Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wanted to try a new lunch venue on a bank holiday Easter Monday and this fitted the bill . Lovely charm and character and feel and was given excellent service throughout . We ordered a sandwich with home cooked chunky chips and a Cumberland sausage...and mash with onion gravy . On arrival ,which was in good time ,the sandwich was really fresh, the home cooked chunky chips were delicious The Cumberland sausages were 3 in total ,full.of flavour ,the mash was home made and with the fresh onions in gravy made it perfect, even put veg on the plate too . We will definitely be back here ,service ,food quality and overall experience was delightful Well done all at seven stars ,made our dayMore

Pub looks lovely outside and in, it was very cosy and looked like it would offer good simple home cooked food. Sad to say food was Very disappointing. First time I’ve ever completely left my food when out to eat. I Ordered steak pie and...chips, opened the pie to find one very small piece of steak in my pie and the rest was jelly gravy. Chips were clearly just frozen chips which were poor quality. No home cooking here. Staff were advised but there was No offer of changing food or any other compromise. Actually walked out feeling robbed! Would not recommend. 😔More

Took my mum out for Mother’s Day, the Seven Stars was recommended to us by friends and I’m so glad they did. The food was piping hot (always a good start), the portions were very generous and the staff were very attentive and lovely. My...mum had chicken strips to start which she loved and I had to get my favourite soup, broccoli and stilton. Both tasted amazing! We then both opted for the Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding. Again, this was very tasty. The roasties were crispy, the Yorkshire pudding was huge and it came with some of my favourite vegetables all done perfectly. You will see us again very soon!More

The Sunday roast was a plate of slop....beef looked out of a packet, three tiny bits of broccoli, two very very small roast potatoes, a massive dolop of carrot and swede, a blob of mash some parsnips and a Yorky pud that tasted of grease...all...this for 15.99....a pint of soda and lime 3 quid.... utter garbage..definitely the worst Sunday roast that I've ever laid eyes on,.save your money and go elsewhere....More

Me and my family went here to eat and we sat there for about half an hour we even had our seats changed because of flickering lights when we went to order they told us that the grills have been off for 15 minutes.

Lovely cosy country pub that serves a wide variety of meals, something to suit everyone. The owners are really welcoming & service is very efficient without being intrusive. Great friendly atmosphere, free parking & good value & generous portions . Well worth a visit .

The little village location is wonderful. The old worn decor not too offensive. The 1970 toilets bearable However. The very reason one goes to restaurants is to have great tasting reasonably priced food that is presented well and leaves a great impression and you want...to return. Unfortunately this venue fails on all counts which is a pity. Not an enjoyable meal. However I believe they do a great Sunday lunch. But so do other venues.More

Lovely old fashioned pub and staff very friendly but food doesn't taste like home cooked food or maybe reheated. Chips standard cheap and greasy. Desserts seemed bought in. I pay lower prices at local gastro pubs where everything is freshly made and cooked. Only 3...other tables occupied yet 'reserved' was on every table lol. Shame as it could be a little gold mine as in a beautiful area!More

Overly priced with the atmosphere of an Ankh Morpork river. £5 for a larger shandy, £7 for for a pint of coke and a pint of lemonade. Was going to eat but at these bar prices I wasn’t going to line the pockets of the...owners. Shan’t be returning.More

Second time we tried to visit this pub after a country walk. Depite website and google saying it is open from 12pm we have found it closed with no signs of life around 12. 30 on both occasions. I don't think we will bother trying...again. We didnt mind sharing our custom with the lovely ladies at the village coffee shop tucked around the corner in the Village Hall. Seems a very poor show and a great shame as it looks like it could be a lovley pub. I have read that other people have had similar experiences. If you can't be bothered opening at 12 then it would make more sense to advertise the times you wish to be open.More

Second time we tried to visit this pub with a group of friends. The website says it is open at 12 but on both occasions we arrived just after to find no signs of life around the place and car park cordoned off. Management need...to sort out either the advertising or get the place open when it is supposed to be. After two attempts for lunch we will NOT be trying again. Thankfully had excellent service from the Village Coffee Shop situated across the road.More

First time in a long time we've come back here as it wasn't great 7 years ago. So with a view to trying it again we had booked for a family birthday meal last week. On entering it was clear there had been little to...no improvement to the decor since we were last here - my seat had a well ground in large stain on the fabric. Our 'welcome' by the staff member was underwhelming - nothing warm and friendly. The glasses provided for our wine, well 2 of them needed running through the dishwasher again. The toilets and the gents specifically were like something from the 1960s and not particularly clean, made worse by the noticeable rust and peeling paint on the floor, from the radiator. As to the food and with no doubt in my mind whatsoever at £18.95 - this was THE worst fish pie i've ever had. I had 5 pieces of fish in this - all diminutive in size and no salmon whatsoever despite this dish being described on the menu as having such. The mash was truly awful, akin to something from a microwave packet. As for the 'buttered peas' - no sign of any butter on them, instead they were dry and tasteless. The whole presentation of the dish was like something from the 1980s. When you consider how beautiful Thornton Hough is as a village, it should really have a pub which properly reflects its surroundings and not somewhere that is less than average in terms of its food offering, decor, toilet facilities and hospitality. It could and should, be so so much better......More
