Went to the apron stage for the first time under the new owners and was not disappointed. Ok the previous owners had a slick operation but the new owners were making a close attempt to replicate the previous standards and if tonight was anything to go by they will get there. It's still a great restaurant offering good value for... More

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are aware that we have very big shoes to follow but hope that people enjoy the local produce we are managing to provide and source. Hopefully our customers like yourselves will continue to enjoy the Apron Stage. Many thanks More

This was always a fabulous meal under Tony, Jane and Shona. It's good to see that it has been taken over, rather than closed, but first taste proved a bit inconclusive as to whether it will be as good as it was. On the upside, the interior is funadmentally unchanged, and the commitment to a simple "Modern Scottish (with a... More

Thank you very much for the review. We are certainly aware that we have big shoes to fill, and that clearly on our first weekend of opening we missed these standards. As we settle into our new surroundings we believe that through working with the local butcher and other local suppliers we will meet the expectations of The Apron Stage.... More

We had a fantastic meal at the Apron Stage. Three courses each plus wine was very reasonable - we could hardly walk afterwards - very generous portion sizes. Restaurant was lovely inside, and the staff were very friendly but not intrusive. Hubbie had his own gluten free menu - he was very chuffed. We'll definitely be going back - and... More

You won't forget going to the Apron Stage! First impressions - it's just like going into someone's from room, with a small open kitchen at the back! The food choice is very limited - just two main courses, but with a maximum 16 covers, that's fine, and we really enjoyed our halibut, and beef main courses, with good starters, and... More

What a delightful little place - a true delight. We managed to secure a table for two on Saturday night and had a few requests that Shona and Tony accommodated in this lively petite restaurant off the beaten track. Despite being so small, we didn't feel cramped and once sat down it was all so delightful. The starters (there was... More

Managed to get a table for x2 at very short notice last Saturday night. Dining room is very small, seating around 15-18 people, but set out in such a way that it doesn't feel too cramped. Very limited choice on the menu, but what is there is well worth ordering. Great starter (melon & Parma ham x2) as well as... More

A shining example of what a restaurant can achieve with the minimum of investment. It is certainly charming and self contained in quite a small space, but it makes for an intimate evening and is all the better for that. As expected, it has limited choice, but when booking you are asked for your allergies...likes and dislikes and the staff... More

It's a while since we last visited, and it's as good as ever. Still the same being greeted like a long time friend, the same friendly faces (although Jane has recently recovered from a serious illness and Tony was not on duty the evening we visited). The food was as good as ever, the rack of lamb was a bit... More

This restaurant is surprising and charming - tucked away in a row of fairly ugly buildings with it is like entering a small hub of excellence. A warm welcome. Service of the highest quality and a small menu of delicious seasonal food which is beautifully cooked and served with fairly priced good wine. What more could a diner wish for?... More
