I wrote a fairly scathing review of this pub under its previous management, but having heard good things about its new owners I thought I’d give it another go, this time for a family Sunday lunch. The restaurant was almost full over the lunchtime we visited, so you will need to book to be sure of a table. Large groups and families all appeared to be enjoying the food in the redecorated restaurant, where the atmosphere was very pleasant. We had a range of starters and as it was Sunday we all chose the Roast Beef. The two course were £20, not at the cheaper end of the Sunday dinner offerings locally, but the excellent food clearly reflected the price. High quality dishes, a selection of offerings and good sized portions made it an enjoyable lunch. Although there was something wrong with the quality control in the kitchen as one was served without vegetables. Unlike some local hostelries there were a lot of staff serving and without exception they were exceptionally friendly and professional. Our issue of vegetables was quickly rectified. Overall this now looks like a well run restaurant, with good quality food. It would have got an “Excellent” rate from me if they had a slightly wider menu offering, not got the veg wrong, and they had brought extra gravy without asking (both the tables next to us asked too!).

I have visited this pub on several occasions, and food quality is good, and some of the dish combinations are imaginative, albeit slightly pricey for the neighbourhood. I visited the pub immediately after Christmas and was irritated to see that the air hand dryer in the gentlemen's toilet was not working, and had been replaced by a stack of paper towels on the window ledge. Of course as the evening wore on, the bin for used towels overflowed with the result that wet towels were dragged underfoot, and eventually appeared on the floor outside the toilet. The toilet was literally turned into a 'bog.' On my recent visit I noted the situation still hadn't changed The air hand dryer was not working. Was there a world shortage in air hand dryers I asked myself? Come on management of the Fox and Hounds, this air hand dryer should be fixed, or replaced with something compatible. It is not in keeping with the standard you are hoping to achieve. Proper hygiene in a food establishment is essential.

Found this pub for lunch on Google Maps after we'd been for a walk in the area and what a lucky pick! The staff were very friendly and there was a relaxed atmosphere, with perhaps 2 or 3 other tables seated. Their steak ciabatta was incredible!! The bread was delicious and the steak perfectly cooked and succulent. The chips appeared handmade too and it was a good portion size. Would definitely visit again if I happened to be in the area

My partner and I went for dinner here with two friends yesterday and we were all absolutely blown away! This was the first time we had been to the pub since it was taken over by new management and had a refurb last year. The pub itself has been beautifully transformed, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, and the service was faultless. The pub is also dog friendly so a great advantage for us. What made the Fox & Hounds really stand out for us was the quality of the food, it was absolutely spectacular! We all ordered different mains and desserts and each of us were so impressed. The presentation and taste made it one of the best meals that any of us have had in a long time. It is slightly more expensive than the usual pub grub but it is far superior and therefore extremely good value. It was a wonderful evening, the whole experience was extremely enjoyable. We cannot wait to return.

Had a really brilliant first visit to The Fox & Hound with my family for Sunday lunch. We were joined by friends, and I have two young children and two dogs so the potential for a lot to go wrong! We sat outside, thankfully some of the garden is covered so felt safe from summer showers. We were greeted warmly and looked after impeccably from start to finish. My children loved their scampi, fries & pies and it was the perfect size portion. All the adults were very impressed with their roasts, great quality ingredients, cooked perfectly, arrived in good time on hot plates, I couldn’t fault them. Thank you to all their team and we’ll definitely be back soon!

Took adavantage of the "eat out to help out" government incentive and left it late to book. The landlady Beccy was very helpful and got a table for us at short notice. The four of us had steaks and they were cooked to perfection so compliments to the chef. The service was attentive and friendly so thanks to the staff for a good night out at our local village pub.

We've heard some good things about the Fox and Hounds so we decided to try it for Sunday lunch. The pub is a pretty thatched building set in the older part of the village. Inside it was busy, which is a good sign. The layout is a little odd with some tables positioned facing the kitchen, alongside walkways, but we managed to avoid those. We selected our choices from the Sunday lunch menu and waited. After a while one of the staff told us we had to collect the dishes ourselves - it was a carvery. We joined the queue of diners and populated our plates from the selection of standard carvery fare: Yorkhires, baton carrots, cabbage, cauliflower cheese etc. It was a decent enough meal, but it could have been any of a dozen similar offerings nearby. At this price point table service should be the norm, or if you want to go with the carvery some more imaginative accompaniments would be welcome. That said, we'll go back and see how their a la carte menu shapes up.

Our family and friends (50 in number) held my mother's wake here this week. Although normally closed on a Monday, they willingly agreed to open for us and could not have been more sensitive, helpful and accommodating. The food, the presentation and service were second to none and without fail all who attended were full of praise for absolutely everything! We would have no hesitation in recommending the Fox and Hounds Inn to all and look forward to dining here in the future. Thank you so much to all concerned.

Tonight was the first night of a new menu. Excellent service from the friendly and knowledgeable Matilda - she advised us on what to have and suggested we share some salads with our mains which were delicious. We all enjoyed our food which came quickly and tasted good. Think that they are pitching it just right for a village pub and looking forward to returning with my family.

We had a wonderful 80th birthday celebration for 30 people at the Fox and Hounds. From the initial booking and planning the staff here have been extremely accommodating, helpful and friendly. The menu choices for this amount of people was amazing with a large variety of meals. The meals came out together and were all absolutely lovely and the puddings were wonderful as well. The atmosphere was relaxed & spacious and the room we were in was perfect for the amount of people as well as a table for a large birthday cake. A colouring book, pens and toys are available for children. This is one of the loveliest pubs I've been to and would highly recommend it for small or large gatherings. Thank you Fox and Hounds!

Visited 11 Nov. Ales were excellent and well presented.Food was exceptionally good.It was well presented and looked very much home cooked.Various meals ordered and every one exceeded our expectations.Portions were good.Deserts were again excellent and the bread and butter pudding was the best i have ever tasted ! Service was quick with excellent banter and professional.Pie of the day was lamb in honey ..which seems rather strange ,but funnily enough it works very well as the sweetness does not overpower the lamb. The pie was in a proper pastry case and not the usual mound of fluffiness. The lamb was packed in and very substantial and worth every penny !Well worth a visit !!

Came to celebrate our friends birthday in a group of 6. A really nice traditional pub with a cosy interior and lovely patio area outside. A really nice mixture of dishes on the menu to cater for all tastes from steak and ale pie to home made Sri Lanken curry. The food was all absolutely delicious with good size portions and at a reasonable price. The service was efficient and attentive but not over the top. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable evening and very good value for money. Will definitely be back very soon.

Something a bit different. The chef clearly knows how to construct a good menu. Ok it was only a sandwich. But, it was pastrami and emental with sourcrout and prickle cucumbers. All served on char grilled bun as an open sandwich. So filling I resorted to the a doggy bag for 1/2 the sandwich. Yes chips but excellent thin chips. So good. The Christimas men looks great. Innovative and good quality. So bookend that too. Nice beer and a pleasant ambiance even if if the beams are a bit 'rustic fake'. Highly recommended food

Visited the Fox and Hounds for an early Christmas party. This was a family booking of 25 and we all had a great evening. The Christmas menu gave a good choice of starter, mains and deserts, we had pre-ordered and the food came out correctly and in a timely fashion. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was excellent and plentiful. The Fox is a great village pub with very good ambience and thanks again to the staff.
