This is the best restaurant of many in which we ate at the Grand Canyon. The food was fantastic. I had a delicious hamburger and my wife had a Navaho Taco. My Berger was thick, juicy and tasty. My wife's taco was extremely good, much different from the usual tacos. They were selicious and recommended by the waiter. The atmosphere... More

Make your dinner reservations long in advance, this place gets booked up. Good variety of foods, including some vegetarian and fish options. Friendly attentive wait staff.

You must make reservations or you won't get in. The earlier the better. The menu is varied enough, even for vegetarians, to attract all. We had the special, sable fish on jasmine rice, and the lamb shank. Both were spectacular and the wine to accompany it was reasonable. It was a lovely way to end a great holiday!

I was a little worried about lunch based on the dates appearance and decor at the restaurant. I know it's supposed to be historic, but I was skeptical to say the least. However our waiter, James, was incredibly friendly and helpful. The soup and salad were excellent and the stroganoff and peanut butter pie certainly fine for the price. Overall... More

I love the El Tovar, there is so much history and personality in this building. The food as usual is excellent.

It's pricey and not worth it. The dining room is nicely done and very pretty. The cocktail lounge is really awful and super dated. All of it is pretty $$ for what you get. I had the french onion soup and the salmon tostada...it was pretty bland on both counts. Unfortunately, they have a captive audience so there isn't much... More

We came to El Tovar for lunch. The wait was about 25 minutes. No views of the canyon at least from our area in the restaurant. We ordered the Navajo Taco and chili. The Navajo taco was nothing special, bland--the fry bread was not crispy. The chili was better with large pieces of meat but it had too much cheese.... More

El Tovar dining has always been really good, but this visit was over the top. We go snowed in, so we had the opportunity - the good fortune - to just walk in without reservations and get window seats. We tried the chili, the quiche, the Navajo tacos- and, AND you would be foolish if you didn't try one or... More

First night's dinner: salad shared and delicious, trout - very tasty, halibut and rice- halibut over cooked, rice cold. They allowed replacement of halibut meal with trout...good! Dinner the second night: NY steak was tasty, filet mignon melt in your mouth, good salad, and delicious ice cream, but did not enjoy pomegranate creme brûlée. The regular creme brûlée would have... We had the halibut (frozen) and the fresh sea bass. Food was not hot and had to reheated. Overly sweet sorbet and lukewarm cappuccino. Nothing special especially befitting the gourmet prices. But when at the Grand Canyon it may not be possible to do any better
