Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the best old country pubs in the area. We enjoyed a birthday celebration for my 70th. (8 of us) Great service by attentive, friendly staff enabled us to enjoy a special occasion. The food was amazing. Open on a Monday which was great...as so many pubs are closed. The history of the place just oozes a special atmosphere. Can highly recommended.More

Quintessential British country pub--beautiful 17th century building with low wooden beamed ceilings, open fireplaces in all the rooms. Warm, snug, and super cozy. We had dinner here on a Monday night. It was quiet and perfect. The food was fresh, simple, and delicious, the staff...were warm and welcoming. New favorite!More

What a fantastic time our family had last night. A warm and welcoming greeting as you enter with lots of happy people. What great service whilst we had the best Christmas Dinner. Now I've got to try really hard to achieve that for Christmas day,...which I won't!! Well done all at the Sun Pub, you have become a really great place to visit.More

This is fast becoming a gastro destination. Not only does it have a great pub feel like a Richard Curtis movie, but also amazing food. So go for a pint, go for the food, it is all top notch with great service.

Every time I visit this lovely pub it just gets better and better, and the fact that it was full to bursting on a Monday night shows that the news is travelling! Exceptional dinner with an old group of friends. Delicious Palmers Ale served at...exactly the right temperature. Selection of butters for the bread basket is a really clever and delicious idea. Great parfait, and Sole that was quite simply perfect. Pistachio Crème Brûlée was also top notch. Even the cheese board is first class!More

When myself and some friends set out from South West Wales for the weekend we had already decieded that at one point we would seek out a quintessential traditional English village pub for sunday lunch. and we found exactly that in this beautful, cosy hidden...gem down a coutry lane with its gorgous homely interior, the large fire place and the exposed beams and welcoming staff. The Butternut squash roast which as long as without the yorkshire was not ordered with is a vegan option and did not dissappoint. They also have a great selection of wines also with a good amount of vegan choices. We stopped there prior to starting out on our journey back to West Wales it is some 28 miles away from the M4 but I'd certainly say it will be woth the detour should If and when I pass that way again.More

We met up with friends for lunch and had super service and delicious food. We loved the log fire and received excellent service from Patrick and Adina and we had a good chat with David, the chef, before our friends arrived. As David is Hungarian...he naturally recommended the goulash and said although it was vegetarian it was similar to the meat version. Two of our party chose this, may wife had the lamb cheek and our other friend had the fish and chips. Our friend and I found the goulash not spicy enough but the bread with it was delicious. My wife thought the lamb cheek was probably the best option on the menu and the fish and chips looked good too. My wife and I were disappointed with the desert which was like a cheese cake served in a beer glass. We all had lots of drinks and it was a pleasure to have the 10% added to the bill as Patrick gave us such attentive service and kept the log fire glowing all the time. The bill came to £70 per couple with the service charge which we all thought was good value for money. I would have given an “excellent’ review but the desert was a disappointment. We will visit again.More

Appealing, atmospheric and charming pub. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, they have a great range of beers and food is very good. The goulash in particular was excellent. We had a lovely evening. Well worth a detour.

We visited on a Thursday evening and the place was cold and lacked atmosphere. The regulars seem to have disappeared, no drinkers at the bar which used to be the norm for this beautiful pub and part of the character. While the food was ok,...it was just ok which was not enough for the prices they are charging. The menu was very limited, even more so than the sample menu on their website. The staff however were lovely, especially Patrick and the service was good.More

What a delightful find! We were unable to get in to the Yew Tree and so needed an alternative, and found this wonderful little pub. Dog friendly, and the team here are fantastic - very friendly and accommodating, and made us feel like regulars from...the get go. We tucked in to a cosy table right by the fire, which was perfect for a cold day - the food was also very good - the steak pie was one of the best I have ever had. I'm almost loathe to sing this pub's praises in fear of word getting out how marvellous it is :)More

Stopped off by chance for lunch, staff very friendly and food was good, old looking place with character nice log fire . Sadly only found out the next day they had added 10% service charge to the bill and don't tell you , it is...written at the bottom of the bill but who reads all the text at the bottom . Sadly that's why you got 2 stars ,sneaky way to get more money and has outs off going there again.More

Went for dinner with my other half which is a special night as we don’t get to go out very often. To say disappointing is an understatement! Trying to have a romantic dinner in a beautiful pub whilst they are trying to put the Christmas...decorations up around you and other customers. Some of the others that were just there to drink were asked to duck or step out of the way. The food was disappointing, my partners burger was cold and bland, my pie was dry and having seen the mash and veg reheated in the microwave was disappointing. We didn’t complain at the time as the only diners and atmosphere being a bit flat we just wanted to leave. Over priced for what it was.More
