There is car parking adjacent and easy access into the restaurant. Luckily we thought to book a table as the restaurant was very busy and apparently usually is. Many of the other diners appeared to be locals and regulars - a good sign. The food was very tasty and ample portions. The staff were very friendly and made us feel... More

The canalside position, on the Oxford Canal near Banbury has meant that for many years this pub and its lovely little courtyard has been a fixture on the touring schedule of the Mikron Theatre Company, which tours by narrowboat. You have to book well in advance to secure a table that night - especially if you want a courtyard one... More

It was a nice surprise to be taken out mid week. What a treat. Arrived at the GWA. Table booked and ready for us. Extensive menu and it was hard to pick but I just had the bread and hummus to start and hubby had the chicken strips. Both divine and his starter was practically a main course. For mains,... More

Private party for friends, pre wedding celebrations. First time to this pub, I would definitely recommend. Staff really welcoming, homely put classy pub, separate private area for us and food was amazing. Obviously used to catering for parties, staff came around with canapés at the bar first and the food arrived hot, plenty of it. Great atmosphere and excellent food.

Fillet steak was to die for!! Perfectly cooked (medium rare) and plenty of sides, veg and peppercorn sauce.

We went for a meal on a Friday night, it was busy but we had booked a table & were shown to it straight away. One of our party is a coeliac and she said the menu had alot of choice for her, so she was really pleased. We all had a different dish and all agreed the ones we... More

It was a lovely location and very friendly pub restaurant. We all choose the roasts for the main course which were generous in portion and good value this was followed by a white chocolate and raspberry brûlée and chocolate torte, and ice cream I would have scored this with a five had it not been for the gravy served with... Round our way many pubs change their chefs and therefore reviews are often out of date. We returned to the GWA after a break of a year or so and the food and service were as good as ever.
