About
The Tollemache Arms is situated 4 miles off the A1 in the beautiful village of Buckminster, between Colsterworth and Melton Mowbray on the B676.The bar is open to everyone, their muddy feet and their dogs! Tasty bar nibbles such as home roasted mixed nuts, olives, pickled eggs and much more are prepared by the Chef and a selection of draught beers and local ales are changed regularly - all to be enjoyed in front of a cosy fire during the cold winter months! The dining room offers intimacy and the menu offers pub classics or sandwiches at lunchtime as well as bar snacks and other dishes to push your palate. The library is ideal for coffee mornings, meetings and an area for the children, with

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Tollemache Arms in Buckminster is quite a convoluted experience. There are positives and negatives. Imagine the film Deliverance meets the pub in American Wearwolf in London and you're not too far off regarding the locals. Small group of people intermarry over long time... Read...between the lines and I'm sure you'll all understand! It is only fair and correct that they're called out. Still... owners of pub pleasant and the pub itself pretty nice also. Food good and drinks good too. Nasty locals though... But they have yellow spines too... They would never dare look into the whites of a person's eyes... Cowards... A good pub in a backward location.More

Our experience at this hotel was amazing. For a start, it’s absolutely beautiful and the pictures of it online really don’t do it justice. I was there with my husband and mum in law, and are en suite rooms were both stunning with much attention...to detail. The bar staff - and it’s an extensive bar with many tables - were very accommodating and polite with good humour. But beyond all of the above, the food was outstanding. We had dinner last night and breakfast this morning; and it was delicious. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone who likes beauty, organisation, and a friendly service.More

Lovely overnight stay. Clean and comfortable room and friendly host. Food was ok but not a lot of choice and the meal came with tinned peas rather than fresh/frozen

Absolutely first class home cooked food. Had the pie of the day which was steak. Perfect short crust pastry with a deep fill of tender steak. Never had a better pie !

We booked a table for a Thursday evening in early March, though it turned out not to be necessary as we were the only ones eating in the restaurant. The pork loin was enjoyable, generous portions with plenty of vegetables. Pleasant surroundings, friendly staff and...a lovely log fire on a cold night. Reasonable prices, too. Certainly deserving of more custom than they had this evening.More

A superb place-they saved our wedding day when our caterers cancelled the day before. Tracey and her staff willingly stepped in and produced a fantastic range of dishes which our 120 guests really enjoyed. The selection of speciality dishes were lovingly produced. Service, dedication and...professional were exemplary!! Highly recommended and we cannot thank you enough, we will return !More

A mediocre lunch. Ordered roast beef sandwich with horseradish and soup. The roast beef was just a grey slab between pieces of ready sliced bread smothered in margarine. No horseradish! The soup tasted suspiciously of canned tomato soup with some bits thrown in. On the...positive side the bar staff were very friendly.More

The Tollemache Arms pub in Buckminster has great potential and is situated in quite a pretty area for the Midlands of England. However, the place is rather tarnished by the peculiar people in the local area who become the resident barflies. These locals have an...odd mentality - they view people from nearby villages as strangers! - and they have these strangely glazed, dead eyes and blank facial expressions. Considering the year is 2022 and not 1722, it is all rather odd and off-putting to put it in a polite manner. Saying that, the menu is decent enough and the drinks average to good, so in that regard the place is okay. Sadly, the bizarre and very unhealthy mentality of the locals creates a rather bleak and dead location. Plenty of other options nearby.More

A one night stay mid week, so the place was all but empty. Paula and Toni saved things as far as hospitality goes. The room was basic; lack of bathroom shelves (toilet bags rested on the cistern) and no full length mirror (we were attending...a wedding the next day). Food was average.More

I’ve been 3 times in the past few weeks and each time they’ve been shut even though Facebook and the opening times on the door say they’re open. Try the Blue Dog at Sewstern if you want drinks, well kept ales and lagers. If you...want food, I’d recommend the Jackson Stops at Stretton.More

Buckminster is a quintessenially rural hamlet, set in simply glorious East Midlands countryside. The Inn, on the Main Street, whilst a good couple of centuries old, has been tastefully refurbished in contemporary style, but neverless exudes a warm, convivial ambiance, enhanced by an open fireplace...and comfy easy chairs, by the street entrance. Ample parking is available at the rear. A well stocked bar and tables, for couples or foursomes, are nearby, leading to a more roomy dining area beyond. The menu offers an electic mix of popular favourites and house specialities, which should suit most palates and pockets. Service was prompt, polite, efficient and friendly. The fare was well presented and very tasty. My fish dish (cod) was quite the best for years. Fair value too. We've dined there twice, as a couple and in a foursome, five if you count our (welcomed) Dandie Dinmont Terrier. We shall return.More
