Not cheap but worth a treat.  This is a must and an experience whilst in the area.  I was one person so it was probably more pricey for me.  Like stepping back in time and a world away from the tourist circus outside!  Peaceful.  Choose...your tea.  Surprisingly all the 'cheap teas' were sold out!  The lady that served me suggested a few options (depends on your taste).  The one I went for was light and very relaxing!  I never normally drink tea but this was nice.  Enjoy the views and your tea.  A member of staff will show you how to make the tea and how long to wait after it has brewed.  They will make the first cup for you and then continue on as you please!  The tea didn't include any cookies or cakes.  There is a nice selection of sweet treats.  I opted for some cookies or biscuits which were very light and complimented the tea perfectly.  I suggest ordering something sweet.  You can take what you don't finish with you, including the tea leaves.  Having said this, I don't think it will be as easy to make at home!  Clean.  Complimentary WIFI.  There is a time limit, of I think 3 hours if I am not mistaken but this is more than enough time.  Most people like myself sat for 45 minutes to an hour.  I went around noon and it was already quite busy.  I am guessing it will be super busy later in the day.  There are different sections where you can sit.  I opted for outside.  If you sit down, as I understand you must have tea.  You cannot just have a sweet for example.  There is also some service fee which was not too pricey.  When you have finished just go to the counter to pay.  This was the first teahouse I saw whilst exploring so I went in.  I was also short on time.  Whilst it was lovely, there may be better options.  If you have more time, maybe look around a bit more.  Would recommend otherwise.More

One can hardly believe! Such a busy district, such a crowded street, such noisy surroundings and then, you open the door to this teahouse and time has stopped somewhere in the past. A very beautiful place with extremely friendly personnel. The ceremony of tea serving...has lost nothing of its aura.More

We stopped in to the tea house to escape the rain and try some tea - we were not disappointed. We got a full service experience that was educational and delicious! Don’t be scared by the prices - you get to take home the tea...you don’t drink and there will surely be some left over. They serve it in 30g sizes I think. The building is gorgeous and you can also sit outside if the weather is nice. The tea house has a wonderful view! It also has a nice gallery of art and tea sets downstairs that is worth a look. You can buy anything you like and they have a website as well.More

English + Korean review / 영어 + 한국어 리뷰 <English> Summary: I liked this teahouse! It is not bustling and is spacious and relaxing. The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly (speak English and Japanese); the teas are delicious (they have some desserts to go...with the tea); the space is beautifully decorated and has awesome views outside; there are nice postcards and tea goods for sale; there is a nice gallery downstairs; the experience at the teahouse was great overall. They accept card payments. I’m a solo traveller and this was my first visit to Jiufen Old Street. The main street was so busy, full of people everywhere, and I was glad to find some rest inside the teahouse. For solo travellers, the cost might be a little more expensive than what you might expect - NTD100 service fee along with the tea leaves that range from NTD600 to NTD1000 (from what I remember). Nonetheless, if you’re okay with spending roughly NTD1000 on tea and some sweets, I would definitely recommend visiting. If you happened to order too much tea to finish in one go, they’ll pack the left-over tea leaves for you in their own pretty zip lock bag. There are English- and Japanese-speaking staff, who are all super friendly and helpful. When I ordered the tea, one of the staff went over how to drink the tea, how long to brew, etc. There was a coal fire for water pot. I ordered one of the green-coloured oolong teas and it was delicious. The staff also offered a free sample cup of another type of tea - I forgot to ask what it was, but it was orange in colour, had strong aroma and was so good (think I should have bought it)! The staff lady also gave me an envelope that with the map of the old street and the brief history printed on it – it had a beautiful postcard inside it (they sell lots of pretty postcards in the teahouse – I bought two of them, think they were NTD30 each). You can take home any leftover tea leaves. More

Went here for tea which is not normally my thing, but was blow away by the service and tea - i loved every minute of it. Firstly the tea house is a nice old building with a small pond and an amazing view of the...hills and water - with a nice outdoor area. Staff explained the different teas well which helped with our decision. A staff member then brought our tea to the table and poured our first pot showing us how to pour and how long to leave the tea in the pot for each pour. Great attention to detail and the tea was amazing and did remain consistent flavored and strength with the instructions given. We also got some snacks to go with the tea. We had a hot kettle at the table and was able to sit for up to 3 hours which was plenty of time. we didn't finish the tea so they packed up the leftovers in a nice bag. A must tryMore

This is a much better tea house than the surrounding tea houses in Jiufen. In fact, it's a real tea house, offering different types and qualities of tea for customers. It's also quite educational, as your server will demonstrate how to properly brew tea. Good...tea, good snacks, good view, and nice decor and interior.More

Stepped in partly to escape the scorching heat, but walked out with two packets of Ci Lai tea, which I was told, is of a higher grade than the famed Alishan tea. It wasn’t cheap but the experience of sampling the tea before I decided...on my purchase made it worth my while.More

Are you paying for the view? Yes. Are you paying for the quality of the tea and the experience? Yes. My advice, don't complain so much! My wife and I spent a rainy evening here and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The server showed us how...to prepare the tea, etc and then left us be. The tea pot, sitting on charcoal, was kept full and hot, and the matcha cheese cake was a nice touch. Pricey? Yes, but so what. They do explain the prices before sitting down so some of those complainers must of known what to expect. Anyway, just do it and enjoy a couple of hours. You won't get this experience in Ames, Iowa or the outback.More

Serenity at its best! The views were excellent (in spite of the rainy and misty weather when we were there) and calming at the very least. The hostess performed the tea ceremony with explanations along the way. The Oolong tea - so nice and wonderful!...There were a lot of decors focusing on cats. Even the table number indicator which you have to bring up when paying at the cashier was a cat! Souvenirs like the table number indicator were available.More
