Visited this pub for Sunday lunch. Overall the staff were very friendly and the food tasted ok. The prices set for meals was expensive for the portion/quality that we received and we were left feeling hungry after paying what felt like an extortionate amount. There...also was not much choice of food and no menu for children. I’m not sure that we would ever return here just because there are better pubs in the area that can provide good food for less the costMore

Visited with friends (party of 6) for first time on Saturday evening. Service and food were both excellent. Particularly impressed with female waitress who served us from start to finish, and also young man who brought drinks, cleared table etc. Portions were very generous and...as we had left some on the plate, he wanted to make sure that there was nothing wrong with food (there wasn't!). Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended. Minor comments - would have liked to have seen cheese & biscuits on dessert menu, and think pub could do with a bit of a freshen up.More

We met relatives for lunch as this pub is roughly equidistant from us both. We thought we'd sit on the really pleasant patio area, but it was a bit cold, so sat inside in the restaurant section as the bar was full. The staff were...attentive and could not have been nicer. The food was amazing for two reasons; it was all very nice and the chicken, leek and mushroom pie was homemade and delicious, and, for the present moment when prices seem to have hit ludicrous heights in the southeast, it was extraordinarily reasonable. The beer and coffee were both excellent - they really try to be good to their guests. What a treat to visit here, and we shall be back.More

Decided to eat here last minute. Glad we did. Food was amazing, real home cooked food. Chicken, leek and mushroom pie best I have ever eaten. Lovely, traditional English pub, pretty outside area too. Prices little pricy, but then it definitely is value for money....Staff very friendly, and just overall a fabulous pub to have a lovely meal in, or just a drink.More

Good food. Good drink. Good atmosphere. We remain impressed how the pub follows the covid rules so carefully but with a lightness of touch that always keeps things friendly and relaxed. Many of the staff have been here a long time - which in itself...says a lot - as have the loyal locals. Like many places, customer numbers have dwindled and a good pub like this deserves support. There is a good choice of beer, which is well kept, as well as nicely selected wines. The food ranges from a few fancy dishes, especially with the delicious starters, to old favourites such as pies and burgers. There is covered outdoor seating as well as a cosy interior. The welcome and service is always great. My advice: go and see for yourself!More

It was Burger night, some had Chicken Burgers, one Risotto, Vegetable Lasagne, I had Chicken Supreme, everything was delicious, hot and very well presented. Deserts were Biscotti Cheesecake, Apple Crumble and I had Orange Sorbet. The decor is traditional inside and quite a few people...were locals. There’s a nice outside area under cover but you need to book. I would highly recommend this pub, not many cook their own food and provide such a nice menu. Easy parking.More

The car park isn't huge but worth a try, the roads around the pub are always packed with parked cars however there is a park just down the road from the pub with a large car park you could use.

The Old Wheatsheaf has no accommodation, it does have an excellent restaurant and definitely worth a visit.
