The service was adequate, the setting nice and the food was a manufactured rubbish. Reminded me of microwaveable meals for the elderly. We left 90% of our meal, paid without complaint which is typically British, and will not return. Such a shame !!

We thoroughly enjoyed lunch at this lovely village pub. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming, and the food fresh and delicious. There was a great choice on the menu and the prices were very reasonable. We'll certainly visit again, and would recommend to anyone.

Went here twice during our recent trip to Whitchurch. The first time was just for a drink and the second was for a pub meal. Food was what you’d expect from a pub, came out hot and served quickly which was what we were after....More

The King's Arms has had an excellent facelift and provides a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. We chose home made pies, fish and chips and one of our party had the gluten free option, although he could also have eaten the fish and chips. The meals...More

Description
The Kings Arms is an attractive and historic 16th Century property built in c.1575. It became an inn in 1675. During the civil war, troops of King Charles I were billeted at the Kings Arms in October 1664 before the second battle of Newbury. The pub has been subject to a substantial, yet sympathetic refurbishment by owners Red Oak Taverns, re-opening in September 2013. All areas of this period building have been updated, whilst retaining the original features and character of the pub. The commercial kitchen has been completely re-fitted and the pub will once again offer an exciting and affordable menu to our customers. The Kings Arms is, at its heart, a traditional community pub designed to appeal to a broad cross-section of the local residents, whilst also welcoming the many visitors who frequent this historic town. The new pub layout allows for diners to eat in comfort whilst bar games can be played and live sports shown in the 'bar and snug'.
