Booking process very easy, was greeted and welcomed on arrival with sanitising station at the door.
We were shown to our table, given menus and explained that these were new dishes and it was their first attempt since the lockdown. Got to say we would never have known. Our drinks order was taken and time then given to look at the menu.
There is a good choice available to suit most pallets. I chose the sirloin steak and my wife chose the crispy pork belly. Both dishes were presented well and in good time. My steak was cooked as requested and my wife’s pork belly was superb, both dishes were piping hot.
Congratulations to Dane (apologies if I have spelt the name wrong) and his team at The White Heart Inn.
We have already booked to return.
There was one suggestion that was well received regarding the creation of a one way system giving greater room for diners arriving and waiting to be seated. Thereby creating less traffic past the first two tables.
Thank you team, for a great meal and a welcoming environment.
See you again soon

I booked a last minute (week before) stay at the Cricklade Spa down the road from Ashton Keynes and wanted to find somewhere to watch the final 6 nations matches as the spa was not showing them. I called up the White Hart on the Friday and although they were unaware of the matches on Saturday they said they would make sure they would show all the games!
Before the Wales V Scotland game we decided to get a light lunch of broccoli and stilton soup (I believe ) and ham terrine with a great fresh salsa, both were really very good and Scotland beat Wales so double bonus!!! After freshening up at the spa we came back for the England game and dinners of pork belly and chicken supreme. The pork belly was fantastic with a very rich red wine sauce and the chicken was equally tasty although it was a touch on the dry side, so maybe could've had a little less cooking time. The staff were extremely friendly, chatty and accommodating and the prices were extremely reasonable for the quality and the service! The Covid regulations were in line with regulations with the NHS check in QR code and the staff all wore masks all of the time. Its a lovely pub full of character with great staff and an accomplished chef.

I like to meet my sister half way for both of us. She found this pub and from the minute we entered we were offered water and the menu. We had booked a table by the fire, but there was no fire. Apparently the coffee group, which preceded us had not wanted one! The staff immediately lit a fire for us! We were not rushed into ordering and when we did order the food came in reasonable time. My sister had slow cooked chilli con carne with rice. It was beautifully presented and delicious. I ordered the small portion of haddock and chips and it was well cooked, not soggy as in many pubs. The chips were served in a separate bowl as were the smashed peas and tartar sauce.
We chose not to have desert but had a coffee and a tea instead. Both are beautifully served: mint sweet each alongside.
I highly recommend this venue and we will certainly meet there in the future.

Ordered roast lamb Sunday dinner, the meat was very under cooked, unable to cut with
Cutlery provided, also could only
Eat outside edges as raw.. such a shame ! The staff all stood chatting behind the bar , not attentive in
The slightest, I even had to wait ages at the bar to get their attention to ask for mint sauce, food wasn’t hot and getting
Colder whilst waiting. Very tight on vegetables .. one small dish between four which really wasn’t enough ! The potatoes were terrible ! More like sautéed, sliced small and had three tiny
Bits which turned out ok
As full of fat … didn’t eat
The meal .. none

Get attention of staff
To
Make a complaint, when we saw other diners arriving
I
Wanted to warn them to save their

And go elsewhere. I will say the

A party of family and close friends went out for a birthday Sunday lunch. The waitresses were rude and unhelpful and the food was absolutely awful. Meat was raw with bones in it, Yorkshire puddings were burnt on the bottom, roast potatoes were cooked so much they were rock hard and if you managed to break them there was a tiny bit of soft potato oozing fat that tasted stale, the mushroom risotto was totally inedible that my friend struggled not to be sick with one taste of it. There was very little in the way of vegetables. Only one person out of five managed to eat their dinner and as she said “I’m a student and will eat anything”. We all tried to eat it thinking it was a birthday celebration only to all just stop and confess to each other how awful it all was. I have been here prior to lockdown and it was lovely, the meal and the people were great, which is why I chose it for my birthday dinner. I don’t know what’s happened but never again, I got to say it was the worst meal I have ever had.

Popped in for a drink with my mum and the food smelt so good we decided to stay for dinner. It was fully booked but the staff were very accommodating and found us a table in the bar area which we were very happy with. Beautiful steaks, very well cooked, big portions, delicious chips and mushrooms. We had the peppercorn sauce which was brilliant and a bottle of lovely wine all for £25 which we thought was great value for money! Great service and atmosphere in a nice and clean country pub. Congrats to the new owners and looking forward to many more lovely meals to come!

me and my family travelled down to stay at the de vere and found ourselves at the white hart pub for dinner on the weekend. As soon as we entered the building we were welcomed by a very pleasant waitress who was very engaging with my children aswell.
we were allowed to bring our dog into the pub however we were asked to stay in the front area which was understandable considering the situation.
we ordered the risotto and the haddock and chips which was absolutely spot on.
the children’s dinner came to roughly £5 each, you get plenty per portion.
our table was continuously checked on by our waitress and food was fabulous.
I recommend this restaurant to all!!!

