I popped in here for dinner on Tuesday on the recommendation from the lady at the village shop. I ordered the fish, chips and peas, and I half expected them to arrive drowning in days old deep fryer fat. I was pleasantly surprised. The fish...More

We have happy memories of the quirky welcome and great seafood which were features of the Ship. Sadly in the past couple of years things went downhill. Now there are new tenants from "across the water" who are working hard and are well on the...More

Lovely warm welcome and good ale. Very nice friendly pub and great food. Would highly recommend. Just a short walk from the ferry and right opposite the steam railway station, great to go to Greenways or Paignton.

When we visited Kingswear late last year the Ship was closed with a planning notice on the door. We stayed in Dartmouth last weekend and when we went over to Kingswear we were very pleased to see the Ship was open again! Still had a...More

Called in for lunch following a trip on the steam railway. It was pleasant, quiet and there was outdoor seating if required. The bar man was very friendly and helpful. We just had sandwiches but the other food on offer looked good. Everything was nice...More

I don't like to write negative reviews but there's very little positive to say. The starter, whitebait was fine. The rest was very very diaspointing. I had rump steak and my wife had sole. Both were accompanied with enormous thick cut chips and a load...More

Dear Douglas Obviously we are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit with us, and cannot apologise enough. It was in fact Andreas first night and perhaps we should have been more attentive to her lack of experience. We are very...More

Visited as part of the Dartmouth steam experience. Googled best fish and chips in Kingswear and The Ship Inn came up. They don’t serve it on a Sunday. Landlord and wife far from friendly. Waited 45mins for an OK meal. Another table dared to ask...More

We called here for a quick drink after a long walk on the Coastal Path. The staff were friendly providing prompt service. There is a small terrace outside which is pleasant. The pub is ideally located for both the Dartmouth Ferry and the Steam Railway.

The Ship Inn is at the heart of the beautiful South Devon village of Kingswear, looking across the river Dart to Dartmouth and Brittania Naval College. Our delicious home cooked menu is constantly changing to reflect the seasonal harvest of local goods that we use, and whether a quick lunch time bite or something more substantial, you can be sure that we have something to satisfy. We are proud of the reputation that the Ship Inn has for real ales, and we continue to offer a great selection of both local and regional beers, with something for every beer drinker. Wine lovers will definitely find something to inspire them at the Ship Inn, where our interesting wine menu is regularly supplemented with special wines. We look forward to welcoming you. Kevin & Michelle John and the Ship Inn team
