We have always received a very warm welcome and the food is delicious - good size portions and good value for money. Our son says their burgers are the best he's ever eaten (and he's eaten a few!). Friendly service. Excellent Covid precautions in place. We will be back soon.

Viisited today as we have never been despite visting this area for decades. No problem with the dog inside this quaint very typical 'English village pub'. Large beer garden to the rear but we opted to sit inside. I had a first class chicken club sandwich but wanted white bread which they didnt have, only ciabata. That said the alternative offered was nice and the sandwich and the fries were first class. Wife had a crab sandwich which perhaps was more expensive than we normally pay BUT the quality of the crab meat was top notch. The Proper Job was great too, well kept and the temp. was spot on. Only docked a star due to the lack of bread choice, if it hadnt been for that definitely 5 stars. Friendly helpful staff too. We will definitely be back before we go home.

A fortunate visit for Sunday Lunch today at the Crown Inn, St Ewe.. After a long morning walk in the hot sun, we decided to chance our luck and 'drop in' and see if they could serve us. It was the closest pub to where we walked (Caerhays) A warm welcome (Sunday, around 1215) and we were lucky to get a table for 2 without booking. As we sat down we heard a discussion 'that's it now, no more walk ins, we are fully booked'. We both chose the Roast Beef Sunday Lunch (Pork and Turkey was also available, as well as a veggie option) and it was delicious. Highly recommended. Lovely beef and vegetables and the largest Yorkshire pud we had seen for a while. The staff were attentive and friendly, all round a good lunchtime stop. An excellent pint of Tribute rounded off the lunch. Highly recommended. But make sure you book.....we were lucky.

My husband and I booked a table for my birthday just the two of us for early evening meal. We arrived bang on time . 15 mins later order was taken we then waited 25 mins for our starter whilst waiting another 35 mins for our mains we observed the Covid safety aspect only the main entrance door was open and no other door or windows open , this is a country pub so low ceilings and whilst a few had masks on 70% did not. So there was no airflow and every table was full by the time our mains arrived . There was an older lady serving and a younger lady both looked very harassed neither had masks and they came very close to our faces when delivering food. We eat out at least three times a week and this is by far the least Covid safe place we have eaten in the last few weeks. We were going to make another booking but felt really strongly that this was not a Covid safe place to eat,.we could not wait to leave, The starters were nice but my husbands main course brisket was very dry and chewy so all in all was very let down.

Hi Maggie L. Sorry to hear that you felt your table service, dining and anti COVID experience(s) at the Crown were so poor. I do hope you mentioned some (or hopefully!) all of your concerns to a member of staff. If you had, I know that, if at all possible, something would be done about it. You say that you feel 'let down'. This is the last thing that we would want. As you will be aware, most COVID restrictions were lifted from July 19th. This included the mandatory wearing of face masks. It is recommended in smaller spaces but not obligatory.

Our fourth visit this holiday and second time for food. Beer is St Austell ales and extremely well kept. Good choice of decent wines at a good price. Made us and our dog very welcome. Pub is multi rooms and has a garden too. All extremely clean. We both had calamari to start and then fish and chips and a fish burger all was freshly cooked and delicious. Very relaxed and great service.

We called in on the off chance.. we’re made to feel really welcome, there’s a great choice of food along a ‘specials’ board… I have to say the staff are very friendly, made you feel like a regular and the food… well that is absolutely delicious, the steak I had was cooked to perfection and the portions are plenty big enough, great value for money … if you’re in the area definitely look this fab little pub up.. dessert was strawberries and cream cheesecake with clotted cream… perfect! I’d rate this higher than 5 if I could..

We booked for a Sunday lunch and were not disappointed! The tables were well spaced out and the staff seemed to be being very careful. We all had a roast - 2 beef, 1 pork and 1 with a yorkie and without meat (cos he’s awkward!). The beef came with Yorkshire puddings while the pork came with crackling. Both were served with delicious roast potatoes and roast chantenay carrots. There was then a big bowl of mixed green veg, and a bowl of cauliflower cheese. The latter was delicious and, as the kids don’t like it, my wife and I got to eat all of it! Yum! The kids fancied having dessert but ended up giving plenty to us grown-ups as they couldn’t manage it all. The waffle was really nice. The crumble was very hot, and had more fruit than crumble, but tasted nice. We also enjoyed the beer, and left completely satisfied. Highly recommended!

