Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

We enjoyed a lovely evening at the Weighbridge to celebrate a birthday. Food was superb, cooked to perfection and reasonably priced. It was a lovely atmosphere outside in the gazebo. Landlord was very friendly as were the staff. A lovely touch by Poppy the cook/waitress was to bring out a delicious caramel/apple pie with a candle inserted which lead to an impromptu singing of Happy Birthday. A thoroughly enjoyable evening in a very well run establishment.

Only discovered this place recently having visited for the beer festival a couple of weeks ago. We really enjoyed that so decided to visit again as we wanted to try the food. After sitting in the large beer garden enjoying the sunshine we went inside to order some food off the varied menu. The inside of the pub is quite quirky with little "nooks and crannies" but comfortable and welcoming. The bar is very small though but that's not an issue. We went to order our food but was told that they had stopped serving as they were really busy and the kitchen couldn't cope!!! Apparently the pub down the road was sending people there as their kitchen had a problem!! Obviously we were disappointed and started making plans to go elsewhere. As we were leaving we were called back by a member of staff who said they were serving again. We came back in thanked her as she didn't have to do that. We ordered our food and it came quickly and was amazing!! My husband and I had a ploughmans lunch and it was fab!! So much cheese......we took some home!! Our experience here was second to none and all praise to Caroline. She was on her own behind the bar most of the time on a very busy day and she served everyone efficiently and with a smile. She also took time to stop us from leaving when she didn't have to. She is a credit to you and every pub should have a Caroline!! We will definitely return in the future..

We called in at this warm and welcoming pub for lunch. The food was lovely, Good sized portions of quality pub style food served hot with fresh side salad dressing. Excellent beer! Great service. A most enjoyable experience and we would highly recommend it.

Dropped in for a drinks and and something to eat. A cold wet evening sat under canvas , Ordered our drinks , but John the owner/manager had a condescending attitude to our order, 'pints of gas'. We were told he's a real ale man. We didn't order food as the barlady screeching 'masks ' at customers put us off. These boaters won't be docking there again. Lovely area a more welcoming pub just down the towpath The Crown.

After supporting the Weighbridge for many years, including beer festivals.
To cancell 30 dinners reservations over night, after people had travelled by boat to attend, others had taken annual leave from work, others travelled from London, just cancelled with in 24hrs appalling service.
Never cross your threshold again.

Hi, we’re very sorry we had to cancel your booking earlier this week. It wasn’t a decision made lightly but our only cook was taken ill and we simply could not prepare and serve meals without her. We’re very sorry this caused problems for you and do hope to see you in the future.

Moored a boat at Alvechurch and the Weighbridge is almost co-sited with the Marina and so is very convenient. Pre-booked which is recommended and one can also pre-book the dishes. All vey efficient. food was great and a large choice offered, Pizzerias are a specially. Whilst chips were served with everything they were excellent and the rest of the family ate mine! Food and drunks ordered at bar. Food served at table (by efficient and friendly staff) and drinks collected from bar. Real ale served with wide choice. .Food excellent. Prices very reasonable (£8.25 for main course. Highly recommended.

During the pandemic we have done our best to support local pubs when they've been open but I'm struggling with this pub.
We've been here a few times to what is, in effect, a large semi-open marquee in the garden of this pub with an outside bar situated in an open shed.
On a previous occasion I was barked at by the manager for not being two metres apart from another punter (even though by my reckoning I was closer to three metres away). I've also been told off for not walking the correct way around the building and, most bizarrely, for helpfully returning my empty glasses to the bar, when apparently they should be returned to a special table.
Last night, I encountered the wrath of the barmaid for not wearing a facemask, despite the fact that they are no longer a legal requirement and again for queuing in the same line as the other drinkers, even though I was well over two metres behind the other customers. I've also been looked down at by the staff because I wear a sunflower lanyard as I have a hidden disability.
I have noticed that some service providers seem to be using the Covid situation to exert needless authority over customers and this place is no exception. The previous reports of officious staff and management at this pub would seem to back up my view.
I'm all for keeping the nation safe but there is no need for such rudeness and petty rules. A bit of humility and common sense is required or customers will vote with their feet.

