Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived in the village for a holiday, reserved a table for the Friday night, we were sat in the perfect spot in front of a beautiful fire and the food was delicious, the staff were lovely so we Booked the same table for Sunday...Roast. Sadly the fire was not lit, the pub was cold. Our food was missing roast potatoes and the food was sadly only warm. For this reason we left early 🤷‍♀️More

We live in the village so this is our local. A very nice country pub. The pub was warm and friendly, we sat nice and cosy near the open fire. We had 2 x fish and chips and 1 gammon. The service was quick with...condiments already on the table a nice pleasant lunch with our friendMore

Really good service. The pub was warm.and clean. I opted for the ploughman's . It was a right plate full .The scotch egg was the best I've ever had, warm, just the right texture and flavoursome. My mum ordered the light bite fsh coupons and cips.They...looked lovely .We will definitely return. This was recommended on eating around Doncaster and it lived up to its expectationsMore

Booked in for sunday lunch, its a place well known to us usually for summer outdoor drinks as its in a beautiful setting and sometimes a meal. Sunday roast was good, can’t grumble at the price as it seems all pubs are £5/£6 more expensive...than a year ago/ 18 months ago for sunday lunch. Service was slowish but we weren’t in a rush so didnt bother us, front of house team were very pleasant. So apart from staff shortage and price which this awful government and Brexit are responsible for we enjoyed the experience.More

Last night we went to the Red Lion Coaching Inn, at Redbourne - a small village just off the A15 on the east side of Scunthorpe. We’ve not been here for many years, but the menu sounded good and it’s not too far away for...us . We chose prawn cocktail tart (with shredded lettuce and lemon gel in the base), home made Scotch egg (served warm), and goats cheese on sourdough bread. Main courses were fish and chips, moules mariniere, mussel and king prawn linguine and bouillabaisse. Desserts choices were tiramisu, chocolate brownie, and chocolate and orange cheesecake. It was a great meal and we met the chef to thank him personally. It’s well worth the drive to eat here!More

Lovely pub ,food pretty good , deserts lovely , but did find a hour and ten minutes a long time for our food to be served , and then had to find someone to take a order for our dessert, and to take our plates...away . We ate in the restaurant part and was the only ones in there , and felt we had been forgotten about !More

We used to go to the red lion all the time for a Sunday carvery and really enjoyed it, sadly, the quality of the Sunday dinners, has drastically gone down hill. Hard roast potatoes, chewy meat, like warm gravy, we will not be returning. There...are far better local spots for a good roast.More

Wanted to have a stop on way back from York for lunch. Choose two meals from the light bites. Chicken goujons and fish goujons both with hand cut chips. Both were home made and fresh and tasty. As we are not big eaters we found...the meal to be very satisfying and very good value. Will certainly be returning next time we are in the area .More

My wife and I booked for Sunday lunch as this is one of our favourite pubs in the area. We ordered one chicken supreme and one slow roasted beef, both meats were moist tender and plentiful. Good selection of veg and a Yorkshire pudding on...each plate, the veg could have done with being hotter and roast potatoes could do with being roasted a little longer. My wife had cheesecake with ice cream and I had fruit crumble with custard, both deserts were delightful. All in all we enjoyed our meal so much we booked for tonight. Well worth a visit, staff efficient and friendly and pleasant surroundings.More

Booked a Sunday lunch. Was attended to promptly. Waitress who took our order was very friendly and helpful. Food wise, it was excellent. Plenty on the plate. By the time we'd had our dessert, we were full. I had the chicken supreme, husband had Gammon....Both served with, mash, roast potatoes, red cabbage, a caramelised carrot and parsnip. Mashed Swede and carrot . The Yorkshire pudding was huge. Dessert was, orange and chocolate cheesecake and cream. Price ( not including drinks) £18 each for the two courses. A definite return.More

A very good lunch and a pint! I had the Ploughman’s and my friend had the Gammon. Delicious food, well presented. Food was made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. A very friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended!!!

This is an excellent place for food. We have been quite a few times and it never disappoints. The meals are freshly cooked and very decent sized portions. I struggled to finish mine we all had different meals and every one looked and tasted amazing....We have not tried the Sunday carvery but that's going to be next month. I don't think it's badly priced considering it's such a high quality cuisine. I would highly recommend it, yes it's off the beaten track but it's well worth the visitMore
