The pub is nestled in the village of Burham, amidst glorious Kent countryside and situated only 5 miles from both Maidstone and Rochester. We pride ourselves on the quality and range of steaks we offer, dry aged on site and proudly on display in the restaurant. We visited for the third time ever... Which happens to also be our third time in a year. The steak is divine. The staff are friendly. The steak is worth every penny. And we will return again. We reccomend this place at every opportunity. We...brought our parents here after our first visit as we were so impressed with it. And will continue to enjoy anniversary meals here. Warning there is not alot of parking, but it has parking which alot of places located in small villages do not. It is in a small village so people should be quiete leaving. There is a back courtyard and all three times we have come I was pleased to see that people do respect the neighbours and are very quite. A relaxing atmosphere.More

Six friends Saturday night could barely hear each other speak. It was so loud food was average I had the sirloin steak not very tasty and tough The two fillet steaks very small, but okay monkfish was okay. Bill was £600 including a £58 tip...which we thought was excessive. Went to the butchers in Bearsted two weeks ago wasn’t impressed with that either the triple cooked chips were like bullets to improve, or I’m back to fish on the greenMore

We were to have a birthday celebration at The Butchers Block last night. In fairness the "poor" rating is in the absence of actually staying to have a meal. The "poor" stems from the fact that they have two seating types, which is not immediately...clear to those booking online OR from the confirmation emails. They have an actual seated restaurant but they also have bar seating which are seats in the very small bar area, where you would be rubbing shoulders with those using the 'pub' aspect of the Butchers Block. Having been shown a table factually no more that 5 feet from the door as our table for four - we decided to leave. Most unfortunate and avoidable - hence the "poor" rating. Another group of four arrived at the same time as us and shared the same view - that dinner for four does not tally with sitting in the bar and they were equally disappointed. I would advise anyone booking to avoid booking anything in the "bar" and would invite The Butchers Block to make this distinction far more clear on their booking site & web site. Very disappointed - we were very much looking forward to dinner.More

My friends and I had a table booked for 7 of us to celebrate 2 of our parties birthdays. As soon as I walked in I noticed the place had a lovely, old village pub feel. After confirming we were there for a dinner reservation...we were led through to a lovely slightly more modern looking dining area that continued with the welcoming atmosphere. Our main waitress was Debora (apologies if the name spelling is incorrect) who was friendly and talked us through the different meats that were curing in house, but all of the waitress' and bar staff were efficient and professional. The food was stupendous! Everyone enjoyed all of their dishes stating the flavours were fantastic and the meat dishes were also of an impressive size with absolutely amazing flavours. It didn't end there though as the deserts were also exceptional. I can highly recommend the 'From the Woods' dessert but I won't say anything else as I don't want to spoil the surprise. Luckily we are local so I looking forward to going back again soon.More

After reading some grear reviews, I was excited to go here for my 30th birthday, but was left higely underwhelmed. There was over an hour between starters finishing and mains arriving. Its very cramped and too busy making it an uncomfortable area to enjoy. I...ended up telling our server/manager, politely, that i felt the wait was unacceptable and they pushed back and asked exactly how long this took and wanted specifics before they would even think about accepting it happeend. They basically argued that my point was invalid and I should be happy to wait this long. Also yeah the food is ok, but nothing special at all. Overpriced and underwhelming. I wouldn't bother. It ruined my 30th birthday and I cant get that back now.More

We went for lunch in early January. Good selection of starters and small plates to share for the table. Great little country pub with a welcoming and cosy feel. Staff were good, service was a little slow in my opinion. Starters were delicious but very...small portions. I had sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection so shout out to the chef. All round a good lunch but quite pricey (£90 for both of us, starter each and a main each, with a Diet Coke and a pint of Curious Brew) Go and check it out for yourselves and see what you think.More

3 of us had booked for lunch at 12:30 on a Thursday so it was fairly quiet which was nice. The atmosphere was really nice and with great service and food, this was a lovely lunchtime experience. We all had the prawn and haddock fish...cakes which were crispy and very tasty. Mains were the risotto, fish and chips and the steak, ale and stilton pie. We all agreed that the food was superb. My pie was rich and very tasty with great pastry and gravy. The chips with the fish were simply the best chips we’ve ever eaten. Bottom line…it’s not your average pub grub and the price reflects that, but worth every penny for great food with good size portions too. Definitely recommendedMore

Another birthday meal for the wife’s birthday and we weren’t disappointed. Considering the time of year, the restaurant area was very quiet. But this didn’t affect the service received or the quality of food. Great value for money even if a ribeye and sirloin was...ordered. A great place.More

Chose to go here as we had heard good reviews. Restaurant became well filled during our visit so it's probably advisable to book. All the food was well cooked and presented with sensible timings between courses although a bit of time waiting as food is...freshly prepared. No real ale option at the time of our visit for those who need to know. None of our party were big drinkers so 'Are you all right for drinks?' became a little bit too frequent and began to feel pushy rather than attentive. That said, servers were all very polite and attentive.More

There are a few things that are just dead set British from discussing weather, queuing and the staple Sunday Roast. With that, comes the great debate… what makes a great Sunday Roast. Well, simply put. This one does. There’s no shying away this is another...price point away from your £10-12 classic pub roast but this elevates it to another level. Just an amazing, hearty and worthy meal to warrant what you pay. To get the beef and lamb quality and the sides is just belly warming joy!More

We came here today for my partner’s 30th Birthday. Absolutely faultless. Literally couldn’t find any fault with the food. So delicious! Service was great as well. We had the pork croquette and sour dough with the bacon butter to start and fillet steaks for main....Steak was cooked to perfection! Will definitely be back. Probably the best steak we have ever had.More

Sadly a disappointing second visit. Visited once before mid week and food was exceptional. Thought I would treat the family to a Sunday roast. We had starters of a beef croquette which was adequate and well presented. The crab/shrimp risotto which was very good. Then...the camembert which was roasted with toast. This however was out of date when my wife and child noticed. After they had eaten it. It was almost 3 weeks out of date (13.09.2023). We pointed this out to the waitress who was exceptional and very apologetic. She fed this back to the Chef who apparently said to the waitress. Don't worry it is a best before date you will be fine. This is not the case and was the use by date. The lid also stated do not exceed this date. Also the cheese was from the CO.OP. Not what I was expecting from a high class restaurant that charges high prices. The manager had addressed the problem and dealt with it well. The main roast was ok but not outstanding especially for the price. Hopefully no ill effects. Sadly put off from returning.More

We don't have a specific gluten free menu but as we make pretty much everything in house, most menu choices can be adapted.