Came here for the first time for food yesterday and I could not fault a single thing. Everything from the friendly and attentive service to the amazing food. I would also like to point out we were told the head chef was away and only the second chef was there and every meal was superb. We all had starters and mains, beautifully cooked flavourful and beautifully presented. I had the pasta and asked for an alternative for the salad- I received a large potion of various nicely cooked vegetables and was made to feel as nothing was to much hassle. Specials board were different and all the food was just amazing. I could not recommend this place enough. Thank you to all the staff and of course the chefs. Can not wait to go again soon.

My husband and I and son Charlie had a meal here last night. The beer was well kept and staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The menu was varied and it was tough making a choice but I had the Prawn and Monkfish curry which was divine, (I would have struggled to cook better myself) Husband had Kalamari then Veg lasagne which disappeared rapidly There was a healthy mix of both local and tourists, some of whom were taking advantage of the Brit stop scheme We felt very safe re Covid as tables well spaced and staff were mindful to protect everyone there I will definitely be back soon to try other dishes. Well done by all! Karen from Devon

Saw the signs for The Crown Inn on the way back home to Newquay - popped in and was greeted by friendly staff who despite it being busy were able to accommodate us without booking. The chef was at the bar and said he had just made some bean burgers and offered to do a mushroom, blue cheese and leek pie with a crumble topping. The price of the meal and two drinks was right. The pie the chef made was excellent really tasty, enjoyed it a lot the bean burger was also very good, the food was quick to come out. All in all a very good experience nothing to complain about all.

Booking a must at this pub in the countryside. What I call that traditional pub feel, atmosphere and menu to match. There are specials of the day mixed with a more traditional menu to choose from and prices to me on the reasonable side for good quality food. I had the Gammon with extra Egg and Pineapple, the good lady had Steak, mushroom and ale pie, both very generous portions and delicious. If there is one criticism the use of fries was not the best choice by the chef as opposed to the preferred proper chips which would have topped off a delicious meal to the excellent standard in my opinion. Calamari starter had a nice chilli hit too. Staff friendly and helpful for a very busy establishment. When back in Cornwall another visit will occur. Thanks.

We visited this pub this evening whilst on holiday in the area, and have to say we were so glad that we chose it. It's in a very quaint Cornish village, and the pub itself is beautiful, very cosy, and with a good atmosphere. Extremely friendly and efficient staff. We had a starter to share of squid with a dipping sauce, very good, and then I had a chicken and chorizo pie with a crumble topping, and my wife chose the mushroom linguine. Considering the pub was busy with diners and drinkers we didn't have to wait too long, and both our meals were piping hot and very tasty, credit to the chef. Beer was good too, so all in all a good evening of food and drink, at very reasonable prices. Thanks very much.

We pre-booked our table as we were holidaying and had been warned it may be difficult to get a table at little local pubs in Cornwall due to the number of people holidaying I'm the area. Glad we did as when we arrived there was a sign on the door stating nontabkes free for the evening. We were promptly seated and asked what drinks we would like and given the menu to look over as well as being advised of the specials for the day (more on this to come). Drinks came fast even though there were a fair number of patrons already in the bar/restaurant. Our order was taken, and within 15 mins the starters were out, when the starters were cleared, ten mins later the mains came out, bit of a mixup but these things happen not the end of the world. YOU MUST have the beef brisket if it is on the specials board, it was absolutely amazing, possibly the best beef brisket I've tasted. All four of us (2 adults, 2 children) could not fault any of the food or service. There was a lovely welcoming nature to the pub and the service etc was brilliant. If and when we return to Cornwall, we will definitely return to this lovely pub.