We we’re looking forward to a nice family meal out we arrived at 7 pm for a table of 6 adults and one child .
Well it took nearly 2 hrs to deliver cold starters and in the end our main meals .
One main meal was totally missed out and I had to wait a further 15 mins and that was after we remained them it was missing.
when the Steak Pie arrived it was burnt to a crisp and the inside was as hot as nuclear reactor core .
The only positive to say was the restaurant is close to where we are staying.
In the end they took off the main course and the children menu .
£138 down the Pan

Oh my goodness what can I say! Never have we experienced such a terrible meal in all my days! Had to wait nearly an hour for our starters of pate and bread - no cooking required. We requested our meals come pretty quickly after our starters as we had a young child and a baby! These came fairly soon after but they forgot my husbands meal - steak and ale pie! They quickly did this after a 15 minutes wait but the pie was so hot he could eat it, it was so burnt he could hardly get his knife and fork in it; the bottom of the pie was black!
Despite all this the food was extremely over priced and the food was poor.
The only good thing was the really nice waitress with the dark hair and the long ponytail- she could not apologise enough and did her best for us.

We booked a table here for 13 people including 6 children and had lunch. Initially we were in the garden until it rained and we went inside. The menu was varied and we appreciated the flexible approach of the staff when we had to move inside. Food was tasty and the staff were great and also helped us to book a taxi.

I have eaten and drank here many times since discovering the pub back in May 2021.
The two young men that have taken this pub on have done an amazing job.
I am totally amazed by the couple negative reviews they have received below ! ! !
Must be the normal moaning ( trying to save a penny ) idiots, going to a country pub paying £16 for a Sunday lunch and demanding a Michelin star experience.
I have eating most dishes off the menu now and have enjoyed everything. the only thing I could pick up on is I am not a huge fan of chunky triple cooked chips but that is my person taste not a reflection of how the chips are cooked.
The pub is great for a quite meal for two or a family, but also great for just going out for a few beers. And if you are lucky enough to be in there later on in the evening a great crowd of locals are there and are very friendly and welcoming.
A great laugh, great music and great beer.
This pub is not to missed.

Came here based on the recommendations. We were booked in for one of the last sittings for Sunday lunch. Pork or beef the options. Those of us who had the beef all said the meat was very fatty. The Yorkshire puddings had been cooked a long time before we were served them as they were hard and dry. Same as the potatoes, pretty hard.
For the price you pay for the lunch I would expect a bit more veg too. Couple of carrots/parsnips and a bit of cabbage was all that was on the place.
The starters were really good and I’d highly recommend the black pudding scotch egg.
I would like to say I’d come back, maybe for the burger as it looked really good. However I know with minimal effort I could produce a tastier Sunday lunch.

Stopped at the White Hart Inn whilst on our first day of walking the Thames Path. Since we had had a full English breakfast in the morning we had sandwiches. Service was a bit slow but the Beef and Horseradish sandwich was first class.

Experienced excellent service in the restaurant. I was there for the Easter weekend, it was quite busy but a young lady called Florence made our visit worth it. She was brilliant and went beyond customer expectation. We had a minor issue with food allergies and our initial waitress was unsure until Florence intervened and resolved the issue in a professional manor.
Overall would return again to experience the venue and staff who handle themselves amazingly and make the entire experience enjoyable And stress free. We travelled from Newcastle and may return despite the distant, very scenic village with locations named Swindon and Cirencester local

We stopped off for a drink after walking some of the Thames Path. There was a table free in the beer garden but other tables were littered with empty glasses and it was soon clear what staff the pub had was rushed off its feet. We waited for 15 minutes to be served and then we had to chase someone down. Other tables around us had similar complaints. We were finally brought our drinks, one of them in a wine glass with someone else’s lipstick residue on it. We waited some more for our snacks to arrive. And some more for a replacement drink. Then we waited some more for our bill. The space inside and out is really nice and peoples’ meals looked tasty and were clearly being enjoyed. In this Corona-World where we all have to accept table service, please, management, do yourselves a favour and hire more people and train up the people you have to understand what table service means and how you can take more pride in your pub and the service you offer.
