Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Location: Right in the middle of a tiny village called Merexo. The adventure & fun starts just finding this place. One must be open to experience this place. As described by reviewers, one would not recognize nor convince from the outside nor the interior that great seafood are cooked here. We were there when there is still daylight, so that helps. From Muxía, it takes about 11mins. Please refer to our map. Candid interaction: The Chef came our from her kitchen and directed us to the dining room. Her demeanour reminded me of English comedy. Be forewarned, there is no Menu. Chef: "What would you like?" Us: "What is nice here?" Chef:"Everything" Us: "We would then try a bit of everything." Chef: "OK. I will serve you clams, razor clams, prawns and crabs. We were then looking forward to our surprise. Indeed she surprised us with the followings: - Steamed/boiled crab with the shells so well pre-cracked. The easiest whole crab that I have ever eaten. The crab is meaty and succulent. - Clams with special sauce with a tinge of wine. We simply finish this sauce too. - Grilled razor clams and prawns. Also laced with her own special caramelised sauce. She then came out to ask if that's enough. Initially we thought that's enough but after a few minutes, I changed my mind. By then they have already started their own family dinner. She still obliged and grilled sardines for us. Isn't this great service? - Grilled sardines - Dessert We did not take pictures of the food. Do not expect fancy looking food presentation. We were simply too excited each time a dish arrived and went straight for the yummy and fresh seafood. Most importantly for the Adventurous, one must be there to try it. Don't worry, it will not hurt your pocket at all. At least not for our meal. Simply a memorable experience!

Casa Carmela stands as one of the best places to have home food in Galicia. Once your reach the place (which is not easy), you enter in a small room, not so much fancy. As a recommendation it is better to call ahead and tell the owner what sea-food you want and the fish you like. She will prepare for you in a full home-made way. Try the albariño of the house and if you like it the liquors (also home made and fantastic) with the dessert. Enjoy, I do it anytime I can.

It's the off-season in Merexo, Spain but the owner of Casa Carmela opened the restaurant just for us. She asked us what we wanted to eat and prepared that for us. The food was decent. I had the beef steak which was well flattened and then fried in a pan. My husband had a mix of seafoods which looked quite good. All in all it was a decent meal.

Incredible! Seafood was so fresh and delicious that is hard to believe. Don't ask for something special. Just call the day before and say what you like to eat (seafood). The will get the order for you cooked to perfection. Percebes are outstanding and the house wine (Albariño) unsurpassable. Just be sure you have a map or a good navigator. It is hard to find but the effort is worthy.

Everything was delicious and the treatment was exceptional. If you want top-notch seafood and homemade stews, this is the best place to eat them. And I won't tell you anything about Carmela and Antonio, a super loving couple, the owners.

Peculiar place, small town, without parking, that is filled with good fame, in fact we have gone many times in the summers, and so have several friends, if it goes well, the rice with lobster is impressive, but....yes He gets confused with the schedule, which is how "Carmela" recognized it. There he puts the dough-type rice on your table to put brick and he doesn't blush, since he only prepares the orders, he no longer has any more fish to rectify and make another one, and of course We paid for the confusion, eating the dry rice, which seemed to have been made the day before, and without having any details when it came to paying, so €87 we paid for three, eating 2 desserts and a Changurro that was also dry. We dropped a myth...we should not make others pay for our mistakes. I'm sorry they have lost some clients, I know, they have many, but they are not details that regular summer clients who travel many kilometers to eat there should have.
