I was impressed to get fresh local produce, cooked to perfection and great choice too, as I require gluten free food. It was so lovely to be offered savoury instead of just CAKE, which I don't eat anyway. Also at sensible prices too. The staff were truly nice and friendly. It was a lovely visit on a cold November day.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review. I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed our menu, and our gluten free choices. Within the kitchen team we have direct experience of various food intolerances, including coeliac and lactose intolerance, so we really do know how challenging it can be to eat out. We're also acutely aware... More

The cottage shop and restaurant/tea room is right next to Sweetheart Abbey and the car park. Small gift shop with a stock of good quality items at the front. The tea room/resturaunt is to the rear. The food and service are excellent and the staff are welcoming. I really liked it there. Individual, not a chain.

Thank you so much for your review - I'm delighted to read that you enjoyed your visit to Abbey Cottage. As you say, we're not a chain, but a family owned business and most our team live very locally. We started making soup, baking cakes and serving teas and coffees more than 30 years ago, and the property itself has... More

I'm probably cheating a bit here as we didn't actually go into the cafe, but I just had to review the gift shop, which is part of the cafe. Lovely selection of goods and friendly staff. The shortbread we took home to my uncle was apparently the best he had ever tasted - not bad considering he's 89 years old.... More

However, coerced by my wife who had been previously. SHAME ON ME! I usually regard these places for ' old foggies ' only. Turned out to be a fabulous lunch stop. Tasty food and nice tables outside for doggy people like us.

We called here for lunch having read reviews on Trip Advisor. Lovely cafe, soups, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, cakes etc on the menu at reasonable prics. Efficient friendly staff, nice little gift shop.

A gem of a tea room after a visit around the Sweetheart Abbey. Although it was late in the day they had a very nice menu selection and a selection of cakes. It was nice to be able to sit out side in their garden and enjoy the view of the Abbey. The servcie was very good and the staff... More

Visited here with my husband and dog and we sat outside in the lovely peacefully garden with views of the hills and Sweetheart Abbey. Menu had a great array of vegetarian options for me to select from and not the usual cheese with onion or cheese with pickle or in fact cheese with cheese. I went for the butternut squash... More

We stopped in for lunch at Abbey Cottage just after visiting the gorgeous Sweetheart Abbey. The menu selection was actually quite diverse, and the everything was well priced. The service was very good, and the food was even better. Should you find yourself in New Abbey, I definitely recommend

But that is no reason not to go in for lunch. The menu is quite large, and the lunch we had was delicious. All kinds of soups and sandwiches, paninis and other items. It is right across the street from Sweethearty Abbey, and is a delightful place for lunch, or to shop in their gift shop.

We visited this cafe twice during our short stay in the area. We had lunch both times, having previously found the cafe and had their scones. All our meals were absolutely lovely. Their soup was home made, portion sizes more than ample, and the meringues were delicious! It was so good we went back the second time to let my... More
