Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I took some business colleagues, and they were very impressed with the atmosphere, the food quality and the friendly nature of the staff and management, They are keen to revisit next time they are in the area.

We were here again, not my choice, but never mind. I don't usually do sunday dining out, places are usually far too busy, but on this occasion the pub wasn't to bad, football on in the tap room, many tables taken in the top & lower restaurant area,we had already booked....We placed our drinks order whilst taking a look at the menu & specials. Typical Lees brewery menu,few/same specials as last time & being Sunday only one roast, sure another would have been nice.?!!..(Turkey is easy enough). Food ordered,i went for the pie, chips & mushy peas, should be a veg option, rather have had that( peas or mushy peas) Rest had, seabass, flatbread, fish & chips, lasagne, kids sausage.. All ok,but starving by the time it eventually came out. Clean plates, kids icecreams to finish. The place is nice, food & bar ok,menu,a little all over the place. Sure we'll be here again...More

My son in law booked online to take me for an early dinner on Saturday evening. We turned up, accompanied by my ten year old grandson, only to be told "track suit bottoms" (which my son in law was wearing) were not allowed in the...restaurant. Nothing on the website says anything about this ridiculous ban, nor is there any notice posted in the pub. The track suit bottoms were smart ones and we were extremely annoyed. We were pointed to the Tap Room (which had no dress code whatsoever and looked like the 7th Circle of Hell). It's a pub! It's not The Ritz (far from it) and leisure wear is "going out" apparel in the 21st century. I couldn't even say this was a case of "fur coat and no knickers" - maybe a polyester jacket from Primark. They need to announce their no track suit bottoms on the website IN BIG LETTERS and they need to put notices on the entrance. They'll lose a lot of business if they adhere to this.More

When pubs that serve food are packed, it usually means one of two things. It’s either cheap or high quality. The Rose is the latter. Food and service were superb. For a place so busy, there was no delay is getting your food. I will...definitely be returning in the next week or so.More

I have frequently visited this pub over many years and still feel it's the best around. Anthony runs an excellent pub. I would rate it the best in the Chadderton area.

The food is very expensive. It really wasn’t worth paying the price for what was served. It is just a pub and I don’t think can quantify the prices charged. Will not be rushing back.More

Went last night for drinks and a meal. First of all, top class beer. Certainly deserving of its Good Beer Guide status. Four of us had a seat in the lounge, but had booked a table in the restaurant. The manager advised us, it was...rather hot due to the outside temperature and offered us the choice of staying where we were. We agreed and it proved to be a wise choice. We all chose different options from the menu and everyone was happy with their choices. Portions were generous and everything was well cooked. We shared some very decent wine, the white from Spain being rather a nice change. The Chilean Merlot was also good. The staff asked us if everything was ok and cleared the plates away quickly which is always a bonus. We enjoyed a final pint and all agreed it was a very pleasant experience in a well run pub with high standards. The overall price was reasonable for what we had and the experience we enjoyed.More

Staff were great, service was great and food was great. The young lady behind the bar (didn't catch her name) was a credit to the business.
