we were in need of refreshment after our long walk over the hills to Lulworth Cove and from the headland I spotted the gardens of Lulworth Lodge and made a beeline in that direction. Warmly greeted by the friendly and super helpful staff, hands sanitized and checked in we were given menus, cutlery and directed to the garden to pick a table in the October sunshine. I was happy to see cocktails on the menu and being on holiday thought it would be rude not to sample some and we were soon served and perusing the menu. I must say we should have looked at the portion sizes as we both ordered the fish finger sandwiches, my husband had haloumi fries to accompany and I the Greek salad as we were pretty hungry but there certainly wasn't any room for dessert and we ended up waddling up the hill after! The fish finger sandwiches were exceptional and tasted amazing, the salad was presented perfectly and so fresh. The halloumi fries were by far the best we have ever had, the coating was to die for and the flavour was just so tasty. I could have just had a plate of them and been satisfied! The staff really compliment this place and they work so hard and always with a happy demeanor. When it started to drizzle, they quickly made room inside whilst keeping covid safe and accommodating everyone with ease. We 100% recommend Lulworth Lodge for a decent meal and was so taken by the place and it's staff that we have looked in to staying the night at a later date to sample their evening menu and stay in this beautiful place!

My wife and I had booked dinner here to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary whilst we were staying in Kimmeridge. When we arrived the social distancing was adequate apart from the position of the inside tables which definitely did not have 2m (or even 1m) distance between them. As a couple we were lucky to have a window seat which was apart. For dinner the menu was very disappointing although I do understand the pandemic must have had an impact. But I think there could have more choice than there was. My wife had mussels which she said was delicious and I had a rib eye steak which was okay. We did appreciate the free macaroons from the management. The cost of the two mains came to £37.90. We returned a couple days later when we were visiting Lulworth Cove and popped in for lunch. This time the lunch menu was much better and the outdoor space was well suited for social distancing although families were sitting right next to each other, shoulder to shoulder. my wife had a fish finger sandwich and I had a delicious crab sandwich washed down with a couple of beers and a soft drink. Total cost in this case was £37.95. The social distancing issue is a shame which is sad because it is clear that this restaurant has huge potential. We would probably return sometime in the future.

We visited here in July 2020 when the COVID-19 restrictions were in place. The restaurant is nicely set out with plenty of room between the tables. There is a good menu (many of the other places we have been to have a very small menu) with lots of choice. I had the crab, which was fantastic, but other people in our party had steak which was equally as good. The service was really good, the 2 ladies serving were really helpful and very friendly. We came here with 3 grandparents, ourselves and our 12 year old son, and all of our tastes were perfectly catered for.

We came for a cream tea and scones on Monday. We were one of the first in there and 30 minutes after taking our order we noticed many of the other tables with slower orders who also arrived after us receiving their food and drink, I asked the waitress if she knows how long it will be and she said she'll check and then avoided our table completely for the next 30mins. After an hour in total waiting for a simple order with no apologies for delays or updates that it was coming we gave up and left. The table next to us had the same problem, they ordered food and drink and only received the drink. When they asked about their order which had been an hour as their small children were very hungry the waitress was rude and responded it comes in order of arrival. No apologies or assurances it was on the way. Other people had arrived, ordered, eaten, paid and left in time both our tables were waiting! This restaurant was the one negative aspect of an otherwise wonderful trip, Rudds and Lulworth Inn on either side of this place have very friendly staff and made good food.

Having been looking forward to stopping off here for lunch on our last day of holiday as our last treat we have left feeling robbed and with a bad taste in our mouths. We were told we had to seat outside which was fine, given the menu and within a couple of minutes asked to order. We ordered a drink each, a crab sandwich and a steak sandwich, chips for each as this was not included for some reason (?!?) and a portion of halloumi fries. The drinks were the tiniest bottles (200 ml) and cost £2.90 each. Steak baguette was rubbish and chewy and crab sandwich was stale and nothing special given the price. We had ordered the truffle Parmesan chips which were supposed to be £4 but we got charged £4.50 each. The portion was really small and had a small amount of Parmesan and truffle oil poured over which just made the chips really greasy. Having felt really disappointed with the meal we decided we just wanted to leave and asked for the bill. 15 minutes after having flagged someone down for this I eventually gave up and went to the bar to try to pay. I told the waitress I had been waiting some time to pay but she didn’t seem to care. On top of all of this the place had poor hygiene- tables grimy and simply whipped with a wet cloth (no anti-bac). Overall the place was extremely overpriced and really not worth it. Wish I had just bought a sandwich from a service station instead.

