Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sjoormen Kro in the beautiful village Seljord is a really nice place to stop if you drive past the village on your way. They serve "normal" food, and the food is really good as well. Contrary to 95% of Norwegian restaurants of this kind, all they serve is made in the kitchen there, and that is clearly obvious when you eat it.
Here you can buy traditional, Norwegian food - nit "fancy", French dishes. Which is great.
The service is really good, the staff friendly, and it's spotlessly clean. Both in the restaurant and the toilets.
This is a place I can recommend - and the prices are great as well.

After a hot and warm day with summer activities, we needed a casual place to eat. This is a typical Norwegian road side diner and was our pick for the day.
The interior is roomy and you don't feel cramped in here. The menu has all the regular items and is well presented.
Since one of us required gluten free meals, we liked how all the items on the menu were clearly marked. They even confirmed that fries were fried separately, and details like this are music to our ears.

Food is really good an reasonably priced, however the drinks were extremely expensive 49kr for bottled drinks (Coke, Sprite etc) Food portions could be a bit larger.

The food here is not much to brag about anymore. Come with meat. The komla was dry, the meat was probably the same as what is used as a roast. The piece of sausage was so small that they probably get enough for 5-6 portions per sausage. There was a large potato with it, but it had a tough skin around it so it must have been lying around for quite a while. In addition, there was of course dessert and coffee. The panna cotta was absolutely not good, cannot be recommended even once. The coffee was at least as old as the potato. They had a soft ice machine. It probably takes a lot to ruin soft ice cream, so it can certainly be bought. You get all this for the tidy sum of NOK 258. There were very few dinners that cost less than NOK 198. The staff struggled to understand, and no one could answer whether there was actually panna cotta in the glass of dessert.
Shell is right next door. Buy a sausage or burger and it probably tastes better and is significantly cheaper than the so-called sea snake kro's delicious food... They also have good coffee. And soft ice cream for dessert...

Overpriced and really bad! I can say with the hand on my heart that I have never eaten more tasteless food than what I was served here, red spots that were roasted completely in pieces, with some salad and dried potatoes. Not a gram of spices was used to get some taste in this dish. The chef (and he can call it) must have zero professional pride. In addition to poor food, the staff are rude and poorly serviced. We were asked to move to another table, and when we informed that the other tables were dirty (silos and food remains spilled outwardly) she just looked at us and continued with her. Looks like the whole gang is dirty about being at work there. Next time it'll be sausage at Shell instead - it's a more culinary experience than Seaworm's kro. Had it not been for the location, it would never have had the right of life.

This is a casual place to eat a nice meal. There really are not that many casual places to stop and eat from Odda to Kongsberg, so we were happy to find this place. I recommend what they call «Dagens Meny». We had the meat cakes with potatoes, gravy and split peas. It came with coffee/tea and a choice of dessert. Very generous portions. Reasonable prices. There is outdoor and indoor seating. Friendly staff. Lots to choose from on the meny. I will stop here again the next time We are driving through to Eastern Norway. Seljord is a pretty place and has a lot of camping!

Recommend to rather go to jafs on the other side of the road. The price does not in any way reflect the quality. Here the potatoes and salad were hot. The red spot was like a rubber sole and completely without taste. The hamburger we ordered tasted fish?

One of the few self-service restaurants on E134. Just had cake slice which was bit stale. You can eat outside on nice day.

Located on the highway, this was the only good restaurant we could find on the road from Odda towards Kongsberg with ease. It was clearly built to cater to travelers. It was a self-service restaurant with large seating area and a vegetarian nuggets option on the menu (other than the usual). The nuggets looked and tasted quite like chicken nuggets confusing us! Would suggest you avoid them but then vegetarians are left with no choice here besides the fries. Tea Coffee was nice and unlimited, great for weary travelers. Sides and portions for the other dishes were huge so it was quite filling.

For people passing by, this is by far the better option of roadside cafés in Seljord. The food is plenty (large plates), and the price ok. There is also a good selection of dishes, with a children´s menu and a roomy restaurant that feels welcoming.
It seems they were a bit understaffed at our visit, since the tables were not cleaned up after the guests for a while.

Selford was our last stop on our road trip and we stopped here for a quick early dinner. Place was quiet and clean. A selection of local fare is available but unfortunately an English menu wasn't available.

Seljord is beautiful and deserves time, but if you're just stopping for a quick bite, this cafe is fine. It's clean, neutral, convenient, easy for smokers, and the food is quite decent. We had roast beef sandwiches - a perfect combination of roast beef, pickle, raw onion ...

This place is about halfway from me to my destination. So it is a convenient place to stop for food and relax. The food is average at best, it is to expensive in my mind. But the location is great, so "everybody" stop here.

Driving from the West Coast of Norway towards Oslo on E134, there is a nice village called Seljord. You're actually driving at the outskirts of the village (it's worth while driving into the center and also visit the nice old church) and there is Sjøormen Kro. It's a convenient place to stop and have a bite. It's a cafeteria style where you order at the desk. At times it can be crowded, however the food is delivered quite fast anyway. The menu consists of several Typical Norwegian courses, like sprout, meatballs and fried ham. The food is good, but not superb and a little on the expensive side (relatively, comparing with Norwegian prices). Nice place, and of the better inns you find along the E134.

Recognized as a fine tourist spot, next to the Seljord lake.
However, the food is just decent - you'll get better hamburgers on the opposite tavern, as well as on the gas station next by. The main meals are also average, very little meat portions, but lots of vegetables. I remember one time they couldn't serve me ice cream, because they didn't have a spoon available.. Prices are pretty expensive in contrast to what you'll get..
