Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place serves what is probably the best snack you will have amongst the myriad of street food options in Jiufen. It's the last shop when you take the stairs up and the views overlooking the sea are worthwhile too. Tried the warm assorted taro...balls and would highly recommend this place to allMore

It’s a must-go local dessert place for every visitors since I was little! Less visitors recently but still many! But the flavour of this dessert (yam, taro and beans mixed sweet drink) was the same~ My family always ask me to bring this dessert uncooked...sweets / boxes back home. It seems a sort of must-do-thing in Jiufen to Taiwanese people haha. Anyway happy to visit here after many years :)More

The taste is nothing different from other taro balls I've tasted, but you go here not for the food, but for the "overlooking" place where you get to eat them. On the positive side, it's a nice place to rest after all the walking you'll...be doing at Juifen.More

The taro balls are as chewy and colorful as that of Grandma Lai's but i would give it a higher mark just because it is a bit sweeter and thicker and they placed more ice to the bowl. Other than that, both are good treats...and deserving to be tried.More

Was recommended by our guide. There are several “taro balls” shops in Jiufen old street. Was ok, nothing special: chewy, doughy balls with not much flavor either served in a hot sweet liquid or cold over ice shavings. Does not look as good as on...Insta photos 😀 One time expérience for me. At the back of the store you can see employees peeling sweet patates, other rolling the balls. The sitting area is really in the back, nice view but the dining area is kind of dirty and dumpy.More

The taste and texture is not that outstanding compare to some random stores found in Taipei or taichung. They are almost the same

These taro balls are nice but the serving is a little light on. Price is ok as serving is small. Eating area is a little uncomfortable and hot but you are not there for long. Head to the top of the road and sample the...amazing bubble tea. It's worth the climb.More

A Gan Yi is a famous sweet shop in Jiufen Old Street. They just sell Taro Balls. You can choose hot or cold, also can choose toppings. If you don’t know how to order, just say “everything mixed “. I ordered cold one. There were...hot taro balls on ice. It was not bad, but this shop was too crowded.More

As compared to Lai Ah Po taro balls at the main old street, this seems nicer and the portion is so much bigger. They come with really a big bowl of taro, peanuts, green and red beans. Great view to eat the dessert as you...can have the great sea view of you take the window seats. Personally I will still prefer Singapore version of the taro balls where you can feel more substance.More

These balls are made and mixed with wheat flours and off course no one tell you that. By the way, this is not gluten-free, I would not recommend to people who are gluten intolerance.

Good taro balls. Nice and chewy. Feel less guilty eating it as it requires a short hike upstairs. This is rewarded by great views while enjoying the dessert.