We are sorry to hear you felt uncomfortable on your visit to us. We do have lots of measures in place to protect our staff and customers. We are so small inside that distancing is impossible which is why we decided to move outdoors. Signage is in place to show our one way system, a waiting point before approaching the bar to allow others to pass safely and the requirement for face masks. Since the lifting of the legal requirements we have politely asked our customers to please continue to wear their masks and practice distancing. There were only two customers on Wednesday evening who told us they were exempt and we accepted that response with no question. We certainly didn't intend to make you feel this was a problem in any way. We hope that you will still consider visiting us in the future

Hordes of hungry car enthusiasts poured into The Weighbridge today, and the place was packed to the gunnels. Amy proved to be an absolute star!
She juggled cash, credit cards, catering and calls for beer with aplomb.
What a phenomenal young woman. She held the fort totally on her own and was most impressive. A delightful character, a charming smile and the patience of Job.
Amy - you were perfect.
How you kept your cool - I just do not know.
Very well done.
Great place - stunning service.

Great night can't fault the service lead by Chris. Fantastic drinks served by Chris and Caroline always friendly and have a smile on their faces. Caroline always goes that extra mile for me as I have my hearing disability so I rely on lip reading (thank you).
The food was excellent 11 out of 10.
Thank you for a great evening

We went to the beer festival on Saturday and had a wonderful time. The festival was really well run, lots of lovely beers, fabulous morris dancing, great food and the staff, as always, we're brilliant. We live in Bromsgrove and regularly visit this pub to enjoy the beers on offer and take in the atmosphere. My only complaint is that the Weighbridge isn't in Bromsgrove 😅

My friends were here last week and we left when we should have. The owner was extremely rude because he had to close the gates at 10:10 pm. My friends came in the following week and he served them. My friend and I came in 30 minutes later and said he’s not serving us. My friend and I are black. Absolute racist. Never drinking there again

The legislation for pubs at the time of your visit are very clear that all licensed premises have to have all customers leave by 10pm or they can face fines up to £10,000. Once the group you were with were recognised as the same group who had caused an issue on your previous visit, you were all asked to leave. All of us in the pub trade are doing the best we can in very difficult circumstances at the moment. The possible fines that we face are enough to put a lot of us under so we have to ensure we are following the law. I'm sorry that you have felt the need to post your review containing the accusations that you have. The one and only reason you were asked to leave was to protect our business and our employees from hardship

What a wonderful lunch, enjoyed with a fantastic friend!
Lovely friendly welcome by the new management, Chris is doing a fantastic job & Poppys toasties & homemade coleslaw are the best. I highly recommend a visit.

Visited with family for Sunday lunch. Excellent home cooked roast, lots of fresh vegetables (the grandchildren love their veg!). Impeccable service, could not recommend enough if you want a homely traditional meal.

The Weighbridge, my favourite canal-side local real ale pub, is wonderfully rich in industrial heritage. When I first went there it was the club house for Alvechurch Marina, the clientele entirely the narrowboat community. Today it is a successful free house with amazing unpretentious pub grub. A CAMRA award-winning pub, with a great choice of unbeatable real ales and ciders, the Weighbridge is frequented by fascinating role models for taking pride and delight in being unashamedly their weird and wonderful selves, from folkies to Morris dancers to boaters to real ale enthusiasts to metal detectorists, all are friendly and interesting to chat to and yet do not judge me if I want to just sit quietly and soak up the atmosphere while enjoying my half a real ale or cider. I joined CAMRA one year, but I couldn’t grow an impressive enough beard to really make an impact. The Weighbridge even has a book club, where I recently picked up a hardback copy of Bill Bailey’s ‘Remarkable Guide to Birds’ which is full of beautiful pictures of birds and ‘titbits’ of information about each bird. I took this home and put it on my bookshelf next to my ‘Easy Bird Guide’ (your mum is in that one) and I went back the next day to replace it with some novels. Any excuse for a wander down the canal to the Weighbridge, although this time it was for an alcohol-free IPA as I am doing Dry January for a break from my real ale enthusiasm. Honestly, I would miss Chris and Caroline and Amy if I stopped going to the Weighbridge just because I’m not drinking alcohol; it is definitely a happy place for me, a safe space to be unashamedly weird. They even have a folk night where I can inexpertly play my acoustic guitar and sing. And the beer/music festivals are the best in the area.
