It is a chain and there are several restaurants in Nagoya; they propose few options with fried pork (tonkatsu) with their special miso sauce. The combo is great! I recommend the fillet and also the tonkatsu with worchester and miso sauce, both. big portions!
Was ushered directly to the 2nd floor upon arrival. There is an English menu which is very helpful. Ordered their signature dish pork w miso base source as well as curry tonkatsu. Both were v nice. Credit card is accepted here. N oh u can...put your bags underneath the chairs, nice little touch there.More
We were skeptical for any chain restaurants with lots of branches. But Yabaton proved to be of high quality and great atmosphere. We had the No.1 menu that they are known for and it was excellent. Definitely will be back again.
Misokatsu Yabaton is a small restaurant specialized in porc. We had the typical misokatsu and a porc filet. Both dishes tasted alright and the meat was ok (the misokatsu little greasy). A bit pricey but service quick and friendly. We were a party of two...on a Wednesday and had a table w/o any delay. English was no problem Credit card acceptedMore
It started with quite a long queue when we arrived slightly after 6 on a Sunday night. Though the queue was long, the wait was manageable with my 9 years old kid. Be ready to wait even after you enter the shop. However, your orders...will be taken while you queue so there's basically no waiting time once you're seated. The meal was very enjoyable and kids friendly. Set meals comes with miso soup and cabbage.More
I’m not really a katsu person but had to try this given the good reviews, and it sure didn’t disappoint. Enjoyed the entire meal. The staff couldn’t speak English so we used our very limited Japanese and she was very patient and friendly still.
There is Head restaurant " Yabaton famous for Miso Sauce Meat cutlet of Nagoya cuisine! I went and ordered "Waraji Tonkatsu; large as straw sandale, with Miso sauce on top half & Tonkatsu kechape sauce on bottom half at lunch time. It was delicious especially...meat fat was fruity! More
Simply delicious. Worth the short q for your table. Definitely will have it again before leaving Nagoya. Highly recommended.
I call it lunch but we actually had it at about 4pm. Fried pork with red miso sauce doesn’t sound like much but the taste grows on you as you bite into the second piece. There is a queue forming on the restaurant internal staircase...when we were here but business is quite brisk so we did not wait long. However when we are done, the queue extended to outside the restaurant. Miso Katsu is one of the food to try in Nagoya and this is a great place to have it.More
The famous red miso sauce on the fried pork cutlet may not look very appetizing to everyone. We tried it anyway because we considered it an experience. Actually, it's not as salty and strong as we expected. We loved it. The regular pork chop is...more fatty and tender. If you prefer the less fatty version, order the pork fillet, but it's not as tender. Definitely worth a try. There are many other branches too and they offer the same menu.More
It's the first Japanese food I had on my 1st day in Nagoya and the misokatsu was worth the time I spent queuing just to be seated inside the restaurant. The coating is soft yet crisp and the pork is perfectly tender and juicy. The...miso sauce is so delicious that makes the dish extra special. Value for money? Definitely yes...extra ordinary taste largely served in your tableMore
Finally go t to try the Miso Katsu! It was tasty due to the pork fat on some pieces! I had the half miso and half Worcester sauce. It was a good meal. I ate at the counter so it was entertaining to see the...three guys shoot out order after order of Katsu.More
Misokatsu was one of the 3 Nagoyan dishes I wanted to try but it took me awhile to find a restaurant that served it. In fact, I found it on my last night in the city. From Shirakawa Park, I crossed the street then headed...left. After a 30 minute walk or so, I finally found this quaint diner with no English sign. There's a drawing of a "happy pig" on the entrance ceiling. I peeped in and found Misokatsu Yabaton. Solo diners are seated on a bar at the ground floor, while group diners are readily taken upstairs on their tables. There was 2 guys queuing so i joined the line and waited for what seemed like 20 minutes. I placed my order and when it was my turn, a huge plate of Misokatsu was laid out before me. Misokatsu is a deep fried pork cutlet with red miso sauce on it, a fluffy bed of cabbage leaves under it, and usually served on a sizzling plate. Pork was tender and the red miso further gave it a rich savory taste. The serving was big, it was hard to finish it. At 1,300 yen, my night was satisfactorily satiated.More
