossing the river Fal on the King Harry Ferry. Legend has it that part of the building was employed as a customs house, and the original fireplace in the bar was used to destroy confiscated contraband! Today, Graham & Jacqui Hill and their team welcome you warmly into the pub that has two bars, a large dining area and plenty of cosy nooks and corners for people to sit in comfort.

Visited here at the weekend with my family and was really surprised how big this place was. The staff were all really lovely and welcoming and work really hard. This place was exceptionally busy on the Sunday we visited. We started off with the broccoli...More

We are down here for a winter break. We stumbled across this lovely pub today. It’s a Sunday so being vegetarians we thought we’d get the usual token veg lasagne or risotto. But no, for under a tenner we had a massive plateful of roasted...More

Whilst in the bar I witnessed a slim, short grey haired lady speak with such aggression and disrespect towards one young waitress. I had watched the young waitress work hard whilst providing everyone with a lovely warm and welcoming smile despite the constant negativity from...More

This was our first visit for about 10 years. Lovely pub with plenty of seating, warm friendly welcome by patron. The food looked lovely and it was ok - not astonishing. But the big let down for our party was the bread and pudding from...More

This pub is local to us. It looks cosy but it's not. It's freezing! No heating that I could detect. No blazing fires. Wear lots of layers and go for hot chocolate. Personally I wouldn't enjoy a meal shivering with the cold. They need to...More
