Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The latest of several Saturday lunchtime visits recently. The food was fantastic as always, with generous portions. We were very well looked after and despite it being busy, no long wait times for food or drinks. Thank you, see you again soon!

Visited for lunch, ordered the Wednesday special fish and chips which was a very good portion size for the money and, I'm told, was delicious. I am coeliac so ordered barbecue chicken marked GF on the menu. However, the chef came to discuss my choice...with me as he had not personally prepared the marinade himself so could not 100% guarantee that all ingredients were GF. Order changed very quickly and food bought out nice and fast too, and it was lovely!More

Excellent and very reasonably priced fish and chips on a Wednesday in a warm and comfortable dog friendly bar. 1st class staff and add to that a choice of Timothy Taylor’s beers and what could be better?

Booked lunch here as we had been before and found the vegan selection to be quite good. I advised beforehand that 4 of the party were vegan. There was only a choice of jacket potato, loaded fries or a burger served with fries, on the...menu. We were disappointed with the burgers as they were very basic for the price (£16!) and there was no smashed avocado as described on the menu. My husband thought it was very bland and a small serving. Staff were really pleasant and friendly so it was a shame about the burgers.More

We came for lunch with family and my sister who is a resident in Redbourne. Staff were really friendly and great with our young daughter and infant son. Menu was quite big in terms of mains, selection was smaller for the starters which we didn't...see anything we fancied so we stuck with the mains. Fish and chips are always good here as they are fresh with fish from Grimsby. Good selection of beers. I had lasagne and some loaded hunters chicken fries which were nice. Next time though I will ask for some more BBQ sauce as they were a little dry. Children's menu was good and kids ate everything in sight. Was reasonably priced and the high chairs have shoulder straps which was good, not every place has them for small infants. Residents get 10% off the bill if you tell them when you ask for the bill and it's not on an offer. I read a few posts on here of people being confused about that but easily cleared up by asking.More

Booked a table for Easter Saturday evening, arrived in time got meals 40 mins later. Very limited choices as we were told that unbelievably they had NO chicken although there were 4/5 chicken dishes on the menu. So went with gammon [more like bacon], lasagna...which was dry and little filling, sausage and mash [best, but small sausages served on what I would call a side plate. Staff only said sorry about that but offered a dish of salad to compensate. Won’t be returning.More

The breakfast is unrivalled at the Red Lion. The friendly welcome you get each morning always sets you up for the day. Nothing is too much trouble and Lolly in the kitchen dishes up a full English Breakfast like no one else. We have been...coming for breakfast for the last 5 years as no one else can match them for quality of produce and taste.More

This was our third visit recently for Sunday lunch as the previous two visits had been excellent, however, this Sunday was unfortunately a little disappointing. The food was not hot very & we felt the portions were not as generous as had been previously. There...was a large table booking so maybe they were running out of food , the service was good though & the staff are always very helpfulMore

The Red Lion hosted our car club lunch. We had 28 attendees, all sitting down to eat at the same time. It's no mean feat cooking and serving so many people in such a short space of time, but we were really well looked after....The food (all from the normal restaurant menu) was delicious and everyone had a great time. Many thanks to the staff of the Red Lion for looking after us so well!More
