This is what Greece and its islands is all about. You will not get a better welcome than with Poppy and family. Real down to earth people who cannot do enough for you.We did not eat here as we were all inclusive at the Mirobello close by, but many people who were eating seemed to love the food. Even had... Visited Diogenis Taverna while staying at Mirabello Hotel and Village.Family run business which gives a truly Cretan welcome. Christina and Poppy quickly make you feel like part of their extended family. Well worth a visit and a change from the hotel.

Very friendly, family run taverna. We have stayed at St Nicolas Bay hotel for two years but it is always nice to eat out locally. My husband often had his first beer of the day here and we ate here three times each visit. Food freshly prepared and nicely presented. Very reasonably priced. Recommended.

Out favourite restaurant in and around Agios Nikolaos is Diogenes Taverna (it's on the outskirts of Ag Nik near the Mirabello Hotel to be precise). It's small, family run and delightfully set up around a fountain with greek music playing in the background. Christina is ALWAYS laughing and entertaining everyone, son Markos is always serving up some great Greek food... More

What a lovely family run this taverna. We were treated like friends the minute we entered the door. We didn't eat here as we were AI at the hotel nearby but the food looked very good. We visited every night as the wifi was excellent here but we would have visited the taverna anyway as they were such nice people!!... More

We were staying local to this taverna so made a few visits. We got to know Bobbie and her family quite well over the holiday and they were always happy to greet you with a big smile and a big hug and kiss when we left. As the situation in Greece is tough at the moment my hubby wanted a... More

Although this was very close to our holiday accommodation, we had put off a visit to this taverna; while not all bad, the TA reviews had given a certain impression. We decided to go on our penultimate night as we couldn’t be bothered making the trek into Agios. It was pleasant enough restaurant in which to sit, with a large... More

We originally came here for lunch as it was only a 5 minute walk from our hotel (Mirabello) both had pizzas which were lovely. The woman running it was very friendly so on departure I asked how long they'd be open that evening, to which I got the reply 'no close before 12' We arrived back at the bar for... More
