Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good salad and a decent sandwich, but hot food was poor. Overcooked, dry and portions were very modest. Service was polite, friendly but kitchen a bit slow. Nice and clean. Good easy parking.

We've been going to the Rose now for a number of years, and it's still great. It's by far th ebest pub in Chadderton.

Just come back from yet another visit to The Rose of Lancaster. As it's our daughter's 13th birthday & only being a stones throw from home, here we are. Seven of us in total, table pre booked for 6pm,we arrived on time & as usual it was...fairly busy, between eaters & drinkers. We sat in the lower restaurant area, cosy they say. I had taken a quick look at the menu before setting off, they were still on the winter menu,i decided on the butter chicken, with rice & poppadoms(could do with 2?) A mixed order from, kids burger, small fish & chips, flat bread, lasagne, steak melt,3 other dishes??..with an icecream to finish. Downed with a round of drinks, staff were great as always, nothing is to much trouble. The Rose is always a firm favourite,so I'm sure we'll be back again soon.More

This is one of the worst meals I’ve ever eaten. I ordered chicken and it was unseasoned and dry, it was really disgusting. We spoke to a young girl and asked her a refund, she said she would get the manager, which was fine. The...manager then came over to use and told us not to be rude to his staff, we absolutely were not rude, the only rude person was him. We got a refund and left, I would never ever come back to this pub and it’s a shame because it’s a lovely location but the food was dog meat and the manager was extremely unpleasant.More

Booked a table admit didn't read the email confirmation. Was us and our friends got there early girls really nice and went to seat us. Then this rude male came over and said to my husband he can't come in as he had track pants...on. He thought he would be reasonable and say just so you know for next time etc he went on to say we had to leave. We had two young children 2 and 4 that had not eaten yet bear in mind was 6pm. The male then said to me he will not come back in unless he appolgies to my face. I told him that won't be happening and thanks for ruining our evening catching up with friends who we don't get to meet often due to work commitments etc. We left and went to smoke yard in oldham so thanks to male for this as we had a lovely evening and lovely meal else were who were happy to take our money and provide excellent hospitality to us. After speaking with a few people apparently the owner is rude and obnoxious and other people have experienced the same. I would also like to add that this a pub and was full of people in work atire from building sites etc. I would expect a dress code for the centre of Manchester or a nice restraunt but not a local pub. It appeared that it was his choice of your face fitted to go in. What people wear is not his choice every person can dress individually. How does he know of someone isn't wearing track pants becuase they have a injury underneath and a brace on etc. I would also like to add if he wishes people to dress smart maybe he needs to dress smart his self and upgrade his decor.More

After seeing all the good reviews and recommendation from a friend, myself, partner and 8 year old daughter booked a table to have a Sunday roast. When we got there we were told by two young ladies who first said we can sit at a...table that was reserved or at another table in the corner so we chose the corner table as we were about to sit down they sheepishly said that we can’t sit in the restaurant area as they have a no jogging bottoms and cap policy but we can sit in the bar. So we went to the bar side and it was busy with people watching the footy, so we went back in the restaurant and was greeted by seem to be the manager who was being defensive saying this has been their policy for a 10 years and how it was on the booking confirmation, the only thing I said was that I could see people wearing the same and he was like litsen let’s not argue I’m not racial profiling. I honestly wasn’t arguing or even prepared to, I was looking forward for a lovely Sunday evening out with my family I wasn’t going to let something like this spoilt it so we walked out. I didn’t think I would need a dress code to go have a Sunday roast in a pub, I wore joggers cos I’m a fat cow and wanted to be comfortable lol. If someone says they are not racial profiling without any accusations they must be, it’s like when someone says I’m not being funny but they are! Anyways, we went boat and horses and food and service was amazing so we were happy in the end.More

The quality of the food was decent pub level, no more no less. The portion sizes were good, the meal was served promptly, and the waitress was efficient and reasonably friendly. Downsides were that the room was initially very cold, as the heating seemed to...have only just been turned on; there was loud Christmas 'muzak' coming out of the numerous speakers dotted around the room (why? it just makes everyone shout so they can be heard above such a cacophony); and the chips were obviously oven chips, not really good enough for a £15 meal.More
