Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Place for foreign business people and tourists. No one in the place spoke Japanese. Highlight : scallops weee amazing. People were friendly and owner was involved. Lowlight : overpriced. Dory was too dry. Tempura was average and beer was overpriced at 950 yen for bottled...beer ( my hotel charges 900 ) and this place is underneath train tracks so they can’t overcharge for atmosphere.More

The food is excellent and they took good care of us, making this a highlight of our trip to Tokyo. We came in a bit early but we were invited to sit down, they got us a couple beers and some edamame until the kitchen...staff arrived. Then the food... oh my the food. Sushi, tempura, grilled fish, sauteed fish... it was all outstanding. Thank you Andy and staff! Highly recommended!More

We ate downstairs. It is crowded, noisy and bar-like. Service was fast. Food was hot. All bar type food. Lots to choose from but nothing out of the ordinary.

My go to place when I am in Tokyo. Always a welcoming environment, a rather unassuming place from the outside, but the food in top quality and reasonably priced. Owner is an expat from the uk, so English and Japanese are both easy. Worth noting...it is cash both.More

Sixteen of us sat down for a prebooked but somewhat delayed meal. Excellent service, very attentive and excellent food. It is always a good sign if the restaurant is full of locals having a great time. Be prepared to discuss rugby if Andy is there.

At first glance, Andy's is an izakaya, an easy going bar in one of Tokyo's most popular district. A warm welcome, excellent service, good drinks and banter flaws all night. However, you'd miss out a lot if you did not try food here. It goes...beyond finger food. We visited as group of 13 and tried almost everything on the menu. It was outstanding experience so we came again later the month. It is one of my most favourite places on earth. Will definitely visit again every time I am in Tokyo.More

Great fresh seafood house in Ginza area of Tokyo. Loud and rowdy, the food is expertly prepared and served hot. Customers are about 1/2 local and 1/2 tourist, as the proprietor is English married to a Japanese lady. Andy handles the upstairs dining room and...his lovely wife the downstairs. Make reservations or you might be disappointed. If you forget, go early (5'ish) and beg Andy for admittance, and you might get lucky (as we did!).More

We loved our entire experience. The food, service, ambience - everything was terrific. We arrived about 4:30p without a reservation. Andy explained they were completely booked for the evening, but if we could be done in 2 hrs we could have a table. We gladly...sat down & asked him to bring us whatever he recommended. It was all wonderful. As he better understood our openness to trying new things, he suggested items not on the menu and they were all delicious. And, his staff - they are so helpful. Never before have we witnessed staff literally tripping over each other in their eagerness to promptly respond to a customer's raised hand. The restaurant is built under a bridge so the interior is unique, cozy, & warm. The staff can easily shift tables around to accommodate all sizes of parties, and the lighting is just right; bright enough to see, but not jarring. Andy's is now one of my favorite places, along with Lafitte's Blacksmith bar in New Orleans, Gringo's on St Thomas, & The House of Trembling Madness in York England.More

We had the mixed tempura, the batter was thick and chewy, not particularly tasty. I think one of the items was conch or the equivalent and it was so rubbery as to not be able to chew. We had the special Miso black cod, just...not very tasty, bland, and overcooked..On a positive note, our waitress was super nice and the environment was interesting. There were a lot of non-Japanese folks there and they seemed to be having a good time..Overall pretty disappointing from a food perspective, especially considering the rave TA reviews..We did meet Andy and he seemed like he would be fun to hang with.More

Great meal - Andy and staff were great. Sashimi, Tempura prawns and sauteed scallops were great. Cold Sapporo was great. But no credit cards accepted? Only cash. Seriously? Great food, good hosts, but make sure you have JPY on hand

As delectable as ever! I returned to Andy’s after eight years, and it was better than I even remember. Try the salmon, whole fish, and the sashimi platter. The Yamazaki 12 was a great plus. The vibe energetic. Andy always finds a way to provide...that personal attention to every table.More

As a resident of Tokyo for 23 years I have visited Andy’s many times. The food is amazing, and a plus is that Andy is there to meet and greet. The service is excellent and the especially the fish and the seafood is great. A...bit pricey but really really good. The atmosphere is fantastic. I usually take other foreigners here to get the feel for the izakaya without having to order in Japanese. All in all a great place! Usually need to book. Ganbare Shin Hi-no-moto!More
