Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had the gobo and meat udon here — it was very tasty, so if I have a chance to return I will try the all-gobo version which appears to be a popular item with the other patrons.

Great find on a cold wet night. 30 seater 4 man operation a constant line for what seems to be a single dish speciality restaurant but that dish of soup noodles with beef topped with tempura of prawns and I think bamboo. No beer or...green tea just cold water. The price for that dish a very reasonable 950 yen and bowl big enough for two to shareMore

very delicious food, especially the tempura and cold udon, must try! may just order the top 1 & 2 popular from there (which will be shown), the restaurant is not difficult to find, just try to find the starbucks opposite of the hakata station, and...this restaurant is located below of starbucks (b2 floor)More

If you use Google maps to get here, go into the building it dumps you outside and get the lift/elevator to B2. You have to order and pay at the vending machine as you go in. If you need help, ask. I was told there...are two vegetarian options. I chose the cheaper. It turned out to be some root vegetable tempura with udon. Really good and a steal at ¥440.More

It was good food, and I was full at the end. But I didn't feel like it was awesome, the atmosphere was not the best with crates stacked in the dining room and the grimy kitchen in full view of the diners. Overall a positive...but not extraordinary experience.More

Whilst this place is a little bit difficult to find at the very end of ‘gourmet street’ one of the many subway shopping precincts in the area of Hakata station. Funnily enough we were asked ‘where you find us’ and the response was to show...them the TripAdvisor review page. Great food, fair price. Pretty authentic too, because there appeared to be only one non Japanese couple there..and that was us. With a bit of pointing, and assistance, we worked out which buttons to push, and we were swiftly sat down and fed. Very good, fast and tasty food.More

This udon place was recommended by our hotel concierge. It is a must go if you are an udon lover. The specialty is the hot Udon with tempura burdock, prawns. Even their cold udon is beautiful. The winning point is the chewy textured udon and...tasty soup / dipping sauce that goes with it. Love love every bite. There are other branches but this is the most accessible as it is near Hakata Station. TIP: Come early as the line is very long at lunch with locals. Vending machine is only in Japanese but you can ask for help from one (only) staff that speaks English there that works in the Kitchen. Hope he is still there.More

This little restaurant isn't really that hard to find if you have looked at a map and walk thru the underground passageway from Hakata station toward Gion. It's on the left thru a pair of glass doors leading to several other Japanese restaurants of various...stripes. We too were a bit baffled by the ordering system which is based on a series of drawings outside the restaurant. If you don't read Japanese you're toast, but the proprietor, a young man who speaks some English as well as French and bits of other languages quickly came to our aid. He suggested having cold udon with vegetable tempura as well udon in beef stock with their signature fried burdock. That was sound advice and we enjoyed both the udon and its preparation which we could observe from the counter. The food is good, the prices are in the $5 to $8 range, and the vibe is entertaining--sort of reminiscent of Cheers in its heyday. You won't go wrong eating like a local.More

I wanted to go to this restaurant for lunch, but the waiting line was too long and just gave it up. Finally I discovered that it is not so much crowded for dinner time and had a chance to eat its legendary noodle. You first...buy the ticket (inexpensive! in general between $5 and $10), hand it over and wait. They make your noodle soup after you place the order, so you have to wait more than 10 minutes; it is unusual in Japan. To my surprise, Kakiage fritter is huge. I understood why this restaurant is so popular.More

Hard to find but worth the getting lost underneath the station for this place. No English menu - you have to pick from the pictures outside - and then purchase tickets from the vending machine!! But food is great quality and staff are super friendly....Lots of great vegetarian options too - in fact the restaurants 'special' is vegetarian tempura and it was yummy!More

A very busy udon noodle shop in the basement of a building across from Hakata Station. Most of regular customers eat their crispy gobo-ten tempura noodle either in cold or hot. Very delicious.
