We visited the politician twice. (it takes its name from a ship which sand during the war by the way). The menu (every week) is different on Wednesdays. On Wednesday there were some good meals to choose from and we had burgers. The waitress was...More

Stopped off o. Way back to Barra. Lovely friendly girl behind the bar who allowed us to get photo's with the original whisky bottles from the MV Politician. Looked very clean and we were sorry we didn't have time to stop and eat.

Week of wall to wall sunshine exploring these beautiful islands. Heading back to North Uist from Barra and stopped at this cracking little place for dinner. Best meal of the week! Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

We had a really delicious meal here - not the usual pub grub. A new chef doing interesting things. Service was very friendly too. And the conservatory has lovely views out to the beach and the sea.

On a windy day we needed lunch so followed the signs to the SS Politician - although a sign indicating that you go downhill after leaving the main road would be good. The conservatory was a really good spot to enjoy the view and sun....More

Think working mans club - which in part it is, as a focal point for the locals. Food was not great with bland Balmoral Chicken.Their Standard Burger was with a home-made patty but tasted a little odd. Not off, but odd. Pickles were so nuclear...More

Hi, if you're staying on Barra, you'd need to get the ferry across to Eriskay, then walk the mile to the Politician. Its signposted from the road, but its probably shorter walking a more direct route
