Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

So good!! As a vegetarian I was so relieved to see a pub menu that didn’t do the typical veggie options (burger, pizza, pasta etc.) and I couldn’t choose! I had the stuffed peppers and they were so filling and tasty. Pear pavlova for dessert...with plant based cream as well and it was AMAZING! Staff were nice and friendly and had a very warm and cosy atmosphere Can’t wait to come back and try the other options!!!More

Great food and the Otter Amber was perfect. The restaurant area is well laid out and has a rural olde worlde vibe. The atmosphere was good. Attentive staff with nice sense of humour. Recommended!

I took my partner for his birthday , have always driven past and car park always full so thought we would try. On arrival we were kindly greeted and the waiting staff were very attentive and friendly . We both opted for the Pan fried...seabass ,dauphinose potatoes, mushrooms, baby onions in a tarragon sauce with vegetables. It was amazing and the flavours were superb. There was plenty to eat including the fish fillets . We certainly will be returning and can't wait to try something else. We were looking at all the other meals coming out and they to looked amazing . Well done .I wish I'd have taken a photo as it was presented beautifully .More

Staying locally at Holmsley Campsite 🏕️ and decided to try The Three Tuns for Sunday Lunch. Booked online which was easy and guaranteed us a table. Lovely quaint thatched cottage/pub. Nice decor, very clean, with lovely atmosphere! Staff, excellent, happy, attentive! Sunday lunch - we...both opted for roast pork, comes with an apple/mustard gravy, pork stuffing, cracking, roast and mashed potatoes. Roasts were a little hard around the edges (maybe kept warm too long post cooking). Was disappointed when a very small dish of accompanying veg arrived - I asked is this for one? Was told no - it’s for two! Cauli cheese, braised red cabbage, carrots and mange tout. Lovely! Then got vegetable envy when table next to us had their veg arrive and realised we had be denied an adult portion! Did have a laugh with the lovely waitress who did apologise and offer us more veg but we had already cleared our plates! Can fully recommend both puddings we enjoyed - the ice cream is BEAUTIFUL, locally produced in the New Forest! I enjoyed a lovely syrup sponge with home made custard. Was delicious! Would we return - yes please!More

Came back to this pub because we had a great meal last time Just ordered 2 cheese and pickle sandwiches. How can you get them to taste so bad? Neither my wife nor I could eat the sandwiches which cost us £20 with a portion...of chips. The bread was extremely thick, not fresh. They used a cheap margarine on the bread. And filled the sandwich up with grated cheese All in all it was a very poor sandwich. I won’t be backMore

Having read about this place we decided to visit. Our expectations were exceeded straight away. The quant extended thatched cottage ticks the boxes for appeal then there’s the extensive rear garden and further events fields. Steve the governor was welcoming and has a sense of...humour, we knew we would like it there. Then comes the food, I was stunned to silence tasting my scallops in Pernod butter sauce. This was followed by “catch of the day” 🐟, perfectly cooked and sublime. We don’t usually eat three courses but the wonderfully friendly serving staff suggested the cheese board, this turned out to be a fine choice 🧀. Overall we were so happy that we changed our onward travel plans to return to the same venue again the following night, that’s a first in 40 years!More

Another 4 fantastic meals for our party at The Three Tuns. We are never disappointed. The staff are amazing too, so friendly and efficient. So many delicious choices on the menu but I keep having the slow roast belly pork. I can’t help myself; it’s...awesome! Thank you, we will be back!More

Have not been to this pub for ages as the last few times it was not what w head expected. Thought as it’s so close would give it a try the other lunchtime. All very last minute and we hadn’t booked but that was not...a problem. Shown to a nice quite table near the garden even though the pub was very busy. Drinks orders taken and we were given plenty of time to make our meal choice. I ordered the small vegetable curry which was excellent and plenty for a lunchtime meal. It was listed as mild and so I was expecting quite a bland tasteless sauce, thankfully how wrong was I it was just perfect, the rice fluffy and accompanying chutney good. My husband had the cod, he’s a great fish lover and a bit of a keen cook as well, he said the fish we cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth so fresh. We were given plenty of time to decide if we wanted a desert but didn’t feel we had been ignored as there was plenty of eye contact from the staff. If we had wanted to be served quicker we could have been. All in all a lovely relaxed lunch and will certainly go back again. Also nice to see the pub was busy on a weekday lunchtime and had sufficient staff to handle.More

I stayed overnight in my motorhome in the field behind the car park and went in with a friend for an excellent dinner. The sea food pasta was really very good. This is a busy pub with a great atmosphere and good food

Used this pub before and it was good. Had a meal Saturday lunchtime. Absolutely appalling. Seafood pasta had very little seafood. Sauce like yellow wallpaper paste and that was a special at £22 Veggie curry bland and tasteless. Extortionate wine prices. Only plus for me...was the Otter ale was good. Was informed they had a new chef. I think all of the chefs attention was on the wedding venue running at the time. Would not recommend anymore as the value for money is too poor. Most people don't complain and let it go. That's why places get away with it.More
