Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Swung by this little gluten free stop after visiting Senso-ji. Purchased a chocolate chip chiffon cake as well as the green tea. Both were such a treat!

This is such a cute bakery and perfect for gluten-free travellers as all the chiffon cakes are made with rice flour. All the flavours I tried were delicious, but my favourites were green tea and lemon. This is a great place to pick up a...snack when exploring the temples in Asakusa.More

I love Japanese chiffon cake and try and pick some up whenever I see a nice-looking version. I actually prefer the ‘plain’ unflavoured ones as they are usually more delicate and understated in flavour. This one is definitely one of my favourites across Japan so...far! Unbelievably light and with more of an egg-y bounce than some others I’ve had, it is a dreamy little cake. This is just a tiny shopfront with nowhere to sit and eat it, so I recommend packing it for eating later.More

Just north of Senso-ji Temple is this little storefront with an exquisite gluten-free treat! They refer to it as "chiffon cake" - loaves of feather-light, rice-based tea breads, cut into thick slices. There are lots of flavors to choose from, such as plain, cocoa, Earl...Grey tea, green tea, caramel, coffee, and cranberry yogurt. There is nowhere to eat in the store, but the slices are very portable. We paid ¥1160 for four generous slices. Really hits the spot in a morning of sightseeing!More

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
