New to the area, testing out several local restaurants. This was a very pleasant surprise, called in for the first time, for lunch. One smothered steak and trimmings and one pork chops and trimmings, plus two home made deserts. The food was first class, as was the setting in a spacious conservatory.

We came here for Sunday lunch and really enjoyed it. The pub was traditional and located in a pretty, small Suffolk village. The food was very good and good value. Would highly recommend the ginger sponge and the jam sponge. The staff were friendly.

An excellent rural pub with plenty of tradition but brilliant food and good beers! A nice beer garden if the weather is suitable as well!

We stayed at the Chequers on Friday night before the 'Suffolk Sunrise' cycle ride on Saturday in nearby Framlingham. We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food, however, the welcome and accommodation were lovely. The accommodation is at the back in the enormous well kept garden. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Debbie, the landlady did us... More

We thought we would treat ourselves to a Sunday lunch, as we were on holiday, and found this quaint old pub (the inhabitants were quaint and old, too!). We dined outside because, although it was a tad windy, the atmosphere inside was rather oppressive and cheerless. The food, when it came, was pretty average, with nothing special about it, but...
