I was really looking forward to eating here but instead found the experience disappointing and quite stressful. Bookings are not accepted here after 5pm (stated on the website) but when we arrived at 7.30 we were told they were too busy and suggested we drive...More

With a menu that’s not over-complicated, and a pub that welcomes kids, we had a good meal here. Not cheap, but mid-range price. The bar had local cask ales, and a good gin selection. On the whole - worth a visit.

As a family of six, we ventured to this location after a favourable recommendation from a friend end and could not be more pleased. The pub is what a city family expects of a quaint "middle of nowhere" pub, the hosts were extremely welcoming given...More

Friendly from the start, a lovely setting in a picturesque village, plenty of seating inside and outside. Gluten free options are realistic and the staff are knowledgeable on the food they serve. If you're in the area this is a must try.

Called in Sunday afternoon after walking all day at Dovedale before picking up our daughter from Alton Towers. What a nice find! Proper pub food. Friendly staff in a cosy seating area. We both had mini mixed grills, the star of which was the steak....More

Massive portions. Girthy sausages. Excellent service with the waitress being very attentive. Lovely decor quite modern but not over the top. Everything tasted homemade and fresh. Definitely recommend if you are nearby

I'm pretty sure they had it on the menu when I was there in August.

We are a family-friendly, traditional 16th century pub and restaurant with a contemporary twist situated near Alton Towers and on the very edge of the Peak District. Recently under new ownership and re-furbished to a very high standard, we hope the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere of our local pub will keep you coming back (and telling your friends!).
