We arrived on Holiday the day the campsites opened, a whole new different world to explore, awash in hand sanitiser. MS Queen Victoria anchored in the bay awaiting the day the giant Petri dish is allowed to cruise again. This is third meal out this week and by far the best, the Ship (Dunwich) and the Sailors Home both proved to be freezer to deep fry nightmares. To the task at hand: The steak Diane was exceptional as was the crispy duck starter (share it) unless you don’t want a main meal. The service was Covid correct but still managed hot food & plates, and good quality food, fresh vegetables. The Tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had. I advise booking in advance due to the new seating arrangements. If this had been my first meal after the ending of lockdown I would be rejoicing, alas I have learnt an expensive lesson twice to be ultra careful where you eat as prices have gone up and quality and service has gone to hell in handcart.

We stopped in to The Waterfront for a drink one afternoon and asked if we could book a table for an evening meal - but they were fully booked all week! We left our details in case there was a cancellation and were lucky enough to get a phone call a couple of days later. So glad we did because the food is absolutely delicious. We enjoyed calamari, whitebait, mussels, blackened salmon and pork. All of the dishes were perfectly cooked with obviously fresh ingredients. Polite friendly service made for a lovely evening. Get in if you can!!

We were staying at the White House beach Caravan & Motorhome site and the previous day had a long and tiring walk into Lowestoft and had a very disappointing meal experience there. Upon asking the taxi driver on our return for recommendations in Kessingland he said that he'd heard good reports about The Waterfront Restaurant. This is a small restaurant just a few steps from the campsite. It was our last day at the site and I called to see whether we could get a table for two during lunchtime or in the evening. Lunch was already fully booked and I was offered a table for dinner starting at 20:45. That was a late start for us but I gladly took up the offer. What a revelation! There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant and the tables are well spaced out. The Whitebait that we had to start was the best that we can ever recall having. Piping hot, plump and cooked to perfection on a bed of leaves. We both chose Steak Diane for the main course, cooked rare as requested, and it was excellent with two good slices of fillet steak each. One slice each would have sufficed but it was so good that we ate it all. To accompany it we had a very reasonably priced bottle of Merlot. I'm not usually one to have a sweet but to keep my wife company, chose a toffee pecan roulade and ice cream whilst she had a lemon meringue roulade with ice cream. They were both generous portions yet , as with the main course, nothing was left on either plate. Our meal was rounded off with coffees. The service was unobstrusive and despite our late start we never felt hurried. If we return to the campsite our first action on booking it will be to make reservations to dine again at this excellent restaurant. It really does thoroughly deserve to do very well. If we lived in the area we would be very regular customers.

Great for lunch. We met a friend whilst staying locally and he recommended the restaurant for lunch. We all had the fish and chip lunch and were served a delicious meal with a massive piece of fish and excellent accompaniments. The place was quiet but very well furnished and comfortable. The lady who served was very polite and attentive. It was a pleasure to have visited and we have no hesitation in recommending the restaurant. At lunch time it was only open 12 to 2 when we went in March. Worth booking.

I booked in advance for a family meal only to arrive and be greeted with two very rude waitresses, we wish we had of walked out at that point as unfortunately it only got worse. We were made to feel extremely uncomfortable while ordering and eating our food, which was average at best. You would get better customer service at a fast food restaurant! Food was reasonably priced but I don’t recommend visiting as we felt our custom was not wanted (maybe due to the fact we were tourists? We don’t know the reason but we all tried to be as polite as possible even while receiving constant intimidating looks from the waitresses). Wish we had read reviews beforehand as lots of others have said the same. Avoid this place at all costs, highly recommend the Sailors Home next door as the staff were all lovely and so welcoming!

Found the staff very rude here. We were unaware that on Thursdays it is exclusively paella night, so when I asked to see the menu, the waitress rolled her eyes at me and told me abruptly ‘It’s just paella tonight’. My partner is vegetarian and when asked what vegetables were in the paella, the waitress again rolled her eyes, sniggered and told him ‘well the normal vegetables you’d get in a paella’. Myself and my partner felt uncomfortable and decided to leave without eating, the said waitress and another waitress were clearly speaking about us behind the bar which made us feel even more uncomfortable. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Had really high hopes for this restaurant after reading positive reviews.. booked weeks in advance as we were on a short break and wanted to visit some local pubs and restaurants local to our holiday home. Arriving at the restaurant we were greeted with very awkward customer service and was was almost like being there was a nuisance to the staff - tried to maintain positive and think nothing of it but after witnessing one of the ladies behind the bar on numerous occasions giving me and my sister absolutely awful looks it then became uncomfortable to sit there. We had children with us so decided to stay ordered drinks and food from another member of staff who was ok - although our lunch fine and reasonably priced I can not stress enough that during the 15 mins it took me to eat my food I saw the same member of staff again looking at me 2-3 times with the most disgusting looks! Although while taking a telephone booking to a local she seemed thrilled and able to provide customer service to a much higher level. Tourists are obviously not welcome here and are absolutely not catered for... ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTED. Will not visit again. AVOID.

What a gem! So, Sunday roast, 5 roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, 4 different variety of vegetables ( carrots are amazing!), cauliflower cheese, abundance of meat and homemade Yorkshire puddings all at a ridiculous price! Service, second to none and nothings too much trouble. I have severe food intolerances, however, the chef is always knowledgeable and informative about his ingredients and has made adjustments to accommodate. If you want a free for all, mass produced conveyer belt of cheap food, try another establishment in Oulton Broad. So blessed to have consistent, quality food in a beautiful setting on our doorstep. The Waterfront, we thank you!

We visited this restaurant last night after a disastrous wait for food at the place next door the previous night. They accommodated the 4 adults and 3 children on 2 tables which of course couldn't be moved and we were happy with. Paella night meant only that was served but the meat option was fine for the children (7,5 and 2) to share. Beware couple of meats quite spicy but they all enjoyed it. We ordered too much ( dishes are shared between 2) so 2 would have been enough. Lovely evening. We arrived at 5 as indoor table all booked but able to take outdoor tables first come first served.

Just called in mid morning after our long walk on a Sunday and whilst they were booked up for lunches they accommodated us promptly for tea and coffees . Very polite . Have a modern external covered seating area . Very pleasant and drinks delivered quickly . They applied covid rules very well so will be back . Well done .

The only downside with this restaurant is that if you want to sit outside you just have to linger and jump if someone moves. BUT it is a lovely little restaurant with a good menu choice and wine list. The portions were very generous which after a long walk is much needed. Great spot to just sit and watch the world go by! The two girls serving were lovely and very accommodating. I wish we'd had the time during our stay to visit for dinner as the menu looks delicious and based on the lunch it'll be amazing. Highly recommend if in the area.

Staying at the Caravan & Motorhome Club yards away we decided to book before we travelled down as it is very popular, and glad we did. The service, food, ambiance and music were perfect. Garlic Bread & French Onion Soup to start then Prawn & Smoked Haddock Pasta and Steak Rioja. Both were exquisite, the latter was the best steak I have had in years. Highly recommended.

Evxcellent food, excellent service, reasonable prices. This is an absolute gem of a restaurant- only small just 7 tables but a varied menu. We had Pork Saltimbocca which was delicious. I suggesthstaying in Kessingland for a week & could only get a 5pm slot however it was well worth it.

We visited for Thursday's Paella Evening after it being recommended by a friend. The Paella was absolutely delicious, freshly cooked, piping hot, and a very generous portion. Very friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend. We'll be visiting again when we're next in Kessingland.
