Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a walk after-a-late-coffee find. A wandering 9 minute walk from Shinjuku station I ran into The Watering Hole brewpub. Just looked up and did a double take of the sign - not many brew pubs in the area of this caliber. I be...say that because they brew all their own, had 14 on tap and space on the menu for at least 8 more. Many different styles from lager, light ales to Belgians to a cider, sours, dark ales IPA, double IPA and even one triple. Also a decent bar food menu double bacon burger to gyoza to fish and chips. First beer - New Itanki IPA - wow. Awesome hazy double IPA with a full flavor citrus, but not overpowering, hit to the tastebuds. It became my favorite beer ever in a heartbeat. Dude. I came back the next night (I don’t do seconds on a beer tour let along a non-beer tour). Yes? I did have one that was more piney and was not to my tastes, but is was shadowed by the Itanki IPA awesomeness. I do wish I had more time to experience the rest of the menu, but my time in Japan grows short. Also decor, staff, atmosphere great.More

I was craving craft beer and looked this place up. Over 20 beers on tap from around the world and they change their menu often. Junya was my bartender and was extremely friendly and accommodating. I was also craving some conversation (as I had been...traveling alone) and met some fellow beer enthusiasts at the bar. Highly recommend.More

Great place with a great (and apparently varying) beer selection. This is an ideal place for people who want an introduction to the burgeoning Japanese microbrew scene. Friendly service!

We walked in and the people behind the bar looked us up and down and turned their noses up. We checked the menu and All beers are priced at 1400JPY a pint!!. Most places charge between 700-900, that was just ridiculous and way more expensive...than London. This place is really overpriced and has no atmosphere. This place is style over substance. we walked out as it was too overpriced at over 10gbp a pint. Don't bother, go somewhere cheaper.More

Come out if the Tap Stand, turn right, then left under the road and walk for about half a mile. Ridiculously expensive, but lovely staff and nice beer.

Beer is good, great selection. The staff clearly know beer. Food is yummy. Knocked a star, because expensive and when I came alone, they had me sit in the corner of the bar far away from everyone. Wha... the point of the bar is to...talk to people! That was disappointing.More

I went here last night to a couple beers before getting dinner with family. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers on tap. The place is a good size - cosy but with enough going on to feel lively at 5PM on...a Saturday. I asked for 'the hoppiest' beer they had and got an excellent double IPA made in the US. I then had a New England Hazy style IPA from the Oni Densetsu Brewery in Hokkaido and it was superb. If you enjoy craft beers you should enjoy your visit to the Watering Hole!More

Went there early March on a Sunday, in the afternoon. The place was packed with locals and expats and as there was a US East Coast tap takeover there were plenty of ipas on the menu. Great beer, friendly staff, cool craft beer bar

Really nice, cozy place with good beer selection and great service/staff. The owner is very nice and a true beer lover. I highly recommend a visit if you are looking for some good brew with good service (English speakers) and a nice mix of local...and international clientele.More

The name of the place says it all. It’s a small local pub that has beers from all over Japan and the world. If you’re in shibuya and need a minute to rest from all the walking, have a good pint here.

This is a small but warmly decorated little hole in the wall. I was in the mood for a western style pint of IPA, kinda like a Pernicious from Asheville, and I found it here. It only seats about 20 or so but there were...several empty seats on a recent Sunday night. This will be my go-to spot when in T-town.More

Found this place in a Craft Beer magazine in Kyoto and it was worth a visit. The beer was in good condition and the staff were attentive. They had a very large selection but not enough Japanese beer for my husband's liking, their prices were...also a little on the expensive side. My husband went for the flight which was four 100ml glasses for ¥1000. Definitely worth a visit for a Craft Beer fan.More

I am sure this place would be nice if the staff were more attentive and had the decency to apologize if they made a mistake. The problem is that they were not. I was hungry, and my order had been forgotten. Consequently, I had to...listen through chit chats about balcony plants, and a young mother with child and breaking news before I could get the attention to ask about my food. After 40 minutes, I paid for my bill, including what hadn't arrived, and left. The man who took my order was still bluffing it out with his colleagues as I was on my way out. He wasn't going to tell them what happened, was he?More