While the food was excellent when my partner and I visited Lulworth Lodge for lunch on a warm summer's day, the post-lockdown social distancing arrangements put in place were not. Having been to three other bars/restaurants since lockdown was eased, all of which had excellent measures to allow for social distancing, I was most disappointed at the lack of effort put in by Lulworth Lodge to ensure the safety of all customers. None of the staff were wearing masks or visors, and they made no attempt to keep back when taking orders/bringing food and drinks to the table; the tables were all very closely packed together, meaning that everyone had no choice but to come into close proximity with each other, due to having to walk close by tables in order to get to the toilets or in and out the main entrance; despite government guidelines that bars and restaurants should not play music, the music in the bistro was of a volume such that we had to raise our voices above a natural volume, thus increasing the possibility of spit particles being expectorated into the air; the one attempt at making the place more Covid-safe was a hand sanitiser by the door, but this was empty! While I appreciate that this is a difficult time for catering and hospitality establishments, I just felt very disappointed that such a nice, welcoming place as Lulworth Lodge had not done more to accommodate for the 'new normal.' Other places I have been to have completely moved the furniture around in order for there to be at least 2 metres between all tables, put all cutlery in sealed bags so that none of the waiting staff have to touch them, ensured all staff are wearing visors at all times, taken all condiments and extraneous items off tables to prevent contamination, etc. There seemed no evidence that any such precautions had been taken here, which unfortunately detracted from what would otherwise have been a pleasant meal.

We stopped here for a cream tea and we’re not disappointed. The service was friendly and the food excellent. Very good value for money, large freshly baked scones, ample cream and jam, lovely large pot of tea and overall very well presented.

My wife and I Had a lovely three course meal at the Lulworth Lodge bistro. The decor is nice and fresh and the bistro has a good feel to it, it’s cosy and the fact there are only around 12 tablesettings means it’s still a good location for couples. We really enjoyed the food we had which included Dorset crab, crispy squid, the bistro burger and I had the steak all of which was nicely cooked. The vanilla Panna cotta was a great end to the meal. The lady that served our table was very friendly and approachable and took time to chat although clearly very busy. The only negative was that the drinks are pricey although it was a good selection.

Stopped here for lunch and the food was fantastic - we both had the halloumi sandwich with chilli jam which was delicious. Not cheap but also not horrendous prices given the popularity of the area. Go for an early lunch if it’s busy in the area - we got a table just as the lunch service was starting and within half an hour they were full.

We stayed at the sister hotel (Limestone) but popped in here for lunch. We had a nice table for two with space for our two Pulik. Great welcome and friendly staff. Selection of drinks fantastic and the Wild Beer is recommended. Beef pie was amazing, full of beef and thin crisp crust served with mash. Wifey had a sandwich that was also amazing. Wifey reports the cider was yummy. Dessert was very tasty and filling. Wifey needed help as the walnut and coffee cake was if dinosauric size!! Worth a visit for dinner. We loved it.

Stylish modern decor. Interesting menu. All our food for a party of six was tasty, well cooked and beautifully presented. Service was very friendly and efficient. They were very happy to tweak the menu to suit the two children in the party, It all made for a very happy family evening out (including Buddy the dog).

A lovely bistro with excellent food and service. It was a welcome retreat from crowds at lulworth cove. It is dog friendly and our dog really enjoyed the oat/peanut butter dog treats he was given. Very friendly.

Queued here at the weekend (the weather was spectacular) for about ten minutes before a table was ready. The staff were all super young but I was pleasantly surprised that the service was wonderful! I was even more surprised and excited to see TWO vegan options on the menu and one of them was a beyond burger (which I had). The best meal I had while away from home after days of salad and fruit (so dull). It was absolutely delicious thank you so much. I would LOVE to have seen a vegan dessert or cake on the menu though too. But apart from that it was definitely a 5 star lunch.

The staff are very nice indeed. The food is a bit hit and miss. The tartare sauce that came with my fish and chips was nothing of the sort. I did mention this to our waitress and she said she'd speak to the kitchen staff; that's the last I heard of that, no response. The restaurant area is divided by an elongated shelf unit that the staff hover around. It's right in the middle of the restaurant. It's weird! We were seated right next to it, so I'm sure the staff heard how weird we thought it was. I wouldn't go back. Strange atmosphere, weird layout, so-so food. Avoid
