I and three friends booked a table for 4 - we'd just a short, but strenuous walk, which involved going up old Winchester Hill. We were welcomed by cheerful staff. The pub/restaurant is relatively small, so booking is recommended. Our soft drinks soon arrived, and we perused the menus and ordered our meals. I chose the mixed fish and seafood... More

Amazing food, this visit I had the crab and prawn starter, fresh and delicate yet filling, followed by the belly pork. Beautiful crackling, luxurious dauphinoise and a rich jus. One of my ultimate fav's and The Shoe do it incredibly well. The fact I can buy some of their yummy peppercorn sauce (Hampshire Pantry) and fresh homemade bread to take... More

Cycled to The Shoe with Grandchildren & enjoyed excellent lunch sitting in the garden by the adjacent river. Superb setting with Old Winchester Hill in the distance.

We went to the Shoe and had a great meal and found the pub to be so pretty and quaint, we can't wait to go back in the Summer and sit in the lovely pub garden by the stream. The smell of home made bread is definitely going to have you going home with a loaf or two and the... More

So often is the time where you turn up at an eatery woo'd by the promising pictures of culinary things you can't pronounce and have little idea of which foreign crevice some intrepid, deer stalker touting, sas trained, combat chef has prized it from. Not here. This is amazingly cooked, imaginatively created food at its best. You won't be dripped... More

We were staying with local friend that recommended this charming little pub and we ended up eating there twice. Each meal was delicious and had to splurge on some of the lovely "top shelf" wine. Cozy fire for the January evenings, great in-house cooked bread (we took a loaf home) and friendly service.

I have chosen the falafel burger with sweet potato fries four times now at the Shoe and never been disappointed. In fact several of our friends who have eaten here with us have also selected the vegan meal even though they are not vegan and been impressed. The coffee is also excellent. Wherever you live, the Shoe at Exton is... More

Stopped here unexpectedly after a walk from Winchester hill and is now a firm favourite. Unfortunately we didn't pre book so sat outside (luckily it was a nice day) but once we had finished we went inside planning to sit at the bar to finish our drinks and the barman said they'd actually just had a cancellation and gave us... My Husband and I found this place by chance one day coming back from Fareham on the motorbike it's down a little narrow road. We have not eaten inside & I would advise to book as there is limited seating. We mainly visit in the summer so we can sit in the garden by the river, beautiful setting on a... More
